Saga of the drop pod assault (saga has ended after 2 RTTs)

Yeah we love the battle reports. Especially the way you lay them out and your narrative. It really puts you on the table side watching.

I agree with you that DA are a bit on the heavy handed side. The free permanent transhuman is something I still can't believe got past play testers. But even with that and your opponents hot dice on those 4+ you still pulled out a victory.

I will say that I use Multi-melta LFs in drop pod and they are really there as my answer to vehicles. I've had troubles with elite squads due to stratagems and fickle dice rolls similar to ones I've seen you suffer in your games. So I feel your pain. I still find them worth it though.

Even if the LFs flop their dice I think the LF pod still has a psychological impact on the game.

My opponents tend to have compressed formations and not push out when they know I will drop a melta bomb with 12 shots anywhere on the board.

For me personally I think I need to get better at finding them optimal targets and knowing when to commit.

I may be gunshy and stay away from 4/4 defensive combos in the future lol

I also need to implement brother Jorin Helm-splitter's advice and use overwhelming firepower to draw out those defensive stratagems and then shift targets...my new list evolution added firepower with that goal in mind

Pre-game and deployment

Welp...this is the big time now folks. Semi finals match against a hardcore list and a top player in the community who just won another pod earlier in the week.

Take a long hard look at that harlie list. It is the #1 preferred flavor for them.

The fusion pistol drive by spam

I decide the skyweavers will be priority #1...they have mobility shooting AND melee

The transports are only mobility and shooting

If he stays in his transports he has no obsec and I can try to ride out fusion pistols

Harlies that exit transports are easy to kill

I must also kill his crazy troupe master (wounds on 2 and gets extra attacks equal to the turn number)

Chapter master gets Rites of War + Hunter + Pelt of Balewolf

Captain gets armor of russ

Chaplain gets wise orator

Champion gets Martial Exemplar

LF Pack leader gets morkai bolts

DP1

LF

Captain

Chaplain

Champion

DP2

GH

BC

I put both wulfen dreads in reserve

Terminators in reserve

I also outflank the eradicators

gallery_49686_16232_429644.jpg

I have to deploy SUPER conservative and defensive

Starweavers can move 22" and still fire fusions 6"

Skyweavers can move 22" and fire and charge

He also has 3 tricks to do MORE movement

Fire and fade can be used on a starweaver to move even CLOSER so the fusion pistols get to shoot

1 of his characters can exit a transport AFTER it advances and still charge

He has a stratagem for a FREE consolidate towards nearest transport and you can embark

Finally twilight pathways is a free move (similar to warp time everyone knows from chaos)

Basically he can get anywhere he wants and basically kill anything he wants when he wants

gallery_49686_16232_447190.jpg

He deploys super conservative b/c of my drop pod as well

BATREP

I win the roll and take turn 1

I advance my forward wolf and get a 6...he rockets across the line to score engage for me before his inevitable death

Everyone else stays hidden to wait for more reinforcements

I deploy scramblers in my DZ

I decide to drop the LF DP aggressively. I will shoot his skyweavers in the back ranks and charge his skyweavers in the front ranks

LFs kill 2/3 skyweavers with shooting

Other LFs with no range to his skyweaver puts 5/6 wounds on starweaver

*The harlies have a 6" aura that removes 6" from anyone shooting at units in the bubble. That means my multi-meltas had 18" range

Chaplain canticle of hate is auto chanted

Captain fails charge

LF make charge

Champion makes charge

I do a grand 0 damage in melee (makes all 4++ saves)

He kills my champion (fail 2 4++)

The only good news is I have scored full engage points and hopefully bottled him up

gallery_49686_16232_266143.jpg

His turn

He moves up conservatively and annihilates my DP force

His psyker kills my captain with smite and golden shards (basically another d3 mortal wound spell)

Fusion pistols kill the chaplain (failed all 4 4++)

