White Dwarf/Other tabletop magazines in Japanese

Hi folks,

my Japanese has been lacking recently due to a lack of language exposure and I wanted to do something about it. Since 40k and tabletop games in general are among my favourite hobbies, I felt that this could be a way to get more reading practice in.

To this end, I wanted to inquire with you BnC folks currently in Japan: does WD have a Japanese version (from the GW website it didn't seem to be that way) and if not, are there tabletop-related magazines that also cover all things Warhammer and that you can recommend?

And if not magazines, are there websites that produce Warhammer content in Japanese on a regular basis? Message boards etc are also an option.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance :)

Yes, WD is for sale in both English and Japanese here in Japan. :tu:

They also have the introduction magazines (I forget the names, one for AoS and one for 40k. Mag + 1 mini) in Japanese.

There are hobby mags that feature, as well as the wealth of other hobby stuff over here, Warhammer. I can’t remember their names but will have a look when I’m next at Yodobashi Camera (which is...often :D).

Not sure of any forums, sorry!

If there’s anything else I can help with, just let me know.

^Yes they do!

Back in 2018 I was stationed in Japan for a while, mainly in Tokyo City. Visited one of those ‘Yellow Submarine’ stores where I purchased the introductory wh40k book in Japanese text (including single primaris marine).

They had both Japan versions and English versions. I still remember the store assistant as the experience was both funny and awkward, initially he refused to sell me the Japanese version, trying very earnestly to make me buy the English version instead as he said that would be better for me as I should be able to understand that one! When I explained (in Japanese) it’s alright I want the Japanese one for a ‘souvenir’, he bowed and said ‘Oh. Ok’. :happy.:

Some pages have a few English bits of writing too and the back cover shows they were printed in China, if that helps.

Thank you both for the great input! Much appreciated :)

Now I need to figure out how to aquire a Japanese WD here in Germany. Has anyone done this before or got it shipped to a different country? Or can the japanese WD be bought in a digital format, saving shipping costs and time?

I’m not aware that WD can be bought digitally in any language anymore. Print only, no?

A quick googling shows that Yodobashi.com does sell Japanese WD online:

https://www.yodobashi.com/?word=White+dwarf&cate=

Though whether they ship outside Japan I don’t have time to check (my son’s calling me :D).

Apparently they don't ship abroad. But I just wrote to GW's customer service to see what they can do.
