Starting some Crusades! - 08/12 bright green Space Marines!

Greetings and welcome to the realms of madness and creativity!

This will be the start of a hobby blog that I've been meaning to throw together for a while. I've been lurking these forums for years now, and it's time to actually show the small collection of miniatures I've slowly been working on. The current world situation and lockdown has certainly helped productivity!

I've always preferred the narrative style of forging an army and then playing based on storytelling. This has meant the new Crusade rules for 9th Edition really sparked my imagination and this thread will also document the Crusade armies I've come up with, as well as the background behind them and how they develop. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to game regularly, but hopefully will find the chance to lead my armies to glory!

Currently, the "projects" I have going are as follows:

  • Black Legion - this has been my main army for over 15 years, so will probably be the main focus!
  • Daemons - because I have a bunch of Daemon models due to the above
  • Word Bearers - I accidentely started a new army somehow!
  • Sisters of Battle - more on this later....

So without further ado, let's introduce the "Leaders" of my Black Legion Crusade.

Eligos the Blooded, Commander of the Red Hand, Exalted Champion of the Black Legion

HUHm1VOl.jpg

The Red Hand are a faction within the Black Legion who follow a ritualistic warrior code. Often, the current "Commander" of the Red Hand is their greatest warrior, having never lost in the sacred duels that the faction hosts regularly. It is said the current reigning champion, Eligos, is whispered to by the Gods, and will lead the Red Hand to glory on the battlefield.

dQlBfscm.jpggmsgEV7m.jpg

Often, warriors of the Red Hand will paint their right hand red to mark their allegiance, and draw crude simples across their armour. This process is accompanied by rituals devoted to the shedding of blood and conquest in battle. Many outside the faction theorise this as the first steps of falling to the Blood God's enslavement, but none have yet dared to ask what the true purpose for their rituals and sacrifices is.

Zaluran Cranos, Prophet of the Black Legion

g6LRwWAl.jpg

Zaluran has floated between different warbands for centuries, offering his services to the highest bidder. As a gifted sorcerer of Chaos, his power comes mostly from foresight and visions of the future. This he has used to guide and advise several warlords throughout the years, in return for forbidden artifacts and knowledge.

wrfzHn0l.jpg

Recently his path has led him to the warriors of the Red Hand. Speaking words of prophecy, he has whispered tales of a pilgrimage to a sector in the Imperium, but to what end this will lead to, none can yet say. It is rumoured that Zaluran is working for a higher power or another Warlord, but the Sorcerer keeps his secrets to himself.

------------------------------

So an Exalted Champion and a Sorcerer to start with! I'm a big fan of converting, kit-bashing and ensuring every model is unique. The above 2 models are examples of this, and the parts come from a range of different kits. The Sorcerer was done a few years ago, but the Exalted Champion is a recent completion.

I have quite a lot of the initial 50 Power Level Crusade done, but I'll share them over the course of a few posts (along with the WIPs). I also have the other Armies I'm currently working on, but all in due course!

Comments and critiscisms always welcome. Thanks for looking!

Time to show off some of the Troops that my first Crusade will contain!

These were done some time ago, with the exception of the bases. I've recently finally settled on how to create the sort of bases I want, so have been slowly basing all of my old miniatures squad by squad. I eventually want to create a full gaming board based on an urban section of an ice world. So lots of snow!

I also haven't come up with solid background for the Troops sections yet, and struggling to find a suitable naming convention for Chaos Space Marine squads. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Chaos Space Marine Squad 1

mSJVwwYl.jpgwxjWRQnl.jpg

These will be the Chaos Marines currently assigned to the Sorcerer in the first post, as both bodyguard and a bit of muscle for him to order around. Where their original allegiance lies is still up for debate.

--------------------------------

I used a mix of different parts from several different kits to create them, as well as adding plasticard to the thighs and waist to make them a bit taller. It always annoyed me that Marines were the same size as Humans, so adding a little bit of height really gives them a more intimidating presence. There's also a few added bits from the forge world heresy armour kits, as I'd imagine Black Legion marines come from everywhere and anywhere and will use whatever they can salvage.

Chaos Cultists Squad 1

VPoOJXBl.jpg

Alongside the Chaos Marines fighting for Sorcerer Zaluran is a sizeable force of Traitor Guardsmen. Following their fall to the Chaos Gods, the humans were ravished by a deadly plague, which has continued to corrupt them. It is said that this is a blessing from the Plague God himself, but as more and more of the Guardsmen fell to the illness, measures had to be taken to ensure they could continue serving their masters.