He sends 1 lone starweaver to take the far left objective

Turn 2

I am in scramble mode and need to deny him as many points as possible

My army all moves forward

Razorback draws LOS to the lone starweaver on the left

Bladeguard and cyberwolf advance to get closer to objectives

Terminators drop in and deploy scramblers in his DZ while there is an opening

Eradicators arrive and kill the lone starweaver on the far left objective

I also put 2 wulfen dreads there to cover all possible exits and follow up with flamers/charges

He abandons the objective and disembarks far away to deny charges

Wulfen dreads and razorback kill off the harlies with shooting

My Chapter master on bike advances and then charges his far right star weaver hoping NOT to kill it...rites of war obsec will steal objective if it lives

He makes 1/3 saves

Rerolls his successful save and FAILS as he hoped...the harlies inside disembark and now he has more obsec on the objective than I do...my gamble has not paid off

Afterwards we both laugh because it is a rare example of wanting your dice to fail hard

He has never used a CP seeking failure until that roll

Instead of denying him the objective and only getting 5 primary he gets the full 15

gallery_49686_16232_533429.jpg

His turn

Wulfen dread uses armor of contempt and survives 2 units worth of haywires ending the round with 2/8 remaining

He zooms a starweaver near my eradicators and fusion pistols kill 2

He tries his best but shooting barely puts a dent on the chapter master in shooting

He then fails all charges into chapter master except his nearby harlies

The Bear takes 0 from charging harlies!!!

He flubs his attacks and kills a might 2 harlies in return...

He kills my bladeguard with his harlies (failed every single 4++)

He also advances a unit of harlies into my DZ and uses the charge/pile in/consolidate to steal the objective

I get 0 points for primary as a result

gallery_49686_16232_51036.jpg

Turn 3

I bring in the DP on the left flank to secure it

GHs deploy my 3rd and final scrambler

BCs fail a charge into the skyweavers

Eradicators kill the nearby star weaver

Wulfen roasts all harlies inside

The survivor Wulfen charges in and gets 3 exploding 6s to kill 3/3 skyweavers

Terminators multi charge and use savage strike to kill both starweaver and skyweaver

I then use the 6" consolidate strat to move closer to his objective

This helps me overcome the 3" movement debuff his death jester has placed on the unit

Chapter master falls back from combat and charges the dangerous troupe master that wounds on 2s

I roll 5 1's to wound and am killed in return in his combat

*this was the first combat...he then interrupted with skyweavers but failed to kill wulfen dread...it was a tense combat round

BCs exit the razorback and go to steal his objective from the 3 harlies remaining.

He uses a stratagem to consolidate and his harlies move into me instead

This denies me shock assault AND berserk charge

It also means he will strike first

They kill 1 BC but I wipe them and consolidate onto the objective

Razorback and judiciar kill off his harlies in my DZ

The good news is I drop his primary to 5 only this turn

gallery_49686_16232_50585.jpg

His turn

Fails both psyker attempts to kill dread but dies to shooting

Other Wulfen dread uses armor of contempt to survive with 4/8 wounds

He fusion pistols judiciar

Charges and consolidates around the razorback to flip my DZ objective again

He also pours more harlies into the BCs

I have completely lost my DZ objective

However he also abandons his DZ to stop my terminators from getting charge movement

gallery_49686_16232_357132.jpg

Turn 4

I move to deny him points on turn 5 basically...obsec troops advance to try and hop on closest objectives next turn

I try to shoot him off my home objective but eradicators fail miserably (hit dice were 1-2-2-4 and he made his 4++)

Wulfen gets 12 flamer hits on starweaver and drops it to 2/6 wounds but fails his 8 inch charge

gallery_49686_16232_74586.jpg

His turn

He accomplishes what he needs to earn his points and stop me from getting to him

Kills all my GH on left objective

Kills my wulfen dread

Kills my BCs

gallery_49686_16232_470641.jpg

Turn 5

We speed talk this round out and tally up the final score

I basically score engage

Final score and recap

gallery_49686_16232_46574.jpg

92-53

SW loss

To put it in perspective his prior match against one of the other top players in this community was 92-53 (Dark Angels list) so I don't feel bad

This type of harlie list is the #1 in the meta at the moment.

