I am fatigued of complaining about HH support at this point.

Literally 1 FW kit over 3 months after book 9 dropped, it's ing humiliating the level of support.

Dude, pandemic.

Okay, the pandemic is NOT an excuse in this case.

As Skimask said, the Contekar Counter is now up to 13 weeks since Crusade until we can actually own them. I genuinely doubt we'll see them on pre-order before December, MAYBE in December.

Night Lords Contekar Terminators were revealed in The Road to Thramas – Part 3: Terror Troops, on February 3, 2020. This was the 3D model render.

Then in Warhammer Preview Online: Shadow, Iron & Broken Realms on August 22, 2020 we have painted models of them.

Book Nine: Crusade was released on September 4th, 2020

Since the reveal, and release of Crusade, we've had SEVERAL models ALL FROM FORGE WORLD, revealed and released.

And we can't even use the "Well, Covid" excuse because since then we've had:

• Several Necromunda Hired Guns
• Multiple Blood Bowl Star Players
• Adeptus Titanicus Mechanicus Knights
• Aeronautica Imperialis models (including Battlefield Assets)

All revealed and released before the Contekar Terminators were released.

You're right, the pandemic isn't and excuse.

It's a reason.

I think the point he’s making is that if it was down to the pandemic it should’ve affected stuff other than Heresy too. Yet they seem to be able to put out Bloodbowl, Necromunda, Titanicus and AI releases at a rate of knots even during the pandemic whilst heresy is forever on the back burner.

There’s no reason the pandemic would slow down one and not the other.

At this point my best guess for the Contekar is that some chucklehead dropped the mold and broke it and now FW isn’t sure how to tell us.

Either that or FW is being really petty as everyone put them on blast about the Contekar, from in universe place to how they look etc- they took it personally in their responses. So I could see them throwing anything out front of them release wise to spite the 30k community.

The points made elsewhere about why the Contekar's delay is strange and irritating are solid but I think literally attributing it all to spite - to a specific malicious desire on the part of the company to make the poor long-suffering 30k community miserable by delaying a product release - is silly and solipsistic. It's toddler logic.

It also lacks any evidence, and is rather supposition, aimed at making others feels angry or negative to GW over this. It's rather "of our time", but not helpful to anyone?

 

 

Yeah, FW's heresy slowdown is bad and a mess and can't really be attributed entirely to the global pandemic but it's very clearly of a piece with, well, how it's been a mess for the last few years. A matter of disorganisation and probably resources going to other places rather than active cackling malice towards the persecuted 30k hobbyist. 

 

New Necromunda stuff though, nice. House Van Saar/'Book of Artifice' previews presumably?

Hmm, the art in that preview certainly looks like Drukhari armour to me

I wonder if the preview will be:

- more Hedonites stuff for AoS and Drukhari codex reveal for 40k (that's the decadence )
- Death Guard Codex detailed preview, and Zombie Vampire Pirates for AoS (going on some of the Rumour Engine posts recently) - that's the Decay

Either way, it should be interesting, I think these online previews have been pretty good this year - hopefully GW will continue them even when things go back to 'normal' (or something close to it)...

How much of the new Necromunda, Blood Bowl, Titanicus, and AI stuff has been in plastic? How much has been in resin? That's a serious question, I don't actually know because I don't play three of those systems, and haven't gotten off my duff about Necromunda lately.

I'm guessing, based on the delay of getting some of the resin stuff back in production on things that have been out and available for a long while now (it took something like four and a half months for me to be able to able to order an old Space Wolves Grey Slayers kit), that for reasons likely due to set up, and scale of sales/money making, resin production has taken a much bigger hit than plastic, which is likely more automated, open and able to be adjusted, or just larger scale. They likely need to build up X amount of stock before things can be sold as well, to try and avoid too much revolving door and sore feelings on the sales, so that may also be part of the delay if they are having issues with resin production lines - especially if they are also scrambling to try and make their other resin items.

It's understandable that people are upset if they really wanted the new items, especially if it's one of the only things they've been wanting to buy, but each person needs to evaluate just how much it's really worth it to them to get upset over this.