--------------------------------

I never really liked the new Cultist models, so when I saw that Forge World did these Renegade Guardsman kits, I was sold. The intitial plan was to make a full Renegade and Heretics army, but time, money and new editions has put that on hold. I still have about 20 more sitting to be made, along with a Chimera and 3 Heavy Weapons teams, so I may go and flesh out the full force some day. For now, they'll do as the cannon fodder for my power-armoured warriors!

As this is a WIP thread, I'll include a snapshot of the last Troops choice I'm working on - 20 more Cultists!

Z4UTwgal.jpg

Bases are all ready, and there's only 3 left to paint to bring the squad size up to 20. Hopefully they'll get done soon!

C&C welcome and thanks for looking!

@Bjorn Firewalker

Chances are Maiden were playing at some point when painting these! I can definitely see the resemblance to Eddie. Maybe I should use that for the name of the Squad Leader (or at least make his first name Edward!)

--------------------------------

On to the most recent models I purchased, Sisters of Battle! Years and years ago I wanted to collect Sisters of Battle, but was always put off by the all-metal range. I made a vow that if they ever came out in plastic, I'd collect them. Never thought I'd see the day! So here I am now, starting up my own Sisters of Battle force.

I decided to go with the Order of the Sacred Rose, partly because I fancied giving white a try at painting, but mostly because I thought they looked awesome! It makes a nice change from all the darker tones of the Chaos Marines. I've only picked up a squad and a couple of the limited edition models at the moment, as I've decided to not buy any new models until I've finished the ones I've got!

Here's the WIP of my first squad (about 90% done):

qx1J6UXl.jpg

6IHfolel.jpg

(Apologies for the pictures, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to take them with my limited resources!)

I played around with mixing around the different poses and weapons rather than build them to the instructions. Despite the models being designed to be made a certain way, I found it quite easy to swap around the different parts. This gives hope for future squads and conversions! Yay!

Next up is what I hope to be a Cannoness (and may be a bit of blasphemy for the parts used...)

c53tgHql.jpg

SLTR9TOm.jpgLlR2td5m.jpg

Some minor conversions to make her my own! I didn't want to alter such a fanastic model that much, so a simple gun and head swap, along with a power sword strapped to the hip and she was done! I'm still undecided on a name currently, along with any lore for this Crusade force, but that will come in due time.

Once I have them finished, I'll try and get some better photos. As always, C&C wlecome and thanks for looking!

@Lienna I believe colours for Sacred Rose are Black cloth on the outside and dark red on the inside. The Superior does have this, but you can't see the red due to the angle of the model. I am thinking of some freehand or transfers on the cloth though.

--------------------------------

Back with more models that I've had done for years!

Berserker Squad 1

AkZAdSel.jpg

wHvGrfml.jpg

IIGruxml.jpg

The warriors of the Red Hand will often partake in crude rituals before they go in to battle. An unholy mixture of blood and Daemonic essence is brewed by the Warbands Apostles, accompanied by chanting of forbidden words. This is then consumed by the chosen few amongst the Red Hand who have been deemed "blessed". The daemonic potion forces the Astartes in to a frenzy of heightened senses and brutaltiy, leading them to massacre all they find in their way on the battlefied.

--------------------------------

A squad of 8 Khorne Berserkers. When considering the fluff behind the Red Hand, I had always thought of them as a more Melee orientated force. Naturally, Khorne Berserkers would be included. But it didn't feel right just having them as normal Berserkers, Butcher's Nails and all. So I came up with my own background that has them as a zealous cult, that has these weird rituals and an almost tribal organisation.

I created the above models using a variety of parts from the (old) Chaos Marine and Berserker kits, and mixed in a few older armour makes here and there. I'm hoping the various uses of Reds will make them stand out on the tabletop as Khorne Berserkers.

C&C always welcome. Next update will hopefully finish off the Models I have completed so I can start showing off more of what I'm working on!

The strike cruiser shuddered under the latest bombardment from the planetary defence batteries. It had torn in to the system at speed, hoping to use the element of surprise to disable what defences could be mustered as swiftly as possible. With each new volley, the void shields shimmered and threatened to end the assault.

Zaluran Cranos pushed the thoughts of imminent destruction from his mind, and focused instead on the mantras of his craft. He felt the swirl of warp energies around him, and steadied himself against the whispered voices of the hell-born. The coming fight would need his powers.

