Our good friend Syama Pedersen shared a short teaser video over on his Patreon for his next Astartes-related project. Whilst I won't share the full contents of his post or the teaser video itself out of respect for him, I can provide a short summary.

Space Marines (Blood Angels, Revilers, Flesh Tearers and more!). Orks. Tyranids. Brutal violence. 

 

"A full update on the future of the Astartes Project will be coming soon," to quote.

They appear to be more proportionate and less “hulky”. The action was very fast and blurry, we’ll have to see it better.

Finally, 2020 has some good news!!

I honestly thought it would be years, if ever, before we saw anything new, and I was happy with that.

It might still be years but so happy he is still working on the project.

That's Angels Sanguine. not Blood Angels. It's hard to notice but the colour scheme is definitely the red/black vertical split. Plus Angels Sanguine were one of the Chapters at the end of Astartes Part 5.

As a marine/nid player, im most excited to see the tyranid stuff

That Marine in the Tyranids scene (can't identify the Chapter... orange armour) who held his Bolter from the top with his left hand to pump shots into the Gaunt (?) at the ground, so that he would mitigate the recoil that way... the maker of these Films is definitely too good to be true.

Every cent thrown at his Patreon is worth it!

The sounds of the orks clanging on marine armour was so realistic.

Orks being closer to humans will have more of an uncanny valley problem. Those nids looked so cool.

One of the coolest shots in the nid scene is the marine with no leg braced against ruble still shooting.

The attention to detail is just phenomenal, the way the heavy bolter actually counts down, and way the marine uses the shoulderpad to deflect the ork axe, the hand controling the recoil is actually holding a knife. Its too good, it all makes sense

Those orks look absolutely brutal.

Probably watched it twenty times now. The animation is what sells it. The entire series is a masterclass on conveying the sense of weight and power of a completely digital subject. Entire teams of animators have come short of creating that kind of kinetic intensity.

This really does set the standard for Space Marine animation, I really hope GW can see the talent and give this artist an official project in the way Richard Boylan did with Helsreach.

They have offered him a job/project and turned it down. He’s happy with his day job and doing this as a hobby

I mean at a bare minimum he pulls 120k+ from his patreon alone, GW likely doesn’t have that kind of cash to throw at stuff like animation that doesn’t have that much return on investment.

If I remember correctly, the offer he received was already substantially less than his industry wage - and said offer was also significantly less than the Patreon.
