Hey guys, I’ve been feeling a little down lately because I feel like the changes with points and detachments made the army I was building impossible, and felt that I had to wait for a new codex to see if anything new would happen so that I could still try to build towards my original goal (mass of bodies) spent some time talking with another frater today, and and came up with some modifications that I feel decent with building towards for the time being. Wanted to get some additional eyes on it and see what you guys think. Before I post the list I’ll give you some insight as to why some of the things are the way they are.

Firstly, it’s two battalions and a patrol. This is because I originally wanted 15 elite choices, but to pull that off i needed either 3 battalions, or a brigade and a battalion. 3 battalions cost more Cp and I would need a 6th HQ, and there’s no infantry fast attack choice (yet?). This set up only cost me 5 CP, and to be honest I ended up needing the extra points anyway.

Second, originally I had 3 astropaths, but Schlitzaf suggested a priest, which while I don’t intend to get into CC, the option is there, and if I turned one astropath into a Primaris by dropping a lord commissar, so that was a cool evolution of the list. I had to drop 3 heavy weapons teams from the infantry squads, which I then switched the plasma guns into melta guns so that they can be advance teams. This gave me an extra five points so I changed the heavy weapon in one infantry squad into a lascannon, threw that into the patrol, added the heavy weapons teams, made it all Cadian, now I’ve got a back line.

Reason I’m using missile launchers and grenade launchers with the veteran squads is because that’s what I gave and started to make them with before the points changed, but I also like that people will target the lascannon infantry squads before they target missile launcher veterans. Sadly I do not have the points for lascannon infantry squads (except the one)

Not 100% on which warlord trait and relic to take.

That's a lot of bodies. Power to you my man, even though I wouldn't want to run that many bodies myself. I think it can actually do pretty well in swarming objectives, simple because without high rate of fire it won't be easy to clear out.

You may run into an issue with deployment, actually...I'm not sure you'll be able to put all those men into every board setup initially. You definitely want to take into account reserving some CP for putting guys in reserve.

As for Warlord-trait, Master of Command seems like a straightforward choice to make sure you can actually utilise enough orders to boost your troops. For a relic you could consider the Laurels of Commmand on the same guy to double down on orders, or Kurov's Aquila to gain some more CP throughout the game. Always good when you spend a chunk upfront and definitely got a new lease on life for me now that everyone else starts with more cp.

The priest is a nice addition that can be helpful in a pinch, especially as you will definitely be stuck in CC...just not sure how useful it'll be. Going back to a Lord Commissar may be the better choice. His Ld-bubble is going to cover a lot of units and will be especially helpful with those Conscripts. And if you keep him near your Psykers he can prevent them from blowing big chunks in your army when they get perils. Especially dangerous for Astropaths as they can die from one bad perils-roll.

I'd agree about master of command, but it needs to be on the lord commissar. The lord commissar doesn't need to test when issuing orders to conscripts. The test is only for when officers give orders. Commissars don't have the officer keyword, so conscripts will not need to take the test.

So I’ll start with 7 CP, definitely think I should pay two CP to put 19 PL worth of guys into reserves. Could be 5 infantry squads and two officers to take a flank, or swap out some for special weapons, get some plasma into rapid fire range.

Laurels of command is a good choice, is it possible to pay a CP to take an extra relic for kurovs Aquila? Definitely think I should take master of command on the lord commissar.

The priest could be a hit or miss really, but I think I’ll try it out a few times and see what happens.

I’m kinda wish that u could have a third heavy bolter (so that things are in 3’s, I’m wondering if taking out one of the conscript squads and turning it into two more infantry squads with heavy weapons might play out.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
