Army building clarification

I think I'm right but I want to be sure that I understand it;

Scenario 1)

2000 points; 12 CP

Chaos Daemons Battalion - costs 3 CP, so down to 9.

Warlord in this datachment = +3 CP so back up to 12.

Chaos Marines patrol detachment - costs 2CP, so down to 10.

Death Guard Vanguard detachment - costs 3 CP, so down to 7.

Three detachments from three difference codices, 7 CP for the game.

Scenario 2)

2000 points; 12 CP

Space Marine Vanguard detachment - costs 3CP so down to 9

Space marine spearhead detachment - costs 3 cp so down to 6

Space marine outrider detachment - costs 3 cp so down to 3

Three detachments from the same codex, 3 CP for the game.

In both of those cases the army is battle forged, yes?

If however I wanted to 'counts as' traitor guard in the first option, replacing the death guard with Astra Militarum units then that army would no longer be battle forged as <chaos> is replaced by <imperium>

Yes, essentially due to the absence of a Battalion or Brigade detachment as Primary (Warlord containing) detachment.

Following up on your final question, if you wanted to include Astra Militarum units, depending on which ones, you could use the Renegades and Heretics list from Forgeworld, which would allow them to have the Chaos Keyword, instead of Imperium, and remain Battle-forged.

However if you chose (or had) to use them with the Imperium Keyword, then yes, you would lose Battle-forged.
