Forge World and The Lion

With Forgeworld starting to sell models again, how soon do you think until we can order The Lion?

I know I'll be getting one, but I'm not sure about the scenic base because I want to field it.

But I'm also really nervous because I haven't worked with resin much, and I think this will be my first FW model.

The scenic bases for the primarchs are usually built in a way where the primarch is detachable from the scenic base on a normal base so you can store him in that in your display case and then take him off when you are playing.

I have a couple of friends who have picked up some of the other primarchs.

They said that the Russ and Magnus base was kinda like a movement tray, where the models just rest in there, and you can pluck them out for games.

However ones like Guliman and Sangunius have an extra piece on the scenic base that locks the the model in place.  They also said if you put a plastic base under the character then they will be to tall to fit into the scenic base.

So, whoever told you that the plastic bases under the character will make them too tall to fit into the scenic base is a dirty liar

I've built two Primarchs with their full scenic base (technically three, but the Perturabo I have isn't attached to his), and both fit in properly.

I mean.... The 40mm they attach to is designed to slot into their scenic base, so I don't know why it wouldn't work?

You should be able to slot the base in, the kit is designed for that. The piece that locks it in is usually magnetized by folks. FW does it this way because the scenic base is not designed for gaming.

This is what I plan on doing with the Lion kit, since I want to be able to use him with my HH DA.

Yeah, a Primarch model is a tough one to do as your first FW model, especially if you haven't done resin yet. Perhaps it might be worth it to get something else with the Lion to practice on first? You could grab something like one of the DA praetors.

Oh man, doing a Primarch as your first FW-model! You're a brave man, good luck!

Total madlad

Don't stress about the resin. My first FW models were Angron and Fulgrim and they weren't a problem. I've since built about a third of the character series and the most difficult part has been interpreting the assembly instructions. You'll be fine!

Thanks for the update? Any word on the interwebs about the price?

To guess based on the other FW primarchs, you're looking at upwards of/around €100/£80/$125.

Won't be actual info on prices until preorder on Friday. Forgeworld/30k isn't like GW/40k stuff which has price leaks ahead of time

I will end up getting both the miniature and Crusade for my HH force.

I assume the price would be around $120-$135. As said, prices don't get posted because other stores don't usually stock FW.
