Narrative campaign questions + Mournival Events rules

I'm in the process of putting together a campaign for a few friends, and we want to give them a try (mainly new units/rites/missions and stuff - custom characters we're not sure on yet). Anyone play with them yet? Any advice on tweaks, limitations, etc?

Also - as the gamemaster for a campaign, do you have any advice? I've "run" the multi mission sequences out of the boxed sets, as well as some of the ones from the Phall campaign in Extermination, but never had to build a campaign from the ground up. We've got people with basically every HH army, just not every legion is represented. My general plan is to make a map, divide into loyalists/traitors, and then make each map section have different rules/terrain in play (i.e. cityfight rules if they're fighting over a hive). I just have no clue on how to "score" things, choose points levels, etc. Each of us can field up to ~2.5-3k, all of which is/can be on the same side, not necessarily same force though.

Would you recommend using an established conflict, or designing one myself? How do you organize everything?

Ive played a bit with the Mournival stuff, but all ZM or small games and Purely with Sisters of Silence so i havent seen most of it, none of my opponents pulled anything egregious though :D

Having done a few campaigns in general id always create my own warzone unless folks are agitating for something. Maps can be good to theme games but i wouldnt recommend the kind where players fight over specific squares on the map, just tally results for each warzone so noone gets in a death spiral (IE Winners win and get advantages so they win more, losers get the opposite) and drops out, which can serious kill momentum later on.

Personally id just let players pick their own points values but recommend a level everyone can hit so folks can just rock up with a set list if they prefer, but other folks like the flex to play big games or a bunch of smaller ones. Run it for about 6 weeks, thats how long most people can stay on target for, then switch to another planet/system/conflict to keep things fresh.

Finally, there are thousands of pages of advice on running campaigns around, the same things apply to basically any campaign, its only system stuff that varies and id always argue to keep that simple! :)
