To Stowage or not to stowage on tanks

I've got one Repulsor built with another to go before Gladiators go on sale.  The primaris army I have (almost entirely easy to build guys I got off eBay) will be painted to look a US Marine Corps plain desert camo theme.  Before I spray my tanks I'm looking over all the little stowage bits they come and I'm really surprised.

I have more Rhinos and Landraiders than you can shake a stick at and they come without any external boxes, ropes, extra track links, etc while IG tanks come with very, very little.  I'm really curious why GW added all these extra bits to hover tanks because it would seem REALLY inconvenient to jump up and grab ammo boxes or fuel tanks off a floating tank.  :laugh.:

What are your thoughts on adding all kinds of stowage to Marine tanks?  I feel like if I start adding the bits to Repulsors then maybe I should go full WW2-Sherman-or-Panzer look and add all kinds of crap on top. I actually bought some medical gauze to soak in sandy paint to add to the top as camo netting.  Do you think this would look goofy on a hover tank?  I would never dream of making my Deathwing Landraiders look like a station wagon on moving day, I feel they're too dignified for that...? :unsure.:

Done right I think it can look very cool. I've seen a few Raptor armies with stowage on all their tanks, including a Repulsor. Some have looked spectacular, others have looked rather goofy. Typically the good ones keep it to the sides and the back and don't go to overboard. But its all really a personal preference. Much like color schemes or head choices. Its your army, build and paint it the way you think looks cool.

The original concept was that Marines go into battle as a strike force, hit hard and hit fast. The idea was that Guard were loaded up for long drawn out campaigns but marines only took what they needed into that battle then leave. This is why beyond Rogue Trader era you don't see stowage that often other than on fan stuff.

I think it's hard to say what they would have to carry extra beyond ammo as their suit can be recharged by the troop transports, they don't need much food so it boils down mostly to guns and ammo. But given the state of the Imperium I think it would be fair to say that some marines may be cut off and carrying what they need for the campaign.

I think it's down to personal preference and the situation your marines are in at the time.

I haven't finished my Repulsor Executioner yet, but I'm planning on having some of the stowage/gubbins on it just to add some visual interest. Then again, my Dark Angels and (eventual) Emperor's Spears are a bit more reasonable, so they'd have extra kit on their IFVs to aid the rest.

Plus: My Dark Angels (non-Primaris) are 30k-based, so more stowage and stuff fits.

I also don't like having gunners in the cupola on the standard Repulsor, the turret just doesn't seem big enough!

Have you seen how small turrets are in most tanks? The Repulsor's turret is positively roomy when it comes to the size :laugh.:

I leave all mine off for a cleaner silhouette closer to the old Land Raiders - https://www.instagram.com/p/B9OTuP8HGd0/

I think it looks better empty in black. If my primary color is Zandri Dust I don’t know what to do. This feels like a much better kit option for a Russ, not necessarily a hover tank but it might work better on my desert recon theme.

I don’t know what to do but I can’t spray them till I decide! Gah!

But even then, I don't expect the gunner and the cupola weapon to be bigger than the turret itself!

You'd be surprised.... The Repulsor's turret is small, but most space in a tank turret isn't used by the crew whatsoever :laugh.:

In the first picture, that circular cylinder? That's where the crew is in the turret up until the hatch.
