Quick Question

So, I'm relatively new to the game, and I just played my first every match against a Tau player who was super aggressive and it made for a really interesting game (for example, his coldstar zoomed over the board and landed in a nice cluster within a thunderfire cannon, captain, lieutenant, and some infantry all in a small L ruin in the back and he just had some bad rolls that derailed an otherwise very scary move).

He used a unit of crisis battlesuits with fusion blasters, and partnered with a commander.  I might have misunderstood him, but I thought he said he'd done something to give the unit of 9 suits, a 4+ invuln.  As I'm trying to learn the game here, understand the many combinations and synergies here, can anyone gimme a heads up on what skill, item, or strategem he might have been using so I can read up on it?

This deathstar of suits deepstruck in on turn two and basically starting wiping units off the board.  Was definitely like aggressors but on steroids with those AP -4 Fusion blasters.

Crisis suits have 3 slots to equip weapons and suit upgrades. Its entirely possible that he kitted the crisis suits out with shield generators- which confer a static 4+ invulnerable

Alternatively, he could have been using shield drones to absorb damage (with savior protocols)- which also have 4+ invulns. Hope this helps?

Thanks Chaplain.  I'm sure it was the former.  Sounds exactly right.  Wow, heck of a blob. They are like Centurions with invulns.  Nasty.

Another popular combo is cyclic ion blasters-- either 2 blasters with an advanced targeting system (-1 ap) or 3 blasters.

Up to 9 shots per battlesuit at s8 and d3 damage per shot.

Crisis bombs are very expensive points wise but they can put in a shocking amount of work
