Grey Knights take it once more at recent tourney!

Army list winners: https://spikeybits.com/2020/10/top-3-40k-army-lists-fall-brawl-tournament.html

All GK infantry, over 75 models, including a Brotherhood Champion, 10 Interceptors, 15 Purgation, 20 Strikes....AND 30 Purifiers!

So cool to show GK army has potential for a variety of competitive builds now.

Even surpassing runners up:

- 3rd Place DA Deathwing Army (majority Terminator models)

- 2nd Place Necrons Army (the beastly Silent King included)

Again, so cool!

I'm loving this!

The Brotherhood champion is an interesting choice. With a relic even.

It's great to see the interceptors. And even the purgation squads. He is just making people roll a :cuss: ton of dice.

That is super interesting! Man, I'd love to hear him chat about why he took so many Purifiers. Looks like he's just trying to maximize the number of heavy weapons he's taking.

The purifiers can also get a 4++ increased to a 3++ with sanc for 1CP. That's something I guess.

Looking at the list, I'd bet money it is about the heavy weapon quantities they can take. The list looks like a heavy weapon spam list and purifier squads are basically purgation squads with a different smite and a toughness enhancing strat (so, basically, better purgation squads.)

I second this statement, he's basically getting double the purgation squads for the same slots. A very interesting list, the Champion is a slapper with that loadout, S5 attacks at -3 and flat 3 damage, that can get a +2 to wound and packing a great source of mortal wounds? Damn straight. He's really making use of all of the tides to great potential as well. Not my style of list at all, a little spammy for my taste, but its great to see something other than the Paladin bomb(s) come out on top, though a variety of Grey Knight lists have been doing well in tournaments lately.

yeah, Tide of Convergence is probably lynch pin? with so many heavy weapons on infantry. I like it though, nothing is really worth shooting at. As in its basically all the same.

Power armour spam too which is nice to see. Where's Skywrath when we need him.

Yeah, Convergence is for sure to main event, but with so many units the odds of getting 3-4 Smites off per turn as well as all your buffs, are pretty good, meaning Escalation can be handy too. Shadows can work great considering its all Infantry and can fairly easily get both bonuses from it early game.

As a Dark Angel player, Deathwing Terminators are insane with the inbuilt Transhuman, and with the Ancient providing a 5+ FNP, on top of having a 4+ invuln (+1 to saves), and 3W. You also have a 1CP strategem that gives them T5 for the turn, and a 2CP strategem that gives them Armoured Resilence, essentially. The way this is heading, the DA will be much stronger than the IH ever were in 8th. So hooray for quality control (or lack thereof).

As for the Grey Knights, I had actually a similar list to this, however I had 2 purgation squads, 2 interceptors squads, and one purifer/one paladin with terminators. Other than that, it gives me some ideas how to use purifiers - was there a video of this by any chance, as well as how he played them?

I like that analogy actually. Upvoted. However what stumps me is how he managed to get the Purifiers to do work with a D6 smite of 3", with no BC in that list. Was he spending CP points like crazy for Finest Hour, or something like that?

*powers down Nemesis Halberd*

Slaying the famed monster called end of turn exams. Hooray for Astrophysics major.

Next up, Tide of Convergence would definitely be the way to go, with the psilencer brigade list, I was in it pretty much the entire game. But this list reinforces the fact that quantity is the weapon we need to beat quality (marines). Which pretty much highlights my previous argument that psilencers are the way to go.

I'd say that the smite from the purifiers weren't the crux, and I doubt he would of used Tide of escalation much if at all. I'm assuming obviously with the amount of infantry heavy weapons he's spent points on, he'd want to be maximising them with Convergence.

And its no surprise the DA list made it top 3 with, with ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DW termies. That absolutely sickens me.

Of note here is also the small size of the tournament 3 games 13 players. However he is the only undefeated list at the tournament

This can definitely be a factor, as lack of diversity in a tournament can lead to certain lists being naturally predominant. That being said, it doesn't take away from his achievement, but I wonder how it would do in a major or GT setting with many factions, builds and top-tier lists present.

N.B. It's entirely possible he faced three hardcore meta lists and won, and looking at the #2 and #3 lists they were no pushovers either. I don't have the possibility of running his list, but if someone has a go, I'd be keen to hear how it played.

Same would love to try the list. He played the necron list that came 2nd!! Certainly not trying to detract from his achievement winning any tournament is no easy feat. Think purifiers were used as cheaper speed bumps 3+invul, 2+in combat! Put armoured resilience on and damn not bad for the points