Speaking from personal experience, the casting room at my last employer was a space in which staff were definitely going to be unable to socially distance appropriately - and I know it's a similar situation at other comparable miniature companies. Given the long-standing stories of Forge World's production space being a bit naff I wouldn't be surprised if they faced similar difficulties which, of course, will impact production.

 

And again, the company has other responsibilities beyond the Horus Heresy now. It'd be nice if they worked on an MtO basis but they clearly aren't a fan of that model, so as Bryan has surmised they don't want to start releasing stuff until they've got enough stock held back to cover that initial release.

For your question: All mainline kits (Gangs, Teams, Titans and Aircraft) for the Specialist games are in plastic. For Necromunda and Blood Bowl, the Hired Guns and Brutes for the former, and Star Players, Special Weapons & Big Guys for the latter (with the exception of a few) are all resin, as well as any upgrades for them. With AI and AT it's mostly weapon upgrades and some full kits.

 

AI and AT have also received several full-resin kits revealed after the Contekar but before the Contekar were released (Ork Mega Bommer, AM Ground Assets, Tau Ground Assets and maybe the Arvus?). I know for a fact that the Bommer and Assets came out after Book Nine: Crusade.

 

Blood Bowl has also received a new Star Player who was revealed and released in under a week (Zolcath the Zoat), as in, revealed on Sunday last week, on pre-order on Friday three days ago.

 

With my, it's mostly annoyance of GW claiming Horus Heresy is one of their "core game systems" alongside 40k and AoS and yet seems to be treated like an afterthought compared to Specialist Games, which one would think would get less focus since they're the "specialist small stuff".

 

I'd have no problem if the Contekar came out and they ran out of stock and they became stuck as "Temporarily out of stock" for a few months because they'd be released and I'd at least be able to buy them. It's them dilly-dallying with the release of a unit that can easily be used by more than just 30k players, which means more money for GW in the end. But they don't release the kit and don't even answer people's questions of "hey when's this coming out?" which is just irritating.

Yea them calling heresy a core game and then pumping out specialist game stuff is frustrating. Maybe they axed it and put lotr back as a core system and feel like the splash releases of specialist games are a better allocation of resources.

I'm still waiting on that book 8 faq lol.

I hope at least they will be anatomically correct models, I am not a fan of the drukhari wyches models we have now.

I get ya on the "core game" thing - to me, that's always seemed like a sop to the players and strange, because I know I've never seen it as a core game - core games are sold by Games Workshop and can be bought on that site. Heck, in my eyes, like you guys are saying, the specialist games are more core to the company than Horus Heresy is (at least to me), because they get actual GW.com billing - there's really nothing that says "Buy our core game 'Horus Heresy' here on Forgeworld, our subsidiary" in the site. It certainly doesn't seem t be advertised like a core game IMO.

Gederas, I don't really know if I'd agree that if the models were released, and then out of stock for several months, that it would be less irritating for others - it would be more irritating to me, that's for sure. Imagine if the kit was "released" and sold out in a day, you didn't get a chance to buy it, and then you had to wait four to six months before it was restocked (because you can't buy it while it's out of stock). I know the upgrade pack I bought is already out of stock again, and that was up for less than a week. That doesn't seem any different than now, except that the kit hasn't been sold to anyone yet.

I do agree that FW, and GW as a whole, could be more open, but they seem to think that it might harm their business more than it helps, and given the level of anger directed at them sometimes, I'm not entirely sure that's wholly unfounded a thought. I think it would be a bigger benefit, but there would have to be a comfort level with the amount of transparency, and frankly that comfort level for the public seems like "you must tell us everything" and GW probably isn't willing to go there. I actually think people would be less satisfied with the partial answers GW is likely to give, and get tired of hearing things like "we don't know/we aren't sure." I'd be satisfied with just more info, personally, but I get that's a hard line for a company to tread.

And I realize how off topic we are here in this Preview thread, so I'm going to cease discussing this here, lest I get melta'd in the keister.