Nearby in the hanger, servitors made the last preparations to the Thunderhawk gunships that would carry them to the nearest orbital station. Their rhythmical clanking was soon joined by a more insidious sound.

Fifteen warriors stood in a circle nearby, clad in the dark armour of the Black Legion. Each one had adorned his battleplate with crude drawings of a red hand print, and was chanting in a low, forbidden tongue. Zaluran took a moment to reflect on how the repetitive clanging of the work being done to their transports almost lined up with the unholy hymn being sang.

Distracted and watching from the gantry above, the sorcerer saw another warrior emerge from the shadows nearby, his armour more ornate than his brethren. In his right hand he held aloft a large bronze goblet. Zaluran focused on the artefact for a second, and instantly saw the daemonic energies contained within. One by one, the newcomer handed the goblet to his kin, and they each took a single sip of the liquid.

As the last of the fluid was drunk, the chanting ceased. As one, the Chaos Marines turned and headed to the front ramp of the transports nearby. Zaluran took a moment to reach out to one of the warrior’s minds briefly. It was unguarded, and reeked of rage, bloodlust and the cursed liquid that was recently consumed.

Zaluran did not trust any of them, and cursed silently at their tribal ways. But his master had said they were needed, and he had sworn he would guide them to their fate.

Greetings! Another update for my Black Legion Crusade (I will get to the other armies eventually, honest!)

The Red Hand is a very assault elemented Warband, so naturally, Chaos Bikers had to be included! No fluff is written up about this squad yet, but they will be the "Hunters" for the warband. Naturally, they have the icongraphy of the Red Hand, which in games will represent the Mark of Khorne.

uMCWAELl.jpg

7NFLh5Bm.jpgiFGxEDdm.jpg

Lots of mixing of bits to really get across the feel that these guys will scavenge and use whatever wargear they can find. Several Raptor parts were used to give them a more sleaker look. The backs of the bikes are covered in packs and all sorts of spare parts, to make them more unique and show that these guys will frequently go off hunting for days or weeks. The thought is that they'll be used as scouts or to find and capture slaves for the warband to use. I'll try get some more detailed snaps at some point!

I also managed to get me second squad of Cultists done! It's another 20 man squad, but I haven't taken any pictures yet. That just leaves a Rhino to finish off and then my initial 50 PL Crusade force is complete! Here's the Rhino (WIP):

tSMec2bl.jpg

I'll talk about it more when I've finally finished it.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!

Greetings!

This might be a rather lengthy update, as lots to show off! So apologies if it drags on!

Cultist Squad 2

ccFZIcWl.jpg

The 241st Ardenian Light Infantry were in the process of quelling a rebellion when the Great Rift tore the Imperium in two. In the final moments of victory, the skies tore asunder and a Daemonic incursion engulfed the planet. Swarms of flies engulfed the world, and the Guard had no other option but to retreat to the bastion city.

Thousands of Civilian survivors were trapped alongside them, as the tides of Daemons hurled themselves at the walls. The defences held though, but all was not well. With limited supplies and confusion running freely through the city, it was not long before disease found its roots amongst the humans. The defences held for months, but slowly the population dwindled as more and more fell to the disease.

Fearing the worst, the 241st took to wearing rebreathers. There were rumours that the dead did not remain that way for long, and talks of cannibalism soon reached the Guard. With hope dwindling, the leader of the remaining Guardsmen ordered anyone showing signs of sickness to be executed and the bodies burned. It was in this final act that the 241st were lost to the powers of Chaos, their reasoning gone and perceptions deceived. Even those that were not ill were killed, as the corrupted soldiers proclaimed that anyone outside of their own regiment had fallen to the disease and would need dealing with swiftly.

------------------------------

Chaos Rhino

Vw6b7Ghl.jpgmnbVD3xl.jpg

I’ve never been a fan of “just stick spikes on it” for Chaos vehicles, but for years had no idea how to represent a Chaos vehicle without resorting to what was available on the sprues. After stalking this forum, I stumbled upon a thread by Subtle Discord, and saw his amazing Chaos tanks. I knew this was the look I wanted, and decided to give it a go myself! (I eventually would like to pick up some of the kits now on offer, but my hobby finances are limited at the moment.)

Some plasticard, lots of measuring and green stuff to fill the gaps led to the above result. It was my first time in using plasticard, so it’s a bit rough, but I’m pleased with the results. I still think it’s missing something with the paintwork, but for now, its tabletop ready and good to go!

