After so much time I think I have to show some progress I made with my army .

Its not that fluffy Crusade some others have ( I have so much respect for so much detail in terms of lore, story, and so on) but I want to show you some of my models which I have painted, just build or battles I ´ve fought (in tournaments and anywhere else).

 

I start with the Hero of Helsreach:

I played again, this time with Indomitus units and i am really impressed how strong they are. 

 

If there is enough time I will write you about my 2 games in next few days. I played against 2 of the best players in my region so both games were on a high competitive level.

So its on:

 

My first game was against Necrons from the Nihilak Dynasty and we used the new chapter tactics and dynasty rules which were revealed a few days ago.

 

My list was a bit mix between all things I wanted to play without optimizing that whole list.

So I played

 

Helbrecht

Indomiuts Lieutenant with Aurelian Shroud

Chaplain with Jump Pack as MoS with 5++ and +3" for auras.

 

1x5 Scouts

1x10 Scouts

2x 5 Intercessors with Hammers

 

2 Impulsors with 4++

 

1x Redemptor

Drop Pod with 5 man Grav-Devastors

2x4 Company veterans  

2x Judiciars (one with the relic which gives always +1 attack instead of shock assault)

a Land Raider Crusader

 

My opponent played:

 

3x3 heavy destroyer

1x10 Lychguards

1x6 Destroyer

a Monolith and 

3x3 new melee destroyer

new destroyer lord 

a few different no named characters (one with the teleport relic) and 1x5 Immortals ( everything I remember so far) 

 

 

Both players did nothing in strategic reserves and I was allowed to start first so I tried to kill the heavy destroyers because they were the major threat to my vehicles and I wasnt able to destroy them all and so he was able to kill my Redemptor although I had 4++ and the Stratagem for -1 damage and the 5+++ on it. 

I dont want to drive too far into it. 

 

My list was not optimized and his MSU style army claimed all objectives wich were remote from my army because my scouts werent strong enough to hold that. My army did well in close combat although he could stand his position and after 3 round we stopped because I wasnt able to win anymore because of points. 

There were a few very bad dicerolls but in the end the result would be the same (just one round later).

 

so I created a new list for my secound game which should be very strong and everything I noted and learned from the first game should be going in this new list and yesterday I was able to play against the mighty Tau.

after the great response in the 9th ed room I will test the next  list with pure firstborn marines and figure out how to play as competitive as possible without impulsors and devot push combination.

(Idea is the MSU-concept. Each Crusadersquads embarked in a rhino + the melee company veterans with the shooty crusadersquads. one Devastor in the first round per drop pod the other one in strategic reserves close to Helbrecht which should be 9" Range because of the 2 litanies of the MoS, Devine Protection for the Dread + Stratagem for -1 damage and aurelian shroud.

I wonder if it would be beneficial to remove the neophites and the cenobite servitors in order to upgrade the rhinos into razorbacks with twin lasscannons, heavy bolters or twin assualt cannons?  Especially I believe that some extra long range las cannons could be benefitial :smile.:

In my experience you need bigger squads to stay in combat to use tenacious assault. And I want to test them all... company veterans alone wont win the game in melee. But clearly you could easy change the 2 melee squads into 1 shooty and with that points change rhinos to razorbacks.

win against Tyranids with 9 Zoantrophes, 2 flying Hive Tyrants, 2 biovores, a zoantrophe character and 2 squads of ripper swarms.

 

win against Tau with Riptide (Relic cannon), 2 different types of commanders, a few breacher and fire warriors, ghosts and a transport.

 

win against mass tyranids with 3 zoantrophes and the zoantrophe character, 1 big squad hormagaunts and 3 big squads termagants, 3 venomtropes, a tervigon and a forgeworld monster I dont know the name...

 

lost against Nihilak Necrons which had a 2++ save with 6 wraith, 1 skorpekh lord, 1 Illuminor Szeras, 2x3 heavy destroyers, 1x6 destroyers and a few scarabs...

This seems like a very cool list! To Primarisy for my taste, but I'm glad it worked for you. I must get  back into a more melee-oriented mindset myself, though. How did Helbrecht perform? I always find him to be a bit too expensive points-wise with apparently little more in return over a regular Marshal. But that's just probably my assessment based on a frustration that we get our special rules through characters and these rules aren't that great to begin with (compare Helbrecht and BA's army-wide rule!).

??? It didnt worked... not perfectly. I is not a podium placing. 

 

And Helbrecht was a  must have all the 8th to the last pdf... Full rerolls are alone!!!!! And he was great.  He survived each game...and killed Illuminor Szeras, one Flying Tyrant (just 2 wounds left)... He didnt fought often He was there to improve the every other unit with his 9" bubble(s)

After a few games tested I am confident with my Black Templar force to win tournaments again. Sadly there are no events.

Played against a Club member (Dark Angels) and against a White Scars player. Both had very hard tournament lists and I succeed victory against both although I think the next game against the same WS player will be much harder ( he is an amazing player --> 2nd place in ITC germany)
