What a surprise.
Given how much new things there are for both armies, it was pretty expected.

Did I just see DA and SW iconography inside ?
Yeah that can't be good.. I hope GK's don't get that treatment as well.
As much as I still dislike the new logo, I much prefer the overall style of those codex cover designs.
Two brand new Space Marine codexes in under a year if this lands by August. Surely that's a record
I haven't even bothered with the latest one since I came back to 40k a few weeks ago.
Both codexes (Space Marines & Necrons) are coming in October.
Very interesting for Dark Angels/Blood Angels/Space Wolf players, you now use supplements:
The new Codex: Space Marines will replace the current Space Marine codex, as well as the other First Founding and Deathwatch codexes – making it an invaluable tome that covers all those elements common across the forces of the Space Marines. A literal Codex Astartes*.
Players using Chapters covered in the last Space Marine codex can carry on using their expansions with the new book – White Scars, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Ultramarines, Salamanders, Raven Guard and Black Templars using their codex expansion in the Psychic Awakening series.
For fans of the Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Blood Angels and Deathwatch?
If you have one of these armies, good news – not only do you get a shiny new core codex with loads of new toys to play with, but you also have a new codex supplement on the way. You’ll be able to tailor your Space Marines force to fully embody the theme and spirit of their Chapter, and of course, include all their unique units and heroes.

At least you're guaranteed to get proper supplements....
Honestly, all stuff being rolled into one book - provided no units or characters are lost - is a fantastic thing, speaking as a Blood Angels, Dark Angels and regular codex player.
Hell, the fluff is 99% recycled from edition to edition and inbetween codizes anyways.
Pete Foley said that all options have been preserved, so I think BA, DA, SW and DW players should be ok.
Current Forces:
The Storm Watch - WIP Custom Space Marine Chapter
1st Atrian Rifles - WIP Astra Militarum Regiment
Ultramarines - Warhammer Conquest Subscription
Death Guard - Warhammer Conquest Subscription

I can think of one chapter about to get screwed over...