And with that, my Crusade force is done!

Army pic:

NpKx4g9l.jpg

I still have a lot of Chaos models still do to, and some that are actually complete. The plan is to add them to the Crusade force as it progresses, and develop the story of why these 3 different warbands have come together and what their goals are. Below you can see the 3 different factions that have aligned under one banner:

The Red Hand

Dr8Ofnfl.jpg

Sorcerer Zaluran & Chaos Marine bodyguard

pLuJ9xFl.jpg

241st Ardenian Light Infantry

6nAGnE8l.jpg

So what’s next? Well, I have my Sisters to work on. I have to finish off the first squad and my Cannoness. There’s a whole bunch of Chaos Daemons I have that I could potentially make a Crusade force with. And then there’s a squad of Word Bearers I made for fun:

48eIaELl.jpg

n7XhEYAm.jpgUMqXEQEm.jpgQZsgkdam.jpg

Very close to being done. A few touch-ups and the banner to do, then bases, and they should be good to go.

That’s all for now. C&C welcome, and thanks for looking!

A small update as there's not been much hobby time lately.

First up some Chaos Raptors:

6xIf0j8l.jpg

I made these quite a while ago out of spare parts. They mostly use parts of the Chaos Raptor kit alongside the wings from the Possessed kit to get the look. The Champion has the old style of Raptor jump pack. I'm thinking of painting them up as Word Bearers, as the Daemonic wings really fit with the whole "possession" thing.

I have noticed I've not given the squad any special weapons though. I may have to add a meltagun or two. However, I'm not sure which ones to rip the arms off of! Any thoughts or ideas will be most welcome.

Here's some more pics:

mq7Szial.jpgaquuAHVl.jpg

P5nbveMl.jpg

(Apologies for the state of my desk. Definitely due a dusting!)

----------------------------------

The second small update is work on my Cannoness for my Sisters force. Progress is slow as I didn't realise how detailed this model was, and want to take that little bit of extra time to make her stand out. Working on getting all the bases down for the different colours, then I'll start on the white armour.

j0UmXP2l.jpgSlV3fbEl.jpg

(Pictures could be better but these were taken on my lunch break with my phone!)

----------------------------------

Hoping to get a Crusade game sorted within the next 2 weeks to start off my Black Legion campaign! It will be against a Death Guard army that doesn't have any Death Guard Marines somehow. Will write up a story/report when we get around to it.

That's all for now. Thanks for looking!

A quick update about what I'll be working on for the next week and a half.

I have my first Crusade game lined up for Friday the 30th. It'll be the first time I've played a full game of 40k in a few years, and I'm looking forward to it! This means, however, we'll need some scenary for the battlefield. And thus we get to my pile of shame (although it is assembled!)

aRCdXgUm.jpgcc30OOOm.jpgKYaO5xvm.jpg031cu0bm.jpgxG4x66qm.jpgOFYp1HQm.jpgOyarlWfm.jpgXhv9xttm.jpgWJsesYrm.jpg

I've had these for years and years, and it's about time I actually get them painted to an acceptable standard! One of the craters is done, and the others should be easy enough to do, but the buildings are going to take some work (I still want to base one of them and add a few bits to another). I've always had a hatred for painting scenary for some reason, but with a game looming next week, it's time I just got on with it!

It's going to be a long week.

Thanks for looking and C&C welcome.

Small update with a few pictures!

Day 2 of Scenary painting (slowly losing my mind)

I've made some decent progress! The craters are all done and took no time at all. I now question why I've had them for so long and didn't actually paint them. The wonders of a large brush and drybrushing never cease to amaze!

RUeTYEIl.jpg

The Mechanicus building is ready for battle (but not finished). It will do for now. There's a lot of smaller details that I want to go back and do, but that will take some time and I need this all ready in just over a week!

kyZWjr8l.jpgJgfgkSZl.jpg

The red isn't as bright as it appears in the photos

And work continues on the nightmare of a building that I refer to as "The Tall One". I can't remember what all the different names actually are. This one is taking a little longer as I'm not cheating and using drybrushing/contrast, but picking out all the details in gold. I'm throwing a bit of silver in as well, and will be finishing it by showering it in Nuln Oil. I'm hoping it'll give it a nice "battle ready" look, and then I can go back and pick out details at a later date.

