Behold, the Mega Bommer

I can only imagine what the price tag on this forgeworld piece is going to be, but maybe we'll see a similar release for a Tau Manta at some point?

Yeah this is insane, and also kind of encouraging. If FW can make resin kits for AI, and design them from scratch not based on existing designs, then the game can expand a lot.

I also like that they're giving it a taller base. My first thought when I saw it was that you wouldn't be able to fit any other planes nearby.

The single, 10 firepower bomb is quite interesting. Is there anything in AI that would warrant dropping that on? Maybe that's not a very orky question...

Ah yes, because orks needed an even bigger bomber.

Wow this looks really cool.

The only flaw with this one is it seems you could kit bash it from 2 Eavy Bombers and it may be cheaper than resin while remaining lore friendly and authentically Orky, so I'm not sure if this will take off from the shelves.

Yes, I don’t have any love of FW anymore, I can’t afford their prices and I don’t like to put in the extra modelling effort on their “premier” product i.e. average moulds warped or cracked bits, and the shipping costs.

I will definitely buy the Eavy Bommer’s box for $90.00 Aus and kitbash a mega bommer from them, rather than fork out the excruciating high price tag FW is going to ask...

I admit yes it’s an awesomely cool looking model and I’m happy for others getting this and the fact they may offer other AI products down the line....

Mother of Gork that’s big!

If it helps anyone, I did a size comparison by scale matching the base size.

If the Mega Bommer preview pic is accurate at all, the base angle matches previous previews perfectly, like the Grot Bommers and Eavy Bommers.

So, here’s the Mega Bommer vs the Grot Bommer as they appear and then also flipped so they’re facing the same way (wing span comparison too). I chose the Grot Bommer for comparison as its the same frame as the Eavy Bommer but also shows those cute little Grot Bomms :happy.:

Ah that's very useful, I wondered if I'd misunderstood the size...

Perhaps 3 Eavy bombers then :biggrin.:

I'm not convinced that the mega-bommer pic actually has the taller flying stand - the base looks identical to the one on the Grot Bommer. I think they've done a bit of photoshopping of the mega-bommer over a "stock" base image.

  • 4 weeks later...

Time sure does fly hey. Then again one month from preview to release is pretty good really.

The new preview pic on Warcom doesn't seem to be as photoshopped as the original preview pic.

Hopefully when this goes up for pre-order on Friday they include a pic with another Ork flyer for scale comparison.
