Hail brothers

I'm curious as to what types of lists my brothers are running in 9th edition.

I'll kick it off with mine (will need some adjusting once the battlescribe points have been fully updated)

Had reasonable success with this however Bjorn and the Redemptor are a little slow... I like their models though so I run them. Dreading the upcoming wulfen stormshield nerf.

I do have a more competitive list that drops Bjorn and the Redemptor; but I like this list and it's fun to play right now.
I'll add some outriders when the kit is released if the sergeant gets a power weapon option; and potentially do a dreadnought heavy armour list in the future with Murderfang involved too.

I had a list I've been poking around at home (see "Yay points let's theorize" in the lists section if curious) and on the process found some elements I wasnt stoked about and some I really liked. So I have changed it up a bit. Heres my most recent rendition, only 1 play through versus my eldar, but I liked how it played, pretty threat saturated, fast moving, really hops on objectives.

How have you found the outriders to perform? I want to throw a squad or two into my own list once the multipart kit comes out. I'm trying to do a speedy impulsor rush.

In my experience with outriders they're a good bully unit but if they get bogged down things can get rough, a weapon upgrade option would help if they get one. I haven't tried them with the chaplain on bike yet but want too as soon as we have the rules for him.

I have found they chew through chaff units quite well, and they take up a decent amount of space and their speed gets them to grab late game objectives if they've lasted. I find them to be quite good on the whole.

I do agree that if they could take a fist or hammer they would be better as they could chase a harder target, but all in all I like how they perform.

there are rules floating around as well as points. Hes 130 pts

I like using a battle leader on thunderwolf to move with them. Hes slower but the 6" heroic intervention makes up for it

They could definitely use a power weapon; I've been waiting for the full kit to see if they get a melta shooting option or a thunderhammer/powerfist packleader.

Not so sure I need them currently otherwise; I have painted inceptors with a larger threat range.

I an patiently awaiting the chaplain on bike... though I'm not sure who he will be replacing. I'm awfully attached to my Runepriest even if he doesn't really pull his weight.

If we get a primaris wolf priest on bike then oh baby is he going to be good - canticle of hate + wulfen stone + hero of the chapter with wolfborn trait + finally a good unit to heal.

Outrider could potentially have 8 attacks each on the charge.

Armies:

40k: Deathguard, Steel Legion, Word Bearers, Space wolves, Necrons

WFB: Night goblins, Empire, Dark Elves

Basically my old 5th edition Rhino Rush list with some extra goodies...basic gist:

TWC Lord with WC and SS and some goodies
Biker Rune Priest with Force Sword, PP and goodies

3x GH squads all with: 9x GH (8x GH, 1x SGT), 2X meltas, chainswords, banner, and a WGPL with combimelta and either: TH, PF, ie WC...really depends on how I’m feeling.

1x GH or BC squad with 6x dudes and 1x melta. Power weapon to taste

3x TWC: 3X SS, 1x TH, 1X WC, 1X Frost Axe....tho I’m not against swapping the WC or FA out for a TH.

5x Wulfen: Pack Leader with Frost Claws, 2X TH/SS, 2X Great Axe, 3X Frag launcher

3 Rhinos
1 AssCan RBack

Comes out to 1700, leaving me room to add some additional flavor as needed. But I’m def digging how somewhat viable OldMarines in a 5th edition style list are this edition

Bear in mind that the 6" HI is going away; instead all Space Wolf units will be able to HI like characters, but SW Characters will have only the standard 3" HI.

(In addition to the +1 to hit when charging/charged/HI'ing)

The eliminators and eradicators serving you well?

I need a replacement for one of my wulfen squads now they're taking a stormshield nerf. 4++ might just work on one squad if used correctly; but 2 squads on a 4++ is a hell of a lot of points for a potentially failed charge. I'm thinking of using eradicators in cunning of the wolf myself, I own hellblasters but every game they were a disappointment.

I stick with wulfen for the multitude of attacks they throw out to overwhelm invulnerable saves.

