How is 9th going to change your list?

Hey guys, like the title says, how are you gonna change your lists?

 

Is the double battalion worth the CP cost now?

 

I’m considering running a battalion and patrol to have enough HQ slots for my 2 brother captains, 2 librarians and 2 grandmasters, 1 being in NDK suit. But I would need to fiddle around with my list.

 

Or is having 3 HQ enough at 2k? I ideally want a Brocap, Librarian and Voldus. But I feel a 2nd librarian is almost mandatory.

 

Curious to see how everyone’s list is fairing with 9th Ed upon us!

Until we see the updated rules/datasheets and, more importantly, points costs, there's not much point in discussing army lists.

 

One thing to take into consideration is that, from what I've heard, It's heavily implied that every faction will have a supreme commander. In our case, this probably means that we can take Draigo in a supreme command detachment so he does not use any HQ slots, which would be great, as that would allow us to have the two librarians and the BC in a single battalion.

No point in discussing lists, until we get new points and first day errata.

 

But if we assume, that not much would be changed, I see no reason to change anything in my lists, besides droping some strikes/chaplain, because of point shortage. I'll take Draigo in a supreme command, if he is a supreme commander. If not, I am buying additional patrol for him, because there's no point in conserving 2 CP, when your army is poor.

We were taking double battalion because of CP, not because of slots. Strikes are good, but we don't need 6 squads - I'd better take more interceptors. 

 

Or is having 3 HQ enough at 2k? 

 

I am yet to see a competitive list with less than 4 HQs.

I know I’m definitely leaning toward a Battalion and a Patrol, which will get me 5 HQs with a requirement for 4 cheap Strike Squads to fill the Troops.

Same here - but a battalion with a Vanguard.

 

 

 

What's the point? You have 6 elite slots in Battalion. You are literally giving a CP for nothing. New vanguard/outrider/spearhead are all examples of horrible game design, especially the vanguard. Literally no reason to use them ever at all.

I'd knew you'd be the one to point that detail out.. I was just stating the essence of the idea, not an accurate 9th edition style list. Come back in a few weeks, then you'll have a list.

And if you actually yourself asked why, I wrote that with the 8th edition in mind - there was no need to edit it, as the focus of that post was more about what was in the list, rather the actual structure. But if it would appeal to your need to cross your T's and dot your I's, I'll get rid of that.