Mobility to get anywhere

Shooting and melee to kill anything when he gets there

The only thing the harlies hate is a Grey Knight list...basically hard counters them

Need to figure out how best to approach that problem and how my list can provide more solutions to the harlie problem

My goal is to finish this pod 3-1 now before I retire this list and work on the next evolution

Yeah harlequins are tough matchup for anyone, they're durable, fast, and hit hard with a high volume of attacks. In 8th I had some success with eliminators against them but I haven't played them in 9th. I wouldn't make to many changes to the build until you get a few games against them because army invulnerable saves can be swingy.

Pre-game & Deployment

Have 0 motivation for this game to be honest

I hate the outrider list and look forward to tossing it in the trash when this pod ends

Going into my first ever Necron game so I at least I get to learn a new opponent

I heard reanimation protocols had a mechanic change so time to see how it works

Silent king looks interesting as well

I will focus on wiping units instead of splitting fire

I will also try a defensive shooting style instead of kamikaze charge

Recitation of focus + keen senses + morkai bolts combo for the LF is gonna be my alpha strike

Ghost ark or Silent King make tempting targets if they are too far forward

Warlord-Rites of War + Bear + Pelt of Balewolf

Captain-Armor of Russ

Chaplain-Recitation of focus

Champion-Martial Exemplar

LFPL-Morkai Bolts

4 CP pre game spending

My secondary choices

Engage on all fronts

Deploy scramblers

Warrior pride

His choices

Raise the banners

Engage

Combat code (Necron specific where he gets 3 VP if his "nobles" (i.e., Silent King) kill a unit)

gallery_49686_16232_256932.jpg

This mission has a special rule that makes objectives stay under your control even if you leave them

I plan on 2 flanks to start the game and then combining forces and making it a dog pile fight to keep him from scoring

I have bike speed for 1 flank and DPs for the other

If I get 2nd turn I may need to use a bike to zoom over and flip an objective after I shoot him to death

Left side is eradicators + bladeguard

Wulfen dreads will go middle or left based on his moves...need LOS blocking cover for early game

I put smaller squads in the DP for flexibility

DP1

LF

Chaplain

DP2

BC

Captain

BATREP

He wins the roll and goes 1st

He gets a pre game 6" move and is already taking up a bunch of the map with his warrior blobs

gallery_49686_16232_79244.jpg

Turn 1

His turn

He moves forward and raises banners

He is on all midfield objectives

gallery_49686_16232_266573.jpg

My turn

I move after objectives and drop both pods so he can't zone me out with all his infantry

His ghost ark is in range so the LFs pop it and it explodes

I have advanced a wolf onto the objective with 10 warrios and can flip it if I kill enough of his warriors.

After seeing all my small arms do nothing he keeps the objective

On the left flank my Eradicators wipe out his swarm on the left objective and the wolf I had advanced there is able to flip it

DP BCs make an unexpected 9" charge and have savage fury...17 wounds ya!!!

After saves and reanimation I kill 2 models total...

gallery_49686_16232_369084.jpg

Turn 2

He wants to kill eradicators and BCs so he can fire at chapter master with Silent King

I use gravis armor strat and save all 7 gauss wounds from his warriors

Triarchs kill 3 LFs

Gauss reapers kill remaining LFs

Silent king deletes my eradicators easily

He kills BCs with wraiths in melee

I HI my chapter master into necrons warriors but only 1 perma dies

gallery_49686_16232_344787.jpg

My turn

I am learning I need buckets of dice to drop these necrons...not a tool I really have in this list

I bring in my dakka terminators and delete the small necron warriors with BS2 rerolling...if you kill all the unit he doesn't get to do reanimation protocols.

