Yeah worked out nicly, keeping those additional colours, make up for not painting shoulderpad rims in codex colours rather just old metal.... but gives them some cohesion...  Anyway its been too long.  Couple of additions, some new veterans, and my head Chaplain. next is nice display bases for these and the corsairs so they can sit and get dusty on a shelf :-)  First couple veteran bodyguards for the characters....   and heres my head Chaplain Antibon, Guard of the Crossroads and Keeper of the Keys. Skull from the GW skulls pack... just took bit of finessing to get it to just about line up with butchered SM torso.. then Greenstuff the gaps...  Loving Antibon; really nice and creepy. 'Yoink' Yeah they fitted with no really effort... took the vents of side of the backpack... and filed the shoulder holes on wings with GS, to approximate the vents I removed... easy peasy... good luck...  ok well...  Well we just here for a little aside from the mortifactors... gonna make myself a little Inq28 warband next... and when over Christmas period tried my hand at a bit of sculpting of an eldar Harlequin that's joined the group for whatever his reasons are... thought though that eldar should be much lankier than some of the models, unnaturally so... can see hes taller than the primaris marine hes standing beside even without the base...so yeah...  what did I learn... Sculpting is hard ;-) and again I don't have patience to let parts cure properly before smashing them with my next cack handed go... it is what it is and overall with paint it looks pretty good... Well yeah, Mortifactors always described as bone and black armour, but always saw them painted a flat bone shade... tried to make it look like armour is real bone texture... dunno if managed that or they just look caked in mud and grime... but whatever ;-) Â They now officially finished, display base done, (though might source a plastic lid? will be a right pain to dust as is). Â First of 3 i Promised for the 12 months of hobby thread... got another modelled but not painted and the third is but a twinkle in my eye... Â This one started life as some sort of metal medieval ogre from God knows where... Â Turned him into a proto grey knight or something? Who even knows anymore...paint wise wanted in more grey than silver, but there is a shine to it... Using some coloured washes to colourise the shadows rather than using the same old nuln oil or similar.. Â Let me know what you think... Cheers Fellas...:-)  OK, well onto the next thing...something bigger...  Bought one of these bad boys off ebay, but couldn't leave it as is ;-) so got to chopping.   Cant think why, but had been reading up on the poor Celestial Lions, and decided I would convert and paint it up as one of them. Beyond Lions what's known, well saw the name of the packleader/chaptermaster after Armageddon was called Ekene, search for that and its an Africa/Nigerian originating name, makes sense that's where Lions come from ;-) So just to add bit more flavour, my guy (no name yet) has some tribal type warpaint on his face (and helmet!, options!, pro tip - Mash'ems heads fit perfectly ;-)),   I also "sculpted" some traditional African patterns onto the converted power claw. (that's why I like these tribalistic chapters, can make it lore friendly that the sculpting done by tribespeople on homeworld and that's why so basic ;-) ).   and painted some african symbols onto his jousting sheild, alongside his rank symbol on his shoulder of the one arm done so far ;-)   My guys got cloak, the one from the Lore given to Ekene by Grimaldus on Armageddon, painted in hi sword Brethren colours.   and working on a spear/glaive option instead of the bolt pistol...     hopefully finish it this month for the 12 month challange, but ordered some pressed brass lions that coming from foreign climes, so see when they arrive :-S let me know what you think so far.... Â Been buying a few minis from other companies, and off of Etsy/Ebay etc... all stuff I could do myself with a 3d printer for most part when I eventually decide the costs and faff is worth it :-). Most of them fantasy based so not really for here (check my insta in my sig to see how they progress if interested). Â for now I treat myself to some super nice ArtelW Models. Seen then a few times and ended up buying 3 for my first go. All super nice sculpts, really clean, and loads of spare bits for the bits box with some of the models as well :-), and I will be back for more soon. Â So first we have the "Flaming Drake Prime"... Looking at the designe, its obviously Feugan. just compare with this artwork... Â Â and most recently we have "Bubalus" from the man hunters, a homage to the Old Spyrers Orus model. Again playing around with quite severe OSL on this guy, light from below by the fiery forges of the Hive. Â Â Let me know what you think...
