Interaction between Stormwing, MoS and snapshots

So I am wondering how these things interact. We know that moving with a heavy weapon means you are forced to fire snapshots, which are done as if you had BS1. Then having a Scion of Stormwing in your unit means that you and everyone in the unit fire snapshots at BS2. So far so good. How about if you then have a Master of Signals nearby who would like to give +1 BS to the unit? Could you actually chainbuff a support squad with volkite calivers all the way up to firing snapshots at BS3 by having a Scion of Stormwing in the unit and a Master of Signals nearby?

No, because you would apply the modifiers in this manner:

Base BS 4 + 1 From MoS = BS5 -> Snapshooting = BS1 Override -> Stormwing Override = BS2 Snapshots.

The interaction is similar to how Unwieldy works.

I feel that you only really get decent mileage out of the bs2 snapshots with the plasma flame rule if you can set it up right.

Against someone who throws melee units around like world eaters, blood angels etc. It could work really well as a counter assault. Rerolls to hit with bs2 ap2 could mince half a unit beforehand they got into combat, palatineblades/dawnbreakers/deathsworn glass cannons without any invul saves would feel the burn a lot....pun intended.

Edit to add: you could also try and use the oracle array of the new troop jet bike unit. I think the +1 to hit from the oracle would stack with the BS2 snapshots...

The bonus applies in the shooting phase only. Edited by Gorgoff

I was referring to the OP's question, should have made that clearer.

If a stormwing volkite caliver squad moved and so fired snapshots at BS2 they could have their shooting bolstered by the oracle array lighting up their target before the shoot.

Ah, I see.

Then we're back at what Slips said.

"Base BS 4 + 1 From MoS = BS5 -> Snapshooting = BS1 Override -> Stormwing Override = BS2 Snapshots."

Oracle Array is only active during the shooting phase, however. Once you're making overwatch attacks its the Assault Phase and the buff is gone even if snapshooting would mention "as if it was the shooting phase"

The only time the Oracle Array would provide the bonus for hitting on 4s with BS2 Snapshots is when you designate a flyer or other unit that forces snapshots and shoot at them during your own shooting phase.