Wulfen dread charges into the swarm but can't kill enough to wipe all the models (he fired his flamers into the small warriors to reduce their number)

Chapter master falls back from combat so I can fire into the warriors...with all my bolter fire in the area I don't think I kill a single necron

I mass charge into wraiths on the left side

Wulfen

Champion

Captain

Bladeguard

Wulfen dread kills wraiths easy with his swings so everyone else bases the warriors behind them...I guess I should have sent some into the warriors but I am playing OVERKILL IS GOOD KILL right now

Outriders and GH make their charge into the warriors in the middle

I lose 1 outrider to overwatch as well

I am hoping this flurry of chainswords starts to thin the squad

I do jack squat...he actually reanimates enough to push forward and get on an extra objective...DOH...sneaky move necrons

gallery_49686_16232_30181.jpg

Turn 3

He uses a relic to remove his warrios from combat and hop on the unoccupied objective nearby

He then fires and kills 1 BG with buckets of warrior shots

Wulfen dread fails 4++ and CP reroll to take massive 5 damage from menhir tower but saves all other damage

BG use transhuman and survive incoming fire as well

Silent king charges TH Captain

Everything nearby HI into him....he wants the D6 mortal wound explosion so he doesn't care

I only manage to drop the silent king to 10/16 and kill both menhirs

He kills captain and champion in return

His triarchs go after my terminators and charge

gallery_49686_16232_75814.jpg

My turn

BCs hop out of the razorback and charge the large warrior blob (after razorback goes first to stop OW)

Chapter master joins them and attacks first...he perma kills 2 or 3

BCs and savage strike are JUST enough to wipe the remaining warriors

BCs and razorback pile into the chronomancer

Outriders moved to his DZ and shot/charged into the swarm...they kill a single base. I hate this unit

gallery_49686_16232_270400.jpg

Turn 4

He mops up and obliterates basically everything I have left

gallery_49686_16232_208025.jpg

My turn I concede

Final score and recap

gallery_49686_16232_50590.jpg

37-88

SW massive loss

Another game where I couldn't score primary points.

This was like the cultist blob game I had where they go first and take over the map and I just couldn't cut through their numbers fast enough

His special rule was everything has obsec and people who already have obsec count as double obsec...so ya...his troop blobs had to be deleted basically and I couldn't do it

I need to make sure future lists have the tools to delete 1 big unit reliably

That Necron secondary objective combat codes is also insane. He was getting 6VP a turn with the number of shots the Silent King can spit out (every kill is 3VP)

If you don't remember the razorback doing anything in the report it is because he landed 0 wounds the entire game...not using those anymore because the lack of core or any tricks hurt. I like my BS2 rerolling combos. I don't trust my dice

I don't think there will be a game 4 report for the list

I am currently 0-2-1 (2 losses and a draw)

I should be at the bottom of the list and get a DRAW next round (odd number of players)

I am happy to retire this list and move on...I refer to it as an experiment to find out what in our new codex works and doesn't work.

And as Thomas Edison once said about his 1000s of light bulb failures...the failure of this list showed me multiple units that do NOT work and what NOT to do with them

Not a fan of razorbacks (have one in the parallel list with HBs and don't like it either)

Not a fan of foot characters dropping in pods...especially the captain for reroll 1s (in future lists I made him a biker who can just TURBOBOOST there if I need)

Not a fan of the discount chaplain...the master of sanctity extra litany is HUUUUGE flexibility

Not a fan of relying on lots of charges as Plan A...should be Plan B because the luck of the dice are too big a factor

Not a fan out outriders...I see how they work for Dark Angels and White Scars...they are crap for SWs

One more batrep remains for this drop pod experiment saga...it is the Judiciar variant list that I was running parallel to this.

It will be the match that determines if I finish 3-1 and get my best finish in these online pods.

