Hopefully the codex will make us happier... ?!?...
otherwise I’ll happily play my 60 Necron Warriors aggressively and play cat and mouse with my destroyers ;-)
And get a void dragon !!!

Necron Warriors are a lot more durable than they used to be. I think 3 squads of 20 is the way to go.
Their new Str5 weapon (forget the name), now that it's Assault 2 is very appealing to me.
I think that custom dynasty trait that allows the whole army to move 6" before the game starts might be the way to go with this army.
Anyways, the new re-animation is significantly better for 1 wound models.

Yes. 20 Reapers in a Night Scythe could put a lot of pressure on most targets and would be challenging to shift.

Aye, all this hype h a s been making me want to collect crons again. Rebuild the old silver tide I had. Ocean of warriors with cryptek, Sczaras (whatever his name), ghost arks, monolith and some destroyers. All done up in classic terminator chrome.
Now is a good time to dive in. The Necron half of Indomitus can be picked up pretty cheaply on eBay at the moment but that will change as supplies of Indomitus run out and the models are either released separately or replaced with multi-part kits. For someone looking to start Necrons from scratch, Indomitus is great value.

Alas, supporting family with low income means collecting is done a unit at a time once or twice a year at most, and even then it comes with a small amount of selfish guilt.
Funny that, will happily save up for things for the rest of the family but anything for myself just feels wrong.

It's also not all mortal wounds. Mortal wounds dealt in the course of a standard attack sequence can be reanimated still
This is correct. Otto, there are still a TON of ways to suffer mortal wounds, via attacks. Those are not counted here because RP defends against attacks.
These are all the ways you can suffer mortal wounds or death OUTSIDE the attack sequence, where RP doesn't protect you.
Kain, good catch! I also added even more things to the list.
Honestly, RP IMO already needs a complete overhaul, and it hasn't even been released yet. It's terribly uneven across the army, and now you have to haul this list around with you so you can even play it right. It's severely inconsistent, and IMO that's bad for game design.

It is a vast, vast stretch to suggest that anyone would need to keep that list close to hand in able to understand when RP does and does not apply. IN fact, it'd be a hell of a stretch to suggest that list even helps people know what to be prepared for. I know what maybe 80 percent of those rules are off of the top of my head, and youc ould toss a large part of them out the window because they won't ever be used. The remainder is split up into chunky salsa and sprinkled through the armies you'll face.
Aside from the very general rule of psychic, explosions, and transport deaths bypassing RP, the rest are pretty situational/restricted/expensive. Also, to call the rule unbalanced across the army is a little silly. Spiders have a close to 0 percent chance of it going off without 2 out of 3 dead and the orb being used, and destroyers give it the side eye without the orb being used, but I wouldn't call it imbalanced. You'll still pop a single destroyer up often enough if 2 die, and your 1-2 wound models love it. That's most of the army, really.
Those models that take damage without dying also have living metal now, which is extremely tasty on anything 2-3 wounds, and helps combine with RP, as well as the other 'return model to life' abilities to give Necrons pretty great staying power.
WE as a community are really going to have to move past this 3+ wounds hangup. There are problems with the Necron book that I'd like to see addressed, , but RP is not one of them.

Posted 10 October 2020 - 11:33 AM

One 5+ needed to RP this model over here, but four 5+ for that model over there. You can use RP in these situations here, but not those over there.
IMO it should be one success result needed for any size model, and applicable to all dead bots from any source (except morale of course).
