Thundernators

How are people finding thunder hammer/SS terminators.

On paper IF thundernators seem just insane with an apothecary.

I think a unit of 10 is around 580 points, plus what 70 for master apothecary? But they will never die.

Take them with pedro, sit them on an objective and they will stay there all game.

Am i missing something or are they really this broken?

If they are just sitting on an objective unless your opponent is gonna feed you units then they won’t do much other than hold one objective.

Pedro and a unit of 10 hammernators does look like a potentially fun option. They'll be tough to remove and hit unreasonably hard. An Apothecary putting them back together would be pretty cool too. They aren't fast, which is a problem because they can only be in one place at a time.

Personally I think I've decided against these guys. Taking them makes you into sort of a gatekeeper army. You beat people who didn't bring the tools to deal with this unit, but lose to anyone who can. And these things can be dealt with. As tough as they are - and they're very tough - this is an extremely lethal edition. It's still just 30 T4 wounds that you can't use stuff like Transhuman Physiology on, and they have no guns at all.

Of course, you don't necessarily have to stop with just 10 of these guys. 20 of them and Pedro come to just over 1k, leaving you with plenty of points to get some troops and guns. This would be very silly, so I'm not sure I recommend it, but it would also be kind of cool.

I got an idea!

Pedro, master of sanctity, librarian, Chief apothecary and 5 company vets with chain swords and storm shields in a pod.

Drop in turn two with the terminators.

Use commanding oratory strat to pop canticles from the master of sanctity, cast veil of time on the terminator squad, charge in using fury of the first. So you’ll have a 7” re-rollable charge, fighting first. For extra sauce pop fury of the first.

Using the “triangle method” to get one model back within six of Pedro for that +1 attack on the squad for extra nastiness.

Talk about a hammer blow!

Unfortunately I think deep strike assaults are kind of dead as a strategy. It's just way too easy to screen against. Too often, your bomb will get to smash up some ~100 point squad (if that) on the turn it drops, leaving the enemy army largely intact. And if your opponent goes first they can push your options to drop in way back, so you aren't even threatening their lines. Not to mention the harm they can do your army in their first two turns while roughly half your points are off-board.

I think these guys are better used to dominate the midfield of the board. That way you create space for the rest of your guys to run around claiming objectives, performing actions and shooting things.

Screens can be hit or miss. Certain armies like knights don’t have the screens they used too. And depending on your foe if deep striking won’t be viable have them run up the middle and be a bully unit