I am currently a 2-2 type player trying to break out of the mediocrity. Now that I am mostly done with list experimenting and have a better feel of the "good" units I think I will be able to just practice with lists that work and improve my standing

Pre-game and Deployment

I ran into this type of AdMech list early in my online career and they kicked my ass up and down the map

Those serberys raiders in particular are nasty. If you haven't run across any in games count yourself lucky

They are ultra efficient for their points with a TON of mobility and wounds for the price you pay

They basically have enough movement to grab objectives and a special stratagem to move 12" if you charge them...so ya...you can't make that charge

They also get character sniping and can use a stratagem to cause mortals on 5+ or so

Basically they can pick off a key unit turn 1 if they want to

I made changes in my lists to deal with them...time to see if it was enough

Game plan!!!

Goal is to focus on scoring and sacrifice bodies to stop his scoring

If I ignore his tanks and focus on his actual scoring models I may be able to pull this off...there is enough LOS terrain I can maneuver around

He has more OBSEC troops (4 to my 3) but I have more OBSEC speed with my rites of war chapter master and can transform core units into OBSEC

His raiders are fast but they do NOT have OBSEC....that means I need to leave troops to guard my rear objectives or they can swoop in and steal them

The sooner I kill those raiders off the sooner I can focus on offensive scoring

If he gets turn 1 I imagine he pushes those raiders hard into my lines and zooms the flyers in

I hope to do a safe/conservative LF drop and kill both his flyers in retaliation

Ideally I can do this and not be shot by his long range guns (hoping I can hit him from behind my obscuring terrain)

If that goes well I can fire the eradicators at the serberys raiders and hopefully drop a unit

If I go first I need to keep my counter attack units back but still go for objectives...turn 3 will be a massive attack from reserve for me

Either way...after my 1st turn I need to be on at least 3 objectives and rely on OBSEC to hold on and score

I need to wipe out both raiders and his foot infantry if I am going to win

I have plenty of bolters coming out of reserve to line up shots and get the job done

If it plays out well I can blast him off his DZ objectives or at the very least run in and flip them with OBSEC

It will be totally worth it sacrifice a troop if I can deny him points

I make my WL traits and relic selections with the scoring game in mind

Pelt of Balewolf will make it impossible to mortal wound me (any 6's will become a 5 and fail...suck it raiders!)

Chapter Master on Bike-(Rites of War + Hunter) (Pelt of Balewolf)

Chaplain (Recitation of Focus + Canticle of Hate) (Wise Orator)

Company Champion (Martial Exemplar) (Armor of Russ)

LFPL-Morkai Bolts

5 CP

Reserve Wulfen Dread + 2xCyber wolves

1 CP

DP1

LFs

Captain

Chaplain

DP2

GH

Engage on all fronts

Raise banners

Bring it down

He chose

Engage

Banners

While we stand (3 tanks)

I deploy to lure him forward and protect my eradicators

He does a fairly standard Admech deploy with raiders on the line and vehicles out of LOS

gallery_49686_16232_29639.jpg

BATREP

He wins the roll to go first

Pre-game he moves raiders forward but not super aggressive like I expected

gallery_49686_16232_311977.jpg

His turn

He doesn't come in aggressive like I expected but I should be ok

He keeps his flyers near each other so my LF DP plan is intact...I ask him about placement and he is trying to zone out the LF Pod from the middle with his flyer

He does NOT send his raiders at me which surprises me...he hangs back and leaves me room to maneuver

2 mortal wound bombs on Wulfen dread

3 bolter wounds on BCs

gallery_49686_16232_457681.jpg

My turn

Before I move anything I tell my opponent my intent with LF pod. We confirm I have LOS and can shoot them even if I drop behind obscuring

Chapter Master toes in on objective out of charge range from his electropriests

With OBSEC I just hard countered his nearby raider unit and took the objective

I have to advance razorback to protect myself from his tanks shooting at me

I also drop GHs for additional LOS blocking to guarantee he can't kill my chapter master

Many units will die but I have secured this objective for now to prevent him scoring more

