Death Guard Green Paint

Is it just me or is death guard green the hardest paint to paint with? I find I have to thin it down to the point it’s almost a glaze to get a smooth coat, and then it runs everywhere and I have to do like 6 or 7 coats. If not it it is thick and blotchy. I swear this is the only paint that’s like this and it’s been two pots like this too. Anyone else experience this?

DGG is by far the worst base paint in my opinion, I actually made a post awhile ago about this. I assumed it was a bad pot, until i talked to others and it was everyone thinking it was more like a layer paint. I constantly had issues with it either airbrush or paintbrush. I gave up and started looking for alternative like Death World Forest.

I've had issues with it as well. Tried basecoating some models from Dark Imperium to start a small Death Guard force, and it isn't working well. Looks like I'm going to have to do like 5 or so coats to get decent coverage.

Are you painting small amounts with it or can you undercoat with it? I've only used the regular paint to touch up before shading but I've had some of my best painting with it from a spray can as the base coat.

Awesome pic bud!

And yes. I typically base coat my Death Guard with Death Guard Green spray when I can. I had a few Blightkings for Warcry I was doing along with Lord Felthius’ cape I undercoated with wraithbone because the dominant color wasn’t green. Painting the plate armor green was a pain in the ass

This whole thread makes me want to finish the bulk of my DG army while GW still sells the spray can haha.

Maybe try Vallejo Model Colour 70924 russian uniform ww2. Almost same colour, cheaper and covers fine.

I just have to say thank you for the recommendation, that color works perfectly!!! It’s just a tad darker, but totally fine in mixed units with some agrax over it. Thank you!

Can you give us a preview of the differences?

I wonder if there is a Vallejo model air variant...

I've been on a warcry kick lately so I hope Blightkings are OK as my Death Guard are primed and in my to paint bin at the moment.

I airbrush mine. Transferred to a dropped bottle. I thin my paint when I transfer it and that resulted in me having a pretty glossy finish so I also added some flat clear/flat base to the dropper. Overall it’s not been that much of an issue for me. Edited by Bloody Legionnaire