Yes, I really dig them.  Initially, I was thinking the Eliminators with Las Fusils would be too expensive, and vulnerable, but they stay in the DZ corners and help screen out Deep Strikers, and tend not to be the priority targets and/or out of range of opponent's weapons that would want to shoot at them.  They have reliably done big damage over the course of the games to Elite infantry and vehicles.  The Eradicators coming in from Outflank using Cunning can typically get within the 12" needed to use the Melta special rule, and tear the crap out of any unit, vehicle or otherwise.  They've been fantastic choices for me.

theyre great using them this way. I play raptors and Salamanders as well so I do look at them as not as good being SW but 2 units can easily slap a transport turn1.

I think one of my biggest gripes with gravis and phobos units is the linear way of fighting. Maybe when we look at firstborn models like we do the original terminators from space hulk...we may just get a Phobos or Gravis squad type. If i could id rock 2 each of the gravis in a squad. A cool mixed phobos unit seems way more realistic..a medic, a demolitions dude, comms/jammer guy, sensor/scout, sharp shooter, the bamf sgt with the cool shoot and fade hero trick and you got the one guy who's gonna leap over the walls and kill the sentry or blow up the gate...

If you are running this list you really can't drop Arjac. Both for the fluff and for the gameplay. With his boost to Wolf Guard he is incredible in that list if your opponent lacks serious anti-tank firepower to allow them to get there.

This is the first draft of a list I have put together - admittedly at least in part because over lockdown I've painted 2 Repulsors and the Assault Intercessors, and want to try them out.

The theory is that Ragnar, the Assault Intercessors and two packs of normal Intercessors jump in the Repulsors and aim to dominate the midfield, with the Wolf Priest running up in support. Long Fangs, Redemptor and the third squad of Intercessors cover the closest objectives and the Terminators drop in wherever needed, preferably within range of Ragnar and the Priest to do the most damage.

Unfortunately I haven't played a game with it yet (my local club restarts in September) but I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.

The darks greatest gift is the light itself: as days are defined by the nights that divide them, as stars are defined by the infinite dark through which they wheel, the dark embraces the light, and brings forth from the center of itself. With each victory of the light, it is the dark that wins.

The brightest light casts the darkest shadow.

I can't squeeze everything I want into my lists...

I have a few 9th edition game mechanics I am building around

-Objectives are key....killing isn't the goal.  Taking an objective and surviving to score your next turn is what will win games.  Build for durability and survival

-Maximize the new strategic reserves being available for all units

-Build for secondary objectives

-No more choosing relics/traits/spells each game means I have to make hard decisions for maximum benefit without knowing my opponent (like the RP with shrouding)

My SW must haves in every list I have built so far

-2+ units of Eradicators (6 melta shots with 24" range for 120 points is broken.  If you are doing competitive play you need as many as you can squeeze in your list)

-3xCyberwolves (these are super cheap units to guarantee easy secondary points.  Pick engage on all fronts or linebreaker.  For 45 points and 1 CP you throw these wherever you need using strategic reserves for unstoppable scoring.  If your opponent ignores them then you can cause even more trouble)

Wants

-Terminator plasma bomb (if you read my saga of the terminators you know I looooove the potential of BS2 rerolling plasma followed by a 7" charge...this usually means I add a wolf priest as well)

-Leviathan (funny foot note here.  I preach my absolute love of outflanking eradicators as an anti tank unit.  Our unique chooser of the slain is a HARD counter to someone using that trick on us.  If your 24" guns want to shoot the leviathan then his 24" storm cannons will delete you upon entry...this is true for most alpha strike type units coming out of reserves)

-Bjorn + Murderfang (this is a character blocking rule exploit that lets you take an objective in the open without fear of being shot)
-More dreads!  Wulfen dreads with claws and shields or Venerables with claws and guns (the goal is maximize durability to stay on objectives and score points.  With our army wide HI you can move into and slaughter any cheap units that try to steal an objective out from under you.  This makes it very hard to stop Space Wolf dreadnoughts from securing an objective.  One trend I am seeing in net lists is the sacrifice of anti-tank guns to cut points.  I am leaning into the meta and trying to exploit the trend)

All my lists do some version of mixing/matching the wants

My latest list I am considering

Saga of the terminator trials for 9th edition
