unintended deepstrike buff

Recommended Posts

Bets on how fast they Errata this?

its possible they dont at all, as it really hinges on the fact that your still making the charge and getting into coherency but where your charging from and where your rushing over two are two different lengths due to basic trigonometry

Pretty sure they know about it considering it was a huge concern with FLY and similar rules and making potential 0" charges out of deep strike already.

Edit: also important to note, you still need to deep strike more than 9" away, so it wouldn't be exactly 8.5" as shown in the diagram if the enemy is just 3" above ground.

Why stop there? The new terrain is exactly 5" tall to the first platform, which means that a model on the ground floor has their base within 5" of a model above them (by the thickness of the base).

So if an enemy model is 5" up, you can deploy 9" away in a direct line, but only 7.5" away along the ground, meaning a 7" charge gets you in.

And just to really push it, a Cult army can get +3 to charge on aberrants, for a 4" charge; and with the perfect ambush stratagem, they've then got a 50% chance of a 0" charge, and a 5/6 chance of an unfailable 2" charge.

...so tactically sound principles of fighting from an elevated position are in fact on the tabletop less sound.

That's what I was thinking as well, but then again, how sound is it to have a blind spot right below you? Better have someone watch the entrance to the building to not get "flanked". ;)

Taking elevation gives the benefit of better field of fire. In urban ops there was always the issue of enemy coming from below.
