Kitbashing bits in the BSS box

Indefragable

Recommended Posts

I always found it quite simple to change up Space Marines, swapping out different arm, leg, helmet, etc... bits within the same box to create some variety and prevent having too many identically assembled dudes. In essence, taking the helmet from Guy A and putting it on Guy B and putting Guy B’s arms on Guy C and C’s arms on A etc... Very simple yet effective technique.

However, as I delve into SoB, I find the above method a bit more challenging due to the robes. Am I just a newb or is it harder to stretch the bits from the Battle Sisters Box?

Case in point, if I want to blend melee bits to make more than one Superior, I find some of the pieces don’t gel as smoothly as I would like, or as simply as they did for SM, IG, Inq, or pretty much any other human faction.

is it just me or do you have a similar experience?

I've had a similar experience, but mostly with weapons slung across the body. I found it really easy to give a Sister dual melta pistols or give an Icon Bearer a Zephyrim blade. At the same time, I also found that swapping weapons between individual models in a kit doesn't always work because of the poses. I've sort of got mixed feelings about it because I love the models, but it makes it harder to give a special model a unique pose. At the same time, it's hard to complain seeing as the basic models are beautiful and I can't imagine there's a way to do them such that there's free posing.

I think all you need is a sharp scalpel. You can easily cut at the spot where the gloves go over the Armour. That way I built two superiors from one box of bss and also did some more fun stuff. I don't have the seraphim box yet so I can't tell how they mix with the bssbox. But I can say bss and retributors do mix very well with some cutting effort. They definitely made it hard to build more superiors without any cutting. Edited by Maschinenpriester

Yea I'm gonna have to play around with things for sure. That is a great call about chopping at the gloves rather than the wrists.

There's some comments in this older topic about converting, especially between the retributor and BSS boxes.

I have also found that the shoulder pads and robes makes it very forgiving to shave a little from the arm's shoulder and just stick it up under the pad, as it easily hides any small gaps that may be present.
