"And so, the grey-clad came from the outer night, and their jagged maw did swallow the stars, and their black gaze did mirror the void of oblivion. Their pale shadows fell upon the servants of the skulled-one with great fury from the darkness, unseen as the beast that lurks beneath the black waters, death for death, blood for blood... Thus were the sons of Sanguinius bought respite, and did turn back upon their pursuers, and so were the damned traitors of the false gods driven unto their ruin."

A bit about my history with 40k.

Hello all my first post in this group.

I have been playing 40k on and off since my first day entering a games workshop store on the launch day of the second edition 40k, at the age of 6.

I convinced my mum to buy me the boxed set and a pant set and after seeing the dark angels on a display I made my first dark angel army with a catch, I painted them in grey..  I continued with my dark angels through to my teenage years, when i branched out playing necromunda and other tabletop rpgs.

Once I hit my late teens my painting level had become good enough that my friends were regularly asking me to paint their models for them in turn leading me to start my own commision business. However this then left me with little time for my own armies and even less time for gaming. Moving through my 20s and early 30s I concentrated on mainly on commision work and playing RPGS

Since then I started building a new army around late 7th edition with the shattered legion which I unfortunately had to sell.

I never played much of 8th edition and skipped getting the starter set and was mainly painting whatever took my fancy at the time.

With 9th here I've got excited again during lockdown I have painted a full 2000 point eldar army with custom scheme., and with the launch of indomitus I have decided to start a marine army.

The Carcharodons Astra

So with nostalgia looming I was wanting to go back to my grey painted dark angels.

After reading a short story about the Carcharodons I felt inspired to start new force using primarily the contents of the indomitus marines, with the models primarily being  armed with close combat weapons it will lend perfectly to the Carcharodons,

The Carcharodons is an alleged Successor Chapter of the Raven Guard though this remains unconfirmed. They participated in the latter stages of the Badab War returning from the outer void to punish those they saw as Traitors to the Imperium of man.  The Carcharodons have always been a fleet based Chapter, following the far rarer Nomad-Predation pattern rather than the more common Crusading pattern adopted by countless other mobile Space Marine Chapters.

what few Imperial records exist about the Carcharodons suggest they are entirely fleet-based, which in turn would suggest they have fundamental differences from most, more conventional, Space Marine Chapters.

Their long isolation may also have an effect on the Chapter's wargear. The few starships observed to be serving the Carcharodons were wildly different in design and even the era of their construction, indicating the Chapter likely makes use of whatever vessels it can find, and performs extensive modifications and repairs in order to keep them sailing as long as possible.

This carries over into the individual Battle-Brothers as well. Those Carcharodons who have been seen often equip themselves with weapons and technology of  ancient providence.

With this in mind I have commissioned a 3d designer to sculpt me a variety of weapons that would be unique to this chapter and will also make my force truly unique on the battle field. The designs are based on original polynesian weapons and will have a scifi twist.

I'm excited to see how the weapons turn out. Will you give updates on how the 3d looks? or will you wait until it's on a model?

Thanks :d I am still waiting on the design but will show some screenshots when i get them. I will be adding more content to this log later took me a while just typing this lot.

The Army Plan (this post is a wip)

The Core of my army will be built around 2x the contents of the indomitus box set.  Plus a few of the extra models I avel left over from the conquest magazine. I have no army list as of yet as I am waiting for the full rules and points to officially drop. However I am open to suggestion n army lists especially ones that would work well with the sharks.

The current characters and names are true to the fluff however as I will be running a primaris list I will be adding my own fluff where all of the units have gone through the rubicon.

Tyberos the Red Wake - Chapter master of the Carcharodons.
(This will be a heavily convert version of the new Abaddon model.  and is being built by a friend of mine more pics to follow)

Bail Sharr - Primaris Captain - The current Master of the 3rd Company of the Chapter, Sharr is known as the Reaper Prime. He has overseen the 3rd since the 9th century of the 41st Millennium after Master Akia was killed fighting xenos. (indomiutus model with customer 3d printed parts)

Mannfor - Primaris Captain, Taciturn Company Master, who wields the chain blade, Skinshrive and commands the Strike Cruiser Ma-tahe. (indomiutus model with customer 3d printed parts)

Dorthor - Primaris Lieutenant - formerly the strike leader of the first tactical squad or the 3rd company (indomiutus model with customer 3d printed parts)

Nuritona - Primaris Lieutenant -  formerly the strike leader of the second tactical squad of the third company (anniversary model with custom parts).

Te Kahurangi - Primaris Librarian Known as the Pale Nomad, Te Kahurangi is the oldest member of the Chapter and is said to have been descended from the Wandering Ancestors, those that went into space at the behest of the Forgotten One. (standard librarian model with custom pads however I will be looking for an alternative as not a fan of the robes on this one)

1x Judiciar - (indomiutus model with custom pad)

10x Assault Intercessors - (indomiutus models with custom parts)

3x Eradicators (indomiutus models with custom parts)

3x Eradicators (indomiutus models with custom parts)

Itako Redemptor Dreadnought - Itako was formerly a contemptor dreadnought before being badly damaged and interred into Redemptor / venerable hybrid. (this is my own take on the character and will be a heavily modified redemptor model using the main box from a vulnerable kit)

2 x Repulsers (stock models potentially with custom 3d logo)

I will keep editing this post when I have added more background and information about the models ect. I am open to suggestions however.

So I managed to come across some 3d files for more shar themed upgrades so I decided to purchase them to add to the ones I have commissioned. Hopefully this will add more variety to my models as intend to have as little duplication as possible. You get purchase them here, and I will be making some test prints of them tomorrow.

Thanks brother :D I fully intent to have as much thematics as I can.  Its generally a theme with amrys I do even if its a commision.

However with this army there is very little dedicated content to draw from so I will have to use some creative imagination :D

Small update I have started working on the support for the shields ready for printing tomorrow. I will likely be using these for the blade guard and the one I have commissioned I will keep for characters. And yes there is a pokemon there I promised I would print it for my partner.

This particular plate is going to take an expected 16 hours so fingers crossed for printing tomorrow.

Another plate has about 25 helmets and several flat icons for my repulsers. That will take approximately 8 hours so i'm not sure I will get both done in a day.

So small update I managed to get to full build plate printed. The helmets have come out really well, as have the shields. Unfortunately I was too lazy with the supports for the shark logos, so they failed to print properly I will try them again next week.

I have also had a busy day clearing out some old models and giving a quick repaint and base of an inquisitor and retinue. Which will add some well needed allies to my force, at least I can get a fully painted playable army.

Printed shields are below, and the helmets are still curing so will get better images when they are done.

I am also considering adding some red brethren to the list however I was ideally only going to stick to a primaris force so was thinking maybe these guys got upgraded to Aggressors? I have also considered wolverine like claws to the fists similar to how hunger and slake is on the forge world model.

What your guys thoughts?

Those are some boss level designs. Love the shield and spear as a combo. I always like icons you can paint first and then attach to the shoulder pad. Its a trade off of consistent positioning to have a cleaner painted icon. Good for us old folks with shakey hands

So another update unfortunately my file had corrupted leaving me with mostly failed prints so no progress photos so far. Hopefully another print run next week will fix that up.  I have also ordered some chain axes for my assault intercessors which i have just started building. I will still be using the ones I am 3d printing but reserving them for the characters to make them stand out more.
