Greetings Generals!

What do you make of the following 1k Ebon Chalice starter list?

++ Total: [47 PL, -1CP, 973pts] ++

Depending on the situation, one can embark different units on the immolators. I can either outflank the flamer retributions (hello stratagem with a shedload of auto hits) or the metla ladies that are babysat by the canoness.

Repentia can either go on the Immolator with their mistress and the Missionary or stay in the back as a counter-attack unit.

Thoughts?

With the points changes of 9th around the corner, you may or may not have to drop stuff.

Furthermore, I'm only just getting into SoB myself, so take this for what it's worth.

I like the list. A lot.

You can seize midfield objectives easily early on with the bodycount you've got.

I doubt that the Troops provide the staying power to keep them, so you'd have to really push your other units into your opponent's face to keep him occupied.

Your fire and forget-bombs can do that nicely, but:

Sisters or not, I see one decided weakness in this list - no target saturation.

Your units each have a clear purpose, but once they're killed off, you don't have any contingency units to fulfil that purpose.

I'd suggest dropping either the Seraphim or the Repentia in favor of having 2 squads of one kind.

But since Seraphim rely on a Stratagem to do their work, this might not really do anyhting.

Overall, even when your bombs have to eat a screen instead of something useful, the make their points back and leave a path open for the next drop to get to the juicy targets.

It should work against most opponents.

  • 2 weeks later...

Might I ask why you didn't take any Celestian squad to babysit your characters? I know they're often seen as inferior/expensive, but Ebon Chalice has the best Celestians around since they get a save against any MW that they intercept as bodyguard...

Of course, with 9th this might all change, so is to be taken with a grain of salt...
