Canticle of hate + swift hunters

Recommended Posts

I’m a huge proponent of using any extra movement possible for our army to stay in melee. While trying to build new lists Post FAQ I came across something interesting. Canticle of hate still gives us 6” pile in and consolidate. Swift hunters also gives plus 1” to pile in and consolidate. So if you don’t base the enemy model that’s 14” of movement a turn with careful positioning. Stipulation for charge etc is move closer to enemy model and be within 1/2” for engagement range. Could be great for getting full 6man thunderwolf squad into combat or using a large mob of boys or Necron warriors to skate across the board out side of the movement and charge phases. Hopefully that made sense.

Really? I’m not particularly great at statistics. I was betting on t1 charges if opponent went first. *Modest rolls*. 10”m 3Adv charge 6”+2 = 21” if I’m planning conservatively. Then only one model need to make it worst case scenario. Follow up pile of 7” then after fighting consolidate 7” more

So... the new bike chaplain/ wolf priest seems to be a good companion to thunderwolf cavalry, hmmm :)?

Heck yeah. Give him Adamantine Mantle to make him super survivable too

I was thinking the same Ranulf. except I’m bringIng mine as a biker slaplain. Master of sanctity- Canticle and Mantra. Imperium sword trait and benediction relic. Perhaps buff him with a Phobos Libby and MOH. So he can reroll charges, 8 attacks @ S9 -2 4dmg Edited by TheUnlikelyGamer84

Primaris bike chap is confirmed 115 and master of sanctity is +25 pts. By multiple YouTube codex reviews. Currently the biker chap has the wolf priest keywords.

Yes but thats a Chaplain with a keyword, Im talking about the Wolf Priest that will be in our supplement. Wolfpriest will have things the Chaplain doesnt have like Healing Balms (which will be super on a Primaris biker as a self buff alone)

So when our Codex Supplement drops we may well pay more for him, or not. Upgrade for Chapter Command may cost more as its 25 for Chaplain and 15 for Apothecary. We also dont know the exact rules and benefits yet for upgraded Wolf Priest

The rumor is our WP lost healing balms

Ulrik had none on his errata sheet

It is very unlikely we will gain access to the Apothecary since the new codex specifically says Wolves cannot take them (along with Tacticals, Devastators, Vanguard, Sternguard etc).

Our only hope is that Wolf Priests get these abilities restored in the supplement. It would be seriously sucky if we were the only Chapter to have no healing capability.

what makes me think Wolf Priests are not losing Healing Balms is apothecaries were one of a handful of units we didnt get access to

For Ulrik I think it was just a case of homogenising Chaplains/Priests for this brief window. Also a chance Healing Balms or Wolf Priest abilities may be getting buffed or changing

My one concern is that Blood Angel Sanguinary Priests (who are apothecaries with a few extra buffs) did retain their dual roles in the BA Index. Would it have been hard to bolt healing balms onto Wolf Priests? Hopefully I am wrong but we shall see.

Healing balms may become stratagem (like bringing back models that were removed for apothecaries). Otherwise our wolf priests should be more expensive than chaplains and pay for the rule.

I would have no problem with Wolf Priests being more expensive than Chaplains. They were in 8th edition and it seems the fairest solution.

the current Apothecary abilities and strats like healing and ressurection don't work on cavalry. I hope they fix this when the give them to Wolf Priests

This is actually something that gives me hope we will get it back in the Supplement since Cavalry aren't in the SM Codex so it would need different wording in ours rather than a copy-n-paste of an ability.

Excuse me while I go back the clutching at straws. :teehee:

But yet Apothecaries can restore an Invader ATV back to life on full wounds
