Dagoth Ur Posted July 5, 2020 Share Posted July 5, 2020 I don't think that anything says that you can't - hell, I even think it's a pretty neat idea! From a fluff perspective it makes sense too as Corax was around for a bit and started reshaping the legion before the terrans were exiled. The iconography only came afterwards I believe, but we have no strong indicator either way when it comes to that. SkimaskMohawk Posted July 5, 2020 Share Posted July 5, 2020 The ashen claws pretty much followed the same style of warfare as the wider legion, the main difference was their very callous views towards civilians and other forces. Like using army units as bait for an ambush or whatnot. It's also important to point out that corax was morally against their methods, but when he got pissed off his strategies would mirror theirs more and more. You can see him using the therion cohort as a distraction to insert his forces unharmed at the perfect fortress and then at yarrant. Or how he used torture and suicide troops in the primarch books. It is perfectly possible to play them as Raven Guard, but the Blackshield "Orphans of War" rules are probably a better fit considering the DT options for marauder squads and the "less sneaky" reaver tactics.
