Karfang's Krusaderz

Recommended Posts

Been an ork player on and off since joining this hobby, lurked and posted a bit on bolter but can't remember how to post images. Some help would be appreciated in this regard.

Onto the Orks-

Oi, listen up good Krusaderz!!! Stand at attentun best parade gear we haz got to show dese uver lads what dis WAAAAAGHHH! is all about. -

Karfang Gooldtoof(Toofstealer behind his back) is the leader of the Blood Axe tribe, Beakie Smasherz formerly known as those unorky gitz by all the other orkz on this dying rock. The planets name since long forgotten as orkz care not for things like that.

The Runtherdz tell stories off when the old Waaaaaggh!! came and brought them to this rock and the Great fights had with the hummiez and beakiez but that was long since past.

Over the last few spore cycles the orks had grown ever restless, the Wierdboyz feeling the glare of more burning into their mind. Nobz where preparing for leadership challenges, packing on the muscle and fighting anyone smaller than them.

Karfang knew there would be a challenge soon, the Kommandoz Nob Gutrippa was getting restless with the lack of a good fight. Then a plan started to form, an assination and looting raid on the Goldtoof Bad Moonz tribe. If Gutrippa doesn't make it back even better, either way he was going to be rolling in enough teef to finally get that damn Mek to build his gunwagon!

A few dayz later the Kommandoez appear in his 'strategy room' aka his dakka room just as he's finishing cleaning his favourite gun. "'Ere boss, we dun him in gud and ripped all his teef out, showy off git" Gutrippa threw Scragga's head minus teef on the floor, it was still alive but barely saw Karfang just put his iron soled boot through the thick sloped cranium.

Outside Karfang bellowed to the ladz "listen 'ere you gitz, Scragga haz been dun in so now we is going to go krump all his Boyz and loot his gear. Get in da trucks and let's ride."

Karfang thought to himself "Now diz was a good week, I got me some new ladz though that Kustom Krew might have to the boot if there dakka gets any bigger. I wonder how that Mekboyz doing, I best go kick him and make sure he's done" he set out to go oversee construction of his new buggy.

To post images you are going to want to copy the url for your image off of whatever photo hosting site you use, then in your post use the following except replace the parenthesis with square brackets.

So (img)your url here(/img) using parenthesis instead of square brackets to show what it should look like in the example- but make sure to change them to brackets [] when you put pictures up!

Looking forward to seeing pics of your crusade force!

Going to be a slow progress weekend, chefs and bank holidays means little time so instead going to get this log sorted out to try and keep me focused. My ASD with traits of ADHD means I get distracted by new ideas for conversions easily haha.

Meet Gutrippa, long been employed as the right arm of Karfang meeting out his will to unsuspecting enemies and subordinates alike. Gutrippa considers himself to be the most proppa Blood Axe in camp, his Boss's tastes getting a little too flashy for him since consuming the smaller bad moonz tribe. Sure ya gotta break a few headz and okay melting the old boss's gold teef down and making bigger ones for you with them is a good plan then looting half his name for good measure of loyalty is dead kunning. The Dakka Nobz sure are useful in a firefight and in his 'eart he knows the Moonz only follow the flash and the kash. Dammit he muttered under his breath, diz is why he's da boss sure i could kill off most of em from the shadows but who would follow me none of the other klans dats for sure.

Snazzmaster Burdok leads the Kustom Krew, a ruthles bunch of nobz who prefer to engage their enemies from afar armed to the teef with dakka. Since their small tribe was consumed by the Beakie Smasherz they grow restless and unsettled itching for a good scrap to start before they wander off on their own.

Ironsidez nears build completion. Not sold on the rim holding the turret on but my brain couldn't come up with a better way to have it rotatable/removable due to the slight irregularity of its sides. Riveting took a while but it was well worth it.