LF pod does the job and kills both flyers without needing cherub

They are also safe behind obscuring for now

Flyer explosions puts 2 MW on Wulfen (4/8 remain)

3 MW on BCs kills 2 BC (2 remain)

3 MW also kills 1 raider (6 remain)

5 eradicators manage 6 wounds on his left raiders but kill only 3 (used a CP to get wound roll but he got a 6+++ to counter it)

Happy I nailed his flyers and LFs are still in play

Not happy with eradicator damage but overall good turn 1

gallery_49686_16232_470871.jpg

Turn 2

He shifts vehicles left and kills off GH but not their DP

Transhuman on eradicators stops 3 wounds but 2/4 dead after tank #1 fires

5 wounds prevented from tank #2 but last 2 die...at least they soaked up a ton of fire

gallery_49686_16232_577364.jpg

My turn

LFs get keen senses and recitation of focus/morkai bolts super combo to kill raiders on right flank to secure my backfield (hit and wound on 2s rerolling 1s)

Terminators come in and get the canticle of hate boosted charge

They get in and tie up dunerider and cut off the shortest disembark for his electro priests...wanted to prevent an easy disembark and charge into my LFs that would activate his 3++

BCs and Champion disembark from razorback and kill nearby troops in melee then consolidate back behind wall and onto objective...this was more stressful than it needed to be

BCs needed savage strike and barely kill all 5...he uses a CP but fails the 5+ (if he succeeded I couldn't consolidate behind LOS)

Razorback falls back and gives character protection to the judiciar

I am hoping his raiders stay in combat with the DP b/c my BG moved up enough to HI if he does

I am concerned about my LEFT flank right now b/c his tanks can come in blasting

I may have to dump the last wulfen dread just to hold the objective

My chapter master turbo boosts the hell out of tank city and gives OBSEC to my terminators while staying safe behind cover

Chaplain and captain both move forward

Judiciar advances right to support LFs in case electro priests make a long charge at them

gallery_49686_16232_387285.jpg

gallery_49686_16232_183066.jpg

Turn 3

Left flank he pushes up tanks and unloads onto my forces

He falls out of combat with raiders and leaves my DP free

Ballistari kill 5/6 LFs

Razorback survives tank#1 with 3 wounds remaining

Tank#2 kills razorback and puts 1 wound on chaplain who is exposed after LF died

Tank#3 kills 2 BCs but chaplain tanks with 4++

Electro priests hop out to fight terminators

Electro priests charge terminators and kill 1 with mortal wounds on the charge

They go nuts and kill terminators with tons of MWs

*Error from me...didn't need to send terminators in early and put in a vulnerable position

He didn't have a "hold more" when I made the move...this might cost me game b/c I lost my tanky unit and he has super powered electro priests now

LF passes morale...this is HUUUGE because I still have the cherub...4 more melta shots on 2s are possible

BCs lose 1 to morale but have 1 last PL survivor

*Did NOT get a screen shot here...was kind of in shock at my terminator loss and had to re focus on the game

My turn

BC survivor plants a flag and my champion moves up to the wall and prepares for a looong charge into his ballistari to tie them up in melee (9 rerolling...got it with an 11)

I need them tied up because I am sending my chapter master on an aggressive move to attack his 5 man squad holding the rear objective...if those chicken walkers break free I am toast

I push my injured wulfen dread on the right flank forward to threaten the electro priests and discourage them from chasing my chapter master

I bring on my last wulfen dread to reinforce the left flank and charge into his raiders expecting him to use stratagem...he does and moves onto objective near BC but it costs him 3 CP

I was expecting this and have already moved my BG forward to cut off their escape and intercept the raiders if they stayed in the general vicinity.

He stayed in my threat range because he didn't want to leave a wide open path for my BG to kill his OBSEC infantry right behind him...he is aware of my OBSEC plan at this point and knows he has to keep them alive

I spend all my CP to super power last surviving LF and use the cherub as well

Captain runs back to give him rerolls

LF lands 1 hit for 2 damage in volley 1

LF lands 2 hits and rolls 2 2's for wound on volley 2...

