Style is consistent with other Death Guard power fists / claws.

Might be a generic Death Guard Chaos Lord, since the CSM Chaos Lord doesn't make much sense in a DG army.

It may be a replacement for the Lord of whatever, who we are now losing from the Dark Imperium Starter Box?
Lord of Contagion cannot take Power Fist (which this appears to be).
Are there any prominent Death Guard characters that don't have a model?

Might be a generic Death Guard Chaos Lord, since the CSM Chaos Lord doesn't make much sense in a DG army.
Except that there isn't a DG specific Chaos Lord, so it does kinda fit? I see your point, but I also see it remaining a generic Chaos Lord
It may be a piece of terrain, a Custodes/Primaris on top of a DG. The liquid is in a odd place for DG models (although liquid is all over the place for DG). Just an Idea.

Those will probably get thrown into a Start Collecting box down the road. More likely it's one of the other "Mantles" from the Death Guard book: e.g. have the Lord of Contagion, but the codex references Lords of Poxes, Lords of Virulence, Lords of Parasitism, Withering, Flux, etc.

Thinking this could be a curveball and it's Emperor's Children, or Fabius Bile's New Men. But yes, the obvious conclusion to draw would be Death Guard.

This is true about the lord of contagion, but it could come with an updated datasheet. They did update the primaris sergeants and lieutenants as they released models for them, so who's to say it won't be the same for the DG characters?

Has anyone considered it might be part of wave 4 for the Space Marine Heroes collection?
This is a fair point, but I don't believe they've teased Heroes via the Rumour Engine before? I would expect Wave 4 to be another legion.

It does look like two horns, that would make up a triangle, on the top of the powerfist. Seems like DG.

This is true - although, they were named as those chapters respectively, with the former even having a short novella. I guess we'll see in the long run.
I'm still going to hold out hope Wave 4 is a different legion that hasn't been touched upon yet.

It could potentially be a new kit for models that are currently stuck in limbo with the Dark Imperium box set and have no other models: Lord of Contagion (you can get this guys with the ETB blightlords), Malignant Plaguecaster and Noxious Blightbringer. If it's in the Rumour engine it's probably a while out so could be with the new codex?
