I said I wouldn’t buy it but I did buy it. Ive never been a fan of David Annnandales writing but I’ve throughly enjoyed this. I bought this on a whim and it’s superb.

Ever since ADBs Spears the whole nihilus thing has fascinated me. It’s a brilliant place to tell stories. Sadly only half this book is based there and while I think that is the stronger half the second half doesn’t miss either. Yes he does go a little crazy and repeats something that really annoyed me from his grey knights book. But it’s better done this time. It’s a novella and I do like little novellas, but I think this is brilliantly written and Stern comes out a fascinating character. In fact all the characters are well written.

Great story and credit where it’s due, hats off David Annandale. More of the same please.

The limited ed is rather tasty too.

Still haven’t forgiven him for Vulkan though.

I have a rant to go on about the graphic novel and trying to get one, but I'll shorten it down.

-prordered on Amazon over a month out.

-Amazon oversells allocation and admits to it on Thursday after chasing them through customer service

-find a copy on eBay for retail price, with 5$ shipping and 3 day delivery time

Read the graphic novel last night. Can’t say I really enjoyed it. The art is just ok, nothing spectacular. The panels are fairly disjointed making the story flow pretty clunky. I love comics and read a lot of them, perhaps this book hasn’t aged well. Sometimes I read old comics and they just don’t feel like they used to. Usually independents. Marvel and D.C. have a timeless feel to them. A Spider-Man from today won’t feel far off a Spider-Man from the 70’s/80’s.

Anyway I’ve definitely had more enjoyable Saturday nights!

Glad to see a positive review of this novel. I actually really like Annandale, when he is left to his own devices. His series stuff (Like his Guilliman novel or Damnation of Pythos) kinda sucks. But stuff like his Horror stories of Death of Antagonis show what crazy stuff he will write to paper.

Hopefully the ebook edition ain't too far off