The WAAAAAGGH! energy around the campsite was becoming palpable even to the least sensitive of orkz. Their primal need for bloodlust reaching a crescendo, the air crackling with ferocity, fights starting over the smallest slight or glance. All this energy around brought out the Wierdboyz, seeking Karfang to impart their visions of war. at long last they would get a good scrap, not since he took control of the tribe have they had anyone but each other to fight and they desperately need to leave this rock. To this end he heeds the ravings of Chief Warphead Tigrork when Mork grips him in his vice, who warns of giant beasts with snarling maws and singing warriors. All Karfang hears is that a good scrap is coming, time to go deal with those ever tinkering Deathskullz over the mountain ranges.

Enter Chief Warphead Tigrork

Ok, I will offer a small amount of criticism, I love your version of the model looks very different from my boss! But I think you will be able to do something I wasn't able todo.

I would look at moving the "right' arm (Aka the gun arm). If you cut at the shoulder you can rotate the shoulder by around and have the gun pointing more to the ground as if the Boss is pausing before moving for another attack.

Thanks man, always gotta try and out your own take on a conversion.

Yeah the angle of the gun-arm is one of my small bugbears with him, what kind of angle would you recommend? A near mirror of his big choppa?

Yeah. It depends on how you cut it but having the gun pointing down will look more natural. And some greenstuff and armour plates will hide that shoulder well.

Well now the arms been lopped off and playing about with angles I'm torn between a resting pose and looking down the barrel. So many options hmmm

He looks good with the new angle of the shoota, if your worried about the quality of your greenstuffing you could simply add some armor plates to the side of the arm as extra protection whilst still showing the muscles you've done

I'm going all deathskullz and stealing the Nob as a weirdboy idea  :ph34r.: , I have a spare nob with big choppa...er I mean Big weirdboy stick :tongue.: ... now I look at it, he's wearing a chaos warrior cloak ?!...

your work is great, Thanks for sharing your stuff (and ideas :tongue.: )

Cheers, Mithril

++EDIT++

Forgot to mention, you could put some thin plasticard plates over the turret ring to look like an armoured lip between the ring and turret, that way it hides the non uniform ring...or you greenstuff it some more to look like a big weld run ...

Thanks man, my biggest worry is lopsided arms after adding more armour.

Now the greenstuff will be dry yeah armour plates on the turret ring is a good shout, I tried a plasticad cover round outside earlier but looked derpy so gunna try segmented instead.

Yeah aha he is wearing a chaos warrior cloak after the bad moon wierdboys cloak I freehand greenstuff was a pain in rhe ass, feel free to deathskull as much as you want like in universe no new ork idea stays unique for long haha.

Looking at your warboss, if you put extra armour plates on his gun arm it would be a gladiator look of having his gun arm as a defensible/shield arm cause his Choppa is in his left arm and that would be the side of his body to the rear as in getting ready turn his torso for a big crushing swing with it...

med_gallery_9146_583_318092.jpg

good luck with the turret ring and thanks for letting me "borrow" your ideas

Cheers, Mithril

After taking control of the Goldtoof tribe via assassination, melting down the enemy warboss's gold teef and creating his own set of chompers. Karfang rightfully took the name too, he knew if he was too totally consume the other tribe then he must be an Ork that Bad Moonz can follow too. This meant making sure Geargutz wasn't ripping them off for new kustoms and also sporting more bling himself. Kunnin before Brutal is what his old boss said, Karfang learnt that lesson well. Growing in size ready for a challenge of leadership and then assassinating his enemy or paying some other warband to do it. He got his grotz to show their grotz how to clean weapons down better and maintain them, his boyz needed reliable ones for stealth work but making all their gear look shinier was a sure way to prevent an uprising from an ambitious Nob happening to early.

Here are the shoota and tankbusta boyz of the Goldtoof Tribe

No painting managed this weekend due to work but I did find the time to knock up two converted killa kans, one a donated old ven dread from my bro as he never painted and uses his 6 or so more wolfy dreads instead and the other from an eldar war walker i got for cheaps of devilbay. With the Ork start collecting being an okay/good deal depending on what ya need. So i figured I would just loot the first dread kit for some kans, then i plan on mashing the 2nd one up with a contemptor(sp?)dread or invictor warsuit for 2 dreads, then try find a way to bulk out a wraithlord with leftover parts for dread #3
