The greater good FAQ relating to Hybridised Weaponry

Recommended Posts

So one thing I noticed while reading the FAQ after deciding to read through my codexes again in a long time, I notice a straight up question not being answered properly or if it was, didn't account that it completely guts the use for Bork'An.

What is your opinions on this? Miscommunication or straight up don't care just give an answer of any kind. Because as it stands, that sets it so the Bork'An trait's only actual good use is also killed in relation to the Stormsurge.

That or the answer can be taken as not actually answering the question because "maximum range" is a strange word when talking about weapons with multiple profiles such as say a Combi-Melta which has 2 profiles for one weapon, which is the maximum range of the weapon? Because both are the same weapon (they are both considered the Combi-Melta) but with two different profiles that can be used.

I say this because the pulse blaster's only difference is being unable to fire multiple modes at the same time. It has the exact same method of choosing which mode to fire being left to the player. The range doesn't dictate the stats, only how far it reaches or it's "maximum" range as there is nothing stopping me from using "Long" on targets within 5". How would this interact when you use the special strat to change the range of Medium and Close to 15"? Which one would be considered "maximum".

It is a case that on some fairly weak grounding that Hybridised weaponry SHOULD work on Pulse Blasters Close and Medium Ranges as that is how it seems to be intended for the Stormsurge (as during their big reveal of the Tau for 8th and their tenets, they even comment on how Bork'An can benefit the Stormsurge's Blastcannon, noting the ability reach with other profiles).

Is this a case of a question not recieving an answer that is good enough or is there some other matter here? (and again, this can go in so many ways that both RAI and RAW seems to both conflict and agree on)