FsSXcOUl.jpgAOyQzvCl.jpg

Why oh why did I assemble all the panels BEFORE painting?!

Hopefully I'll get the gold done tonight so I can start washing it to death to leave over night to dry. I do have 2 other buildings, but they still need fully assembling/basing. I'm waiting on an order of rubble and black spray paint to finally get them done, but it appears to be delayed, so I may not have them ready for next week! Oh how the Gods of Chaos like to test me.

That's all for now. C&C welcome, and thanks for checking out my decent in to madness.

Good day to you!

I return with my first game of 9th Edition. My Black Legion Warband faced off against an insidious Daemon Prince of Nurgle and his collection of Daemon Engines. It was a fierce battle, but alas, my first game was a loss.

After seeing the list I’d be facing, I knew I’d struggle to secure victory. A Daemon Prince, a few squads of Poxwalkers and the rest of the list filled out with all sorts of Daemon Engines. I’d have wanted some more anti-tank units and weapons in my list, but oh well! We set up the table, rolled up the Crusade Mission (Supply Cache) and then set up our armies.

xz89MJIl.jpg

The Battlefield in all it's glory!

r3f2Nuql.jpg

The forces of Nurgle ready for battle.

6UdBucCl.jpg

My force looks tiny in comparison!

It was decided that my Warband were seeking to gain some much needed supplies, trying to tear it from the Daemon Prince’s grasp before continuing their Crusade. Eligos the Blooded led a small assault force of The Red Hand, supported by the 241st Ardenial Light Infantry. Sorcerer Zakariel would also be on the field, surrounded by his bodyguard, Squad Nemeduk.

The Red Hand charged for the midfield objective, eager to claim it early and tear apart the Daemon Engines charging towards it. Alas, they were too slow, and soon the Bloat Drones had them tied up in a vicious melee. Elements of the 241st Ardenial Light Infantry held the line, but were swiftly cut down.

ixiSRFtl.jpg

On the right of the field, Colonel Von Haken, leader of the traitorous guardsmen, secured some munitions in the nearby forests. Holding the line, the Guardsmen unleashed volleys of fire at the approaching Daemon Prince and his pet Chaos Spawn.

On the left flank, Sorcerer Zakariel led his squad of Chaos Marines in to the ruins of the settlement the supplies were found in. Weaving the ways of the warp to bolster the warriors around him, shot after shot was unleashed in to the advancing Poxwalkers, cutting them all down. A final charge in to the survivors helped secure the objective, and the Chaos Marines bunkered down in the ruins as the Nurgle forces advanced.

ga6G1hrl.jpg

The tide was soon turned as the Daemon Prince began cutting down the renegade cultists in the woods. The Red Hand, tearing down 2 of the blight-drones, soon fell in waves as a mighty Defiler crashed in to the fray. Not stopping its rampage, it marched forward and tore apart the Rhino that had been used to deliver the warriors in to battle.

QmL6W6Xl.jpg

With the bulk of the Warband decimated, Zakariel called for a retreat. With the objectives ripped from their grasp, the coming weeks would prove difficult to recover from.

--------------------------------------

I haven’t played a game of 40k for quite some time, with my last being the beginning of 8th Edition. We spent all afternoon on our first 9th Edition game, getting used to the rules and having a fun time. There were some moments that I may have had a chance, but I’d never played against Death Guard before, so was wary of what the units could do. In hindsight, I should have been a lot more aggressive with my Berserkers and Exalted Champion, and played the objectives more.

The Crusade system is great though, and really helps theme an army. I decided that my Chaos Space Marine squad were the ones to be Marked for Greatness, and they levelled up! I rolled up “Battle-tested” for their Battle Honour, which will come in handy next time for securing Objectives. My Sorcerer did wonders as well with his Psychic Powers.

As they were the element that did the best in my army, I’ve decided the balance of power has tipped more in favour with the Sorcerer. For this reason, I’ve used some Requisitions to bolster my Crusade forces, and added a couple of new 5-man Squads of Chaos Marines that he has enlisted to the Warband.

XLMBsSnl.jpgyukUE9Cl.jpg

These are WIP at the moment. I’ve had the models for a while, and just need to finish them off.

I also have some spare points and Requisitions to spend, but not sure what to add to the Crusade yet. Any thoughts or ideas much welcome!

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading!

Greetings all!

Life has been busy despite a second lockdown, so there's not been much progress in regards to models. I've managed to get something done though, and it's about time I provided an update to what I'm working on.