I needed this to land and kill a tank...this might be a game changing failure...ouch

At least I make all charges besides the wulfen dread...was stressful with 0 CP but I am still in this

BG kill 4/6 raiders and consolidate around the BC to protect the obsec unit

Champion puts 4 wounds on the ballistari

Chapter master kills 5/5 skitari and flips the objective (MVP move here by the chapter master!!!)

gallery_49686_16232_397748.jpg

Turn 4

Tanks kill BG BC and LF

However...they fail to kill the judiciar (2/3 wound rolls failed) so I get hold more (another huuuuge game shift)

The wulfen dread is acting as a road block and made it so only 1 tank could draw LOS on the judiciar and wolf sitting on the objective

Electro priests kill the nearby wulfen dread and consolidate onto my rear objective but I have still have 2 OBSEC BCs so SAFE!!

His ballistari can't kill my champion...armor of russ and combat shield mean a 1+ save

His AP1 means I just need 2's to survive his shooting

He gets 1 shot through and drops me to 2/4 wounds

He can't touch me in melee b/c I am too good with the -1 to hit (he needs 5s and I get 1s to save again)

In return I chop 1 down and score 2 bring it down points

Most importantly I keep them locked up so my chapter master can make another turbo boost charge

gallery_49686_16232_324652.jpg

My turn

I score 15 primary points and go on the offensive to deny him points

He has driven his tanks right into the jaws of my trap...now I have a chance to kill one with the wulfen dread

I move up to auto charge the nearest tank and manage 11 flamer hits to kill his last raiders...this is huge because now he has lost his mobility for scoring

Wulfen dread then wrecks his tank for an 8 point swing (my bring it down and his while we stand)

He needed 1 armor save on a 6 to live but decided not worth a CP

Meanwhile the chapter master turbo boosts to the mid objective and wipes out the 5 man group there and steals the objective from the dunerider thanks to Obsec (rites of war baby!!!!)

That drops my opponent to 5 primary points only

**Was so excited after a good turn I got a late screen shot...he has already killed my wulfen with shooting at this point

Turn 5

Not much he can do to alter the score...my judiciar is safe b/c the wulfen dread is a road block to prevent tanks from getting LOS

My chapter master has OBSEC and nobody can shoot him to death

He kills the captain midfield so I can't long charge and kill a tank

He also kills the wulfen dread with shooting

gallery_49686_16232_91214.jpg

My turn

As 2nd player turn 5 there is nothing much to do

I send my chapter master after his ballistari to earn more bring it down points

I use savage strike to hit on 2 and wound on 2 but only kill 1 in melee and grab 2 more points

gallery_49686_16232_13632.jpg

Final and recap

gallery_49686_16232_91090.jpg

84-74

Space Wolf victory!!!!!

My first ever 3-1 pod/RTT

And I scored high enough to come in 3rd overall (another player passed me by 3 points...doh)

I am happy with my experience here. The experimenting is coming to an end and I see what units are working well

The LF drop pod of death is going to be in all my lists going forward

2s rerolling and morkai bolts for rerolling wounds of 1 is reliable killing power and scares opponents...don't discount that psychological impact and how it prevents them from making aggressive moves

Wulfen dreads once again saving my bacon...that kill of a tank and flame of raiders secured the game

Chapter master on bike with OBSEC and hunter is also amazing...unleashed him just in time to start erasing his scoring units and turn the tide of the game

On a personal level I got my first AdMech win and my planning proved effective. I know what tools I need to face them and how to approach the army now

This batrep closes the books on this saga.

The drop pod assault-Judiciar variant taught me many valuable lessons

I faced off space wolves...custodes...harlies...admech and came away with 3 wins

The list did well but I see room for improvement

I have new lists going into action soon...my new goal is to find a way to counter harlies

Going to enjoy this feeling of elation I have after that win

Until the next saga!!!
