2000 pt World Eaters

This is the list for my Sons of Daedalus warhost. Daedalus was a disgraced Techmarine who forged several deamon engines. His censure was halted by Khârn and a core of bezerkers. Now a tentative joining of forces with the Betrayer, a first step to Daedalus’ rising to Demonhood.

This list is almost painted up, just need the Defiler, two rhinos, and one more Terminator. Then onward to more CSM, Obliterators, vehicles, and a lot more deamon engines.

I assume you're running your zerkers with what they're modeled with?  I run all of mine with chainaxe and bolt pistols, champs with PF and pistol, simply because it makes rolling dice a lot easier.  I'd probably drop the combi weapons from the zerker champs and put those points somewhere else, especially the melta.  If you're close enough for melta range you're gonna be charging anyway and most likely killing your target, so the melta is overkill (plus if you kill it with the melta you might not be in range to charge something which leaves your zerkers out in the open and doing nothing).  Maybe save those points for a chainfst on the termie champ.

 

Also, since you've got plenty of melee already, swapping the maulerfiend for forgefiend could be good, just to give you some more ranged damage and potentially deal with any aircraft you might face.

Great ideas.

Bezerkers are modeled that way, made before the big chainsword changes, but the boys do look good. I had added the combiweapons on the champions for a little bit more power before they charge, hopefully a juicy vehicle or dread, so they are also modeled that way. Twin lightning claws is a choice I might model.

I do have more models to build, plus one more Venom Crawler, and a box of Terminators. Certainly can make other changes. Also do have a Forgefiend, but I find the mauler just scares my opponents as he charges towards them, sometimes getting them to over commit to counter him.

If your doing Khorne Daemon Engines then you should check out the FW Blood Slaughterer. They got some changes but are still really cool in a WE list

Heh, I was looking at that model as a base conversion for a Demon Prince.

Well check out its profile too. They are cheap, fast, and will tear up whatever they slam into. I was even thinking of tossing in a disco-lord to support them but who knows if disco's will be useful once the csm book is out

Very true. I do figure most list building will really need to wait for the codex to drop to see what is what.

If you are still working on the list, every time I've run a Venomcrawler in my World Eaters lists I've always ended up wishing I had ran another Maulerfiend or a Heldrake instead. The Venomcrawler guns don't do enough work to justify it doing less work overall in melee then a Maulerfiend would. As for why I sometimes wish I had ran it as a Heldrake, Heldrakes are great for turn one charges tying up multiple gunline units, forcing them to waste command points early game in order to be able to shoot and preventing them from shooting at all late game. This was true in 8th but especially true in 9th where most armies can only overwatch once and it also costs a command point.

 

I played a 1600 point game a few days ago (A dual fist DP, two Disco Lords, two units of Berserkers in rhinos, cultists, two maulerfiends, and a heldrake) against a Salamander gunline with lots of melta and plasma. The heldrake kept his eradicators from shooting for two turns before finally killing them and then moved on to the other side of the board to tie up plasma inceptors in melee (couldn't kill them, but didn't need to). My opponent couldn't waste bullets on the heldrake when a maulerfiend and disco lord both made turn one charges, with the second disco lord and maulerfiend teed up for turn two charges, and my berserkers ready for whatever else by turn 3.

 

Provided you are actually playing games right now, I don't see buying two disco lords as an unsafe bet. Odds are you will use them again at some point, even if they get benched in the short run with the new CSM codex or a potential World Eaters codex.
