New unit looks like its made out of the reavers box. We might have a use for them after all!

Codex Supplement: Space Wolves includes the rules for a brand-new unit, the Hounds of Morkai, who are also getting a multipart plastic kit. This is a dedicated psyker-hunting pack equipped with runic totems to protect them from evil magicks before they close in and slay the witch.

just reivers, but damn that colour scheme on them is great. 'colour of a midwinter hurricane' i guess, as preciously described by the Index Astartes, i guess.

happy medium between 30k and 40k color.

I think its

base: the fang

wash: nuln

layer: the fang

Layer/edge: russ grey

edge (extremis): fenrisian grey

Nope, that's how I do my wolves and they are not as dark and more blueish.

Funnily, the reivers on the combat patrol box are in the normal scheme

I think it's probably something like a stegadon scale green basecoat.

ya that looks closer.

almost looks like stegadon is the fang with a coelia green shade

Stegadon is a bit darker, but yeah, it has a bit of a green hue. I think the pain scheme they have is stegadon scale green, with a russ grey or some other blue highlight.

I can try it out really quick, I'm painting something with that color anyways. Will try a highlight with russ grey when the stegadon dries.

Let's speculate about the rules

I think standard Reiver rules + either a deny the witch or a 5+++ vs. psychic

My guess is the 5+++ v psychic or plus 2 to cast if within 12 or 18 inches

Cant see them making the tabletop outside of the pretzliest of beer and pretzel games

I think the paint is Space Wolf Contrast maybe

Trying it out, it looks close, but I think it might be incubi darkness.

Looking at their colors on their website, they have one 'Cerulean' that is incubi darkness -> shade nuln oil -> highlight thunderhawk blue -> highlight fenrisian grey, which I think is it.

Super sloppy test using stegadon, thunderhawk blue and russ grey

Wasn't certain at first, but I do think they used incubi, which has a greener hue to it.

The fangs sort of make me furious.

Its half a box of Reivers (a super iffy unit) with that really pathetic upgrade sprue they stuck us with glued on as if it was something to be proud of. And I deeply suspect they will charge us for them as if they were the 10 man box.

Getting literally nothing but the supplement would have been better than this, since at least that way they wouldnt be broadcasting that they plan to keep pushing that really shoddy sprue on us. I didnt think we could expect anything as nice as the IF or RG custom sprues but this is insane.

Will get the dice though, they are depressingly enough the highlight.

At the very least the BAngels might get better treatment, Mephiston got his own release just in time so they cant act as if he is new twice like this stunt they are pulling with Ragnar. I usually hate to be this negative, but just wow.

Doubt it would cost the same, the upgrade sprue is like $15 and the reivers would be $30. I would expect it to be ~$35 USD.

To add further, the (overcosted) upgrade sprue is $14 and a box of 10 reivers is $60, so two upgrades and a box would be $88. They won't make this kit cost more than the sum of its constituent parts, so definitely won't see it at $45. My guess is they will discount the upgrade sprue somewhat and make it somewhere around $35 - $40 USD for the kit.

Either way, the new Combat patrol box would also come with the kit at a nice discount.

I think my anger is more rooted in their flaunting that horrific excuse for a Primaris upgrade sprue and shoving the worst Primaris units down our throats.

Combined with passing Ragnar off as new...

Idk, I wasnt expecting much but this somehow feels like they went out of their way to insult us.

I'm used to it, DA are my main. How do you think not getting a Christmas box last year and having a reprint of Dark Vengeance felt :biggrin.:

This is about what I expected for SW, to get a unique reiver unit like we saw in earlier lore.

I suspect they’ve been in a warehouse for a while considering BA and DA got flavored intercessor kits around their 8th codexes.

I’m just happy they confirmed we get a psychic discipline again.

This is my guess as to what it is as well, mostly equivalent to that. I doubt they will do the same with BA/Death Company, but they could I guess. Just figure most people would do assault intercessor loadout for that.

Bright side for you then, they cant try to release Lazarus on his own twice!

Jokes aside, I do expect both of them to get at least a bit kinder of a treatment. That might just be blind optimism though.

I would think that's possible. SW got a large release in 7E, so I would think they would circle around to BA or DA before coming back to SW. Most of the SW characters are new and in plastic. Those two only have have one plastic character each, so really need updates for those.

Hmm... I wish there was a database for this stuff.

I dont think you are 100% right though, 7ed was the dreads, sky boats, the Iron Priest, Wulfen and three characters (Krom, Logan and Ulrik). Everything else is 5th. So not that new actually. Rune Priests are both 2nd ed funnily enough.

For BA, Chaplain, Tacticals, Sanguinary Priest, Unique Termies and three characters (Karlaen, Antor and Libi) are all 7th. Rest are 5th. Dante, Corbulo and Tycho are their oldies.

DA is almost all 6th. Azrael is actually a big exception (2nd ed) with Sammael and Ezekiel being second in being from 3rd.

You can confirm all of this on https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Portal:Miniatures

So... Wolves are actually not as new as you think compared to the other two...:teehee:

Some of that information isn't quite correct I think.

The Ravenwing bikers are only boxed from 6E, they're just an upgrade sprue from 2006 on the 2002 bike kit, so 4E I think.

The DA company veterans I think are from the same time, but I don't have one to check the date stamp on the sprue.
