Hello chaps. First post here so hello to you all! I've been kicking around DakkaDakka and the Specialist arms forum for a while and there's a few people I recognise (or at least their work!). This place seems to have the most active AT community so I joined :D

I've recently been convinced (it didn't take much convincing I admit) to get into AT. So, true to my normal form I delicately and tentatively bought 4 starter sets, a Nemesis Titan and 3 Warlords. Just, y'know, to start off small right? Oh...... and decided to do a new board for my little tiny Titans. So, here will be my ramblings and occasional updates on a project that may, or may not, get completed.

But, enough ramblings. Pictures!!

I know they look similar but there are two Warhounds there. I'll crack on with some weathering once I do the bases but I'll base the whole Axiom Maniple at the same time. They could probably do with some chips to their armour plates as well.

Next up some Reavers I guess? Oh........ and Orks. Anyone got any Rules for Orks in AT? I'd love to do Orks after my Imperials.

There is a guy doing Ork rules on the AT2018 Facebook group. He writes all of them in 'ork' and the few I have seen are hilarious!

Very nice. It's unusual to see the skeleton done in black instead of metal. It works well.

C+C always welcome on my Titanic Plog. Should really be painting Crimson Fists.

Very nice indeed. I do like the black skeleton too. Very nice and works beautifully with the colour scheme.

I'll be interested to see how the rest of your 'minor purchases' come along.

Welcome Princeps!

The purple and white is a classic (and classy) color scheme, and there are so many variations of how you put it together that I doubt you'll have any issues of "Twin Titans."

As for Ork rules, take a look here

Thanks for all the replies chaps (there's too many to multi quote!)

The colour scheme is something I've toyed with for a while. I wanted to do something similar on a 40k Knight army but I just wasn't brave enough to tackle that much white at that scale! The black Skeleton was pinched off Canis Rex - As it looks awesome and it lets me concentrate on details nicely like that little computer screen on the Turbo laser...... Well, I thought it was a computer screen anyway. As for the Legio, I honestly have no idea. They haven't even got a name yet and I certainly haven't picked a set of rules to go with.

Some WIP shots of my Reavers. They look pretty messy at the moment and I'm not sure I like the purple.... It's a bit Tron like and I'm not overly fond of harsh highlights..... So they might well get toned down with a wash at some point. I'll wait until the Gold is done first before I make that call though.

As for the Ork rules, I've seen those! Although I can't say I'm much a fan of the Krew rules. They just seem a bit unnecessary. The Machine Spirit rules could have just been done with some sort of 'squabble' mechanic like in WHFB...... I dunno. I wont pretend to know the rules so may it's ok?

I rather like the purple. You could blend both the purple and white highlights into the main colors with a little more rough blending and then a wash to help bring it all together.

Thanks mate :D

Now that I've done some other colours the purple doesn't stand out so much. I think the gold draws attention away from it and makes the highlights seem less 'harsh'. Either way, I'm much happier with them now than I was!!

I did say that I don't paint quickly, didn't I? Because I've been painting these all week. It's taken me 6-8 hours just to tidy up the trim and paint the gold..... but they are almost done! Just have to highlight the black, do the copper tubing, lenses and random little details and bits that I haven't worked out how to paint yet.

Due to needing something easy to dabble on to give my eyes a rest I've been working on this wee chap. No idea what he's for yet as he certainly wont be painted in the White/Purple scheme. If anyone was wondering if the Vanguard Terrain turrets scaled right for AT reavers, well, they do. I converted one up to be a Plasma Blast gun purely because a mate of mine wondered about them.

Thanks guys. :D I'll claim that its due to building abut 10000pts of Knights but really its because, like a fool, I try the poses out myself :D

Right, it's been a while since I did any meaningful painting but I've managed to get the two Reavers ' almost done' (yeah, ok, I need to actually do the guns). I haven't done the writing yet and I'm still deciding on names. (Weapons and names are tomorrows/Friday's job). The pictures turned out rubbish and these are the best of the blurry bunch so I'll take some decent pictures tomorrow when the scripture is done.... but you get the idea.

I also decided on a colour scheme for my Blackshield Reaver. I'm some sort of masochist it seems when it comes to choosing colour schemes apparently... Still a long way to go but I'm getting there.

Those are very nice Reavers and the poses are excellent. Great job on the diamond pattern too.

I'm a bit less sure about the yellow areas on the blackshield. Yellow is a notoriously difficult colour and I'm not sure it's quite worked. It feels a bit like it's from a different colour palette to the muted tones on the diamond pattern. The yellow seems almost fluorescent next to that. I think you might do a bit better with more of a creamy yellow colour.

This might just be the photo doing odd stuff, as sometimes happens. If you're happy with it, you've definitely got a distinctive model there that looks very dramatic.

Thanks guys. You might be right about the yellow. I think the pics don't really help but it might be that I washed the red after I highlighted it so it is a bit muted compared to the Yellow. Conundrum...... Hightlight the red up or shade the yellow down?

Anyway, as promised some less blurry pics and they now have names!!

Those titans look awesome, both the posing and the painting! Regarding the blackshield titan, I would vote for highlighting the red a bit, I think the yellow is nice but the red looks a bit too muted in comparison. Plus, I think it will make the checkers pattern pop out a bit more if you increase the contrast between the red and the black!

Maybe do a bit of both, bringing the two colours closer? It’s a really beaten up looking engine (nicely done by the way) SL a really bright, clean yellow seems a bit improbable. That’s why I like the red as it is. It looks aged and worn, which suits the look of a titan that’s been through the mill a bit.

C+C always welcome on my Titanic Plog. Should really be painting Crimson Fists.

Me again!I took your advice and did a bit of both. I put 2 watered down washes of Sepia over the yellow and it has toned it down a fair deal. However the camera still loves brightening it up and dulling down the red.... So I've giving up trying to sort that out! She's finished, well, apart for some minor details that I've just noticed. The car on the base isn't painted nor is it even stuck on!

XogCoC1.jpg

I started work on some scenery )buildings, roads and hills). Nothing too fancy. the buildings will have bases and I need to make some more road sections as well but its enough for a 4x4 board..

Me: I'm not going to spend too much time on scenery...

Also Me: Spends 2 hours on painting Nuka Cola signs....

I also picked up some little Z guage railway cars and trucks to give a sense of scale.....

kZZgHvm.jpg

WV2g7Wy.jpg

The trucks and cars scale pretty well I think. Maybe not perfect but they'll do. I've finsihed the White and Purple Reavers/Warhounds and I'm just finishing off their bases. So expect pictures of those tomorrow :D

I hadn't considered using Z-Scale vehicles (or cargo containers) for scale or base dressing. I'll have to look into that.