----------------------------------

After the recent failure against the Death Guard, Zakariel's influence over the Warband grew. Soon enough, more Chaos Space Marines of the Black Legion joined the cause, following the Sorcerer and swearing to aid him. Where these Marines came from, none can say. What has become apparent is that Zakariel may have more influence outside of the Warband than first thought.

Chaos Space Marine Squad Halphas

ZHGlzrLl.jpg

Chaos Space Marine Squad Naberus

Stn1Ukfl.jpg

Two small squads of Chaos Marines, each with a Missile Launcher. Lots of kit-bashing and smaller conversions. much like the last set of Marines I've already shown. I like to mix all different types of armour together, to represent the variances you'd find in the veterans of the long war. I imagine it's a hodge-podge of whatever can be scavenged, and the original armour the traitors took with them whenever they joined the Black Legion.

I added a few small freehand details to a few of them as well, for practice and because I apparently like causing myself all sorts of frustration when painting!

4WIzRmOl.jpg

I have got more Chaos to add to my Black Legion, but I am currently waiting to play more games. The Crusade system is really a great way to slowly build up a force and really think about the background of the army. I am tempted to go back and add some battle damage to the Squads that have already made it through the first game.

----------------------------------

As for other projects, I have nearly finished my first Sisters squad! Pics of them soon. However, I may put the army on hold for now. I currently don't own the Sisters of Battle Codex, and given that it's a new edition, I feel buying the current version would be a waste of time if a new one is released within the next 6 months or so.

That means another project needs to be started! I have the first model for a potential new force, and a test mini undercoated for it. Just waiting on a paint delivery!

MJEZBNAm.jpg

Hopefully, I'll be able to reveal what the plans for my next Crusade force are soon.

As always, thanks for looking and C&C always welcome!

Greetings!

Time for an update on what I’ve been working on. First things first, a completed squad of Battle Sisters!

rbHNRJGl.jpg7SeyhZ4l.jpgci56ifLl.jpgQUZEIysl.jpg

This squad took me a while due to procrastination and not having all the paints available right away. Lockdown has meant delayed deliveries it seems! I followed an awesome YouTube tutorial for the most part (which you can find here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_yLPCZK53E&t=1239s). I’m not 100% happy with the faces and will come back to them at some point. In the future I’ll leave the heads off before painting to make it easier.

I still have the cherub that comes with the squad to finish, but that will be done in time. I still have my Canoness to finish off, but I’m putting my Sisters on hold for now (until the next Codex comes out!)

This leads me to my new project: Primaris Space Marines!

I’ve been a fan of the Black Templars for a while, and always thought about starting an army. The only drawback was that I already collect Black Legion, and painting more black power armour is something I wanted to avoid. So I decided to do some research and see if there were any similar Chapters, and I found these guys:

https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Subjugators

Something about the bright green colour scheme and the “extreme methods” background just clicked. They also tie in nicely with my Black Legion army in that they are one of the Astartes Praeses, guarding the Eye of Terror. Reading on, it seems their 3rd Company was all but wiped out in the 13th Black Crusade. Combine that with Primaris, it seemed I had the background for my next Crusade! But how to paint them? Here’s my first test mini:

uTvyXGjl.jpg

I think it turned out quite well! The green was an absolute delight to paint, and didn’t require much work. I wonder what it would look like on a Primaris?

cqMTcLvl.jpg

Even better! So now it seems I’m going to collect a small Crusade of Subjugators Space Marines. They will be based on Primaris reinforcements to bolster the 3rd Company after its losses. The current theme is that the rest of the Chapter don’t yet trust the Primaris, and so have asked them to prove themselves by tracking down a few Chaos Warbands that slipped through the net when the galaxy was torn in two (these being my Black Legion and my cousin’s Death Guard).

Here’s a couple of more WIP Primaris:

mwcAqiEl.jpg

I am wondering how to make them more unique though, and maybe build on the Subjugators background a little more. Open to any ideas of how to further customize/paint my Primaris going forward!

Good start. I always found adding the squad and chapter marks to the shoulders and knees is a relatively small step with a large bang for its buck. The tactical arrow is pretty straightforward and their sharing the fist chapter badge you can for sure find decals or a simple painting guide. You can always practice on your first born.

For your headcannon maybe add some bits and bobs in honor of the original third? Maybe black purity seals? I’ve never seen that. Some kind of knee badge? I don’t know.