That certainly looks like a Dark Eldar armor shape in the "5 Days" image, but there's always seemed to be armor similarity (and bladed weapon similarity) with the Dark Elves (guess those are the shadow folk now in AoS), so I don't want to think it definitely is them.

I don't think that we are going to see Emperor's Children announced for 40K though, at least not on this preview. When they said Chaos, I didn't see a distinction that it was for 40K Chaos, so I wouldn't personally get my hopes up for that.

It's not like FW is lacking releases, hence why I think carte blanche dismissing criticism because 'pandemic' is incredibly dishonest. That would be valid if they had to do one release every other week or something, but that is clearly not the case at all.

 

They are doing like a record dump of releases for specialist games right now, stuff is falling from the sky for the other systems. When I finally think maybe they're done with them, they somehow find more. Maybe they're stringing it along to get all the specialist games stuff out of the way for something decent, idk.

They have never called AoD a core game afaik, they have called Horus Heresy a core IP but thats not the same thing at all. I mean AoD has never had anywhere near the support of a core game even at its height...

And yes Specialist games have suffered too, a bunch of them lost releases, mostly AT but necromunda has been pushed back a quarter and i suspect all the others have had similar bumps and issues we arent aware of because the SG studio is tight and leaks/previews tend to be super close to release, especially since they seem to have stopped their Warhammer tv content entirely where you got the best long term plans out of them.

The AoD studio previews a lot more, much further ahead of time which is where a lot of this is coming from i think, we have see nall their planned 2020 releases but thats clearly been sent into chaos by events. Would you Prefer previews a week or two before release once everything is locked in instead?

I mean just look at the forgeworld weekly releases the last few months, its all one or two kits per week, more only for slow sellers i suspect and as ive said before they have a bunch of systems to cover these days, getting more than one a month for any system right now is just coming off as entitled. I mean it sucks, but it sucks for eeeeveryone, you arent unique and special

And we're getting less than one a month, so stop posturing. At this point we are at 2 kits (Lion El'Jonson and Deathwing Companions) for the months of September, October and now November.

 

1 or 2 kits per week is a normal release rate. That is the point, they're basically operating at a relatively well paced release schedule right now.

 

And all were pushed back, book 9 was likely originally supposed to come out before the 9E launch.

Well, we "know" from the Rumour Engine and the New Edition/New Models preview that there's a new Lelith Hesperax model, and we also know there's a bunch of Slaanesh happening imminently. Who's Lelith chasing down in the lore?

The only named god-aligned CSM character who hasn't had a plastic update yet. Lucius.

We know the Decadence is AoS Slaanesh, and the Decay is 40k Deathguard.

 

If the pic is DE, that would mean that they are announcing the January Dexes too- which was my hope. Speculation- on very strong hints from GW- was that DA would be the Imperial counterpart. These two previews will be light teasers compared to the others- probably the piece they'll use to close the preview.

 

That's my guess anyway.

I echo the general feeling that HH lately does feel like paying a premium to be treated like a second-class citizen compared to the other Specialist Games. 

 

This week's preview is probably DG, although I would laugh my head off if they show something BA or DA that's completely new after the fairly shoddy model-side of things the SWs got. Although I'd take Primaris Dante in a heartbeat, weirdly completely out of pity for the guy than anything else after finishing his latest book. Poor bastard.

 

Now, if it is DE then I genuinely think it would be very well-deserved but I hate to say that Lelith is a far second imo on what should be a priority. Vect's current treatment is shameful, DE players should be allowed to roll the King-Prick of their faction. 

 

But I would laugh my head off if instead of any of the above they instead announce the Fangs of Blood or something, a 'new' unit of 'Reivers+Upgrade Sprue' born from the Siege of Baal to hunt Tyranids. They are missing the dubious features of a Reiver but instead feature painfully specific rules to hard-counter nids (in such a brutal fashion as to primarily function to cost you friends) for a silly points-premium.

 

...Obviously I am hoping that the above was not a fit of precognition on my part.
