Indomitus Assault Intercessors as Death Company?

Hey all. I'm a lurker to B&C and a "collector" of 40k. I recently wanted to get back into the hobby and actually make an attempt to play when this whole pandemic is over. I decided on Blood Angels.

I was wondering if I could take my Primaris Assault Intercessors from Indomitus and make them into Death Company? If that jived with the current rules I guess. I'm a total novice when it comes to the rules and what not.

I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask this, if someone can point me to a better spot if that is the case.

Paint em death co. They may not have current rules as death co but most likely will and otherwise are your regular assaultessors who suffer from bad dereams and depression but still are able to follow orders. Heck death co can fall back at the moment so the rules for death co are borked anyway. Those models deserve black armor and only small forlorn hope of survival anyway considering their role on the table top. Death co!

Well that warms my heart! I think I'm going to paint half Death Co and the rest just normal Blood Angels.

Is there any hint or inkling that we might see Death Co Assault Intercessors? I know the first of the Psychic Awakening books brings Death Co Intercessors.

Hi there! Someone in another thread has said, that a playtester indirectly confirmed assault intercessors can become DC in the new codex. I can't tell you if this is true, but it's something and as tychobi has said there really is no problem for them to be painted black, even if they won't be able to be actual DC in the end.

Even with the rules we have at the moment, there still is absolutely nothing that could stop you from painting them black, adding jump packs and using the with the current DC rules with Bolter&Chainsword armament - they even have the same bases size.

I would say to expect Death Company Assault Intercessors to be an eventual release. Likely when Blood Angels get their codex supplement.
If you wanted encouragement, wouldn't you say it's odd that there are ten white chapter symbol transfers to represent "veterans," despite the fact that is traditional of the DC, and are in the same numbers as the assault intercessors? and the Bladeguard veteran model we've seen painted in blood angel colours uses the usual black chapter symbol?

Well, that makes me happy to hear. I think that it might be best to split the assault intercessors half and half.

I imagine with the introduction of Death CO Intercessors and Assault Intercessors the old Death Co will be less relevant? I imagine assault Death Co will hang around but primaris are generally better than classic marines?

The Primaris troops are better, but cost more points. However the latest points give a huge incentive to switch to Primaris.

However there are no decent jump pack assault Primaris units yet for BA to really switch to. But with the way 9th is looking, less models is better so at some point I reckon we would get jump pack Primaris DC. I’d be tempted to use the DC pads on the assault intercessors and magnetise the backpack so you can use a DC jump pack. It’s not guaranteed that they will make them exactly the same as minimarines DC though as new weapons have come with each Primaris unit.

Furthering this:

There's an image floating around, likely from the 9th Edition Space Marines codex, that shows one of the Multipart Kit Assault Intercessors painted up in Death Company colours.

Really the only thing DC get over their standard counterpart is +1A and the 6+++ from Black Rage. If there's no specific DC entry for Assault Intercessors, you can comfortably emulate that with the Veteran Intercessors strat, if I'm not mistaken... Actually I could well be mistaken, does the wording of that stratagem preclude it from applying to Assault Intercessors?

Either way, paint 'em black and have fun. Nobody sensible in this hobby would stop you from using models painted in a way that's fluffy for your army, just because the rules don't technically match. Based on the speculation so far, I'm guessing the new codex and supplement may make Black Rage into a stratagem that you can apply to certain units for CP, rather than codex entries.

its a regular multipart intercessor rather than an assault one, you can tell from the design of the pistol and chainsword, plus the same model was shown in blood of baal.

Now that I think about it, I believe I mixed up the veteran strat with DC-ability. Anyhow, I still can't see how they will not be able to fall to the curse. In the end it's just a matter of equipment they get after black raging. But maybe a bolt rifle and pistol is far cheaper to replace then a chainsword and heavy bolt pistol? ;) only Mars knows...

The veteran intercessor strat doesn't apply to assault intercessors atm alas. In the new marine codex, veteran intercessors are being changed to a 'elite' datasheet so you pay points rather than CP to get them.

I will be utterly amazed if assault intercessors don't get a death company version when our supplement to the new codex comes out (sometime before xmas hopefully) either on their own or as an alternative loadout to the current death company intercessors datasheet. I'm not expecting them to get jump packs any time soon, so classic death company will continue to have a niche with those, though as always vanguard vets and sanguinary guard will continue to be the other options for that role.

Do you have a link to this? I’d love to see and can’t find it anywhere :( Edited by BladeOfVengeance
