Is that up 1 attack from last edition, similar to Plague Marines?

Reaper Autocannon gained another -1 ap? Nice. Might make it worth taking. I wonder if regular ACs will asa well.

My thought as well!

That gun on chaos terminators could be worth using if it stays cheap. 8-10 points seems fine for 4 shots a turn at ap-2. Even at D1 that still brings some decent value with light AT and ranged fair against most infantry.

I mean, the Reaper Autocannon is still an autocannon

It should have the same AP as a normal autocannon.

The reaper autocannon was -2 AP in CSM while the ironhale autocannon stayed at -1 AP.
Based on that I suspect the standard autocannon will stay at -1.

Regular autocannons are AP-2. The Ironhail is smaller caliber

Iirc regular autocannons are shown to the AP-2 in the Imperial Armour Compendium

Higher Rate of Fire for less damage and shorter range.

Yea the 5" movement has me thinking that they'll be at 5++. Unfortunate if true; I really don't like the removal of features and unique identity. Cataphractii made thematic sense and was a great call-out to the heresy era stuff.

It's honestly a little odd. Can't really be balance to wholesale remove the statline from existence; 1" isn't going to solve mobility and the 4++ is alive and well in all the hammernators. Can't really be to prevent confusion since every unit has its own bespoke rules and you gotta learn them all. All I have left is either there's some great synergy gameplay that made them decide 4++ was too much in combination with DR (maybe resurrect + heal + fnp aura shenans/damage combo that necessitate a more fragile unit) or someone just really doesn't like heresy granularity being represented in their newest edition. Would explain why all the contemptors and up lost their WS/BS 2; everything's gotta be standardised to 40k.

I run relic terminators and before they were Cataprachtii ... 4++ was really good but with the extra wound and T5 I think BL terminators are still great. The extra attack is a big deal .

I'm wondering if Hateful Assault isn't a thing anymore, all the DG units are getting an extra attack baked in the data sheets.

I hope hateful assault is still a thing.  I'm REALLY tired of CSM being worse than generic marines (which is what Primaris are now).

It might not be. That might be why everything got the +1A. Mortarion got +1A and does not have Hateful Assault on his data sheet they showed.

These Terminators already have an extra attack built in over the loyalist counterparts, so you can relax.

Same with the Plague Marines. They have an extra attack over regular Astartes.

Mathematically these will be far, far more durable than loyalist versions on top. You should rejoice that the codex looks to be filled with unique rules. We need to move away from copy/paste rules from book to book.

Yeah if they build in another attack onto the base kit itself, there’s no harm or foul here if hateful assault goes away. It would be better than loyalist equivalent.

Hateful assault may have simply been a band aid for a couple months to appease traitors when loyalists got their charge bonuses. The Mortarion datasheet seems to suggest this.

Though, again, why can’t a Primaris marine attack just as much in a protracted combat as a chaos marine...? Tabletop game rules make my head hurt sometimes lol

So heavy bolters are doing D2 nowadays, but this autocannon - a notably heavier weapon - is still D1. M'kay.

If hateful assault goes, but +1a in everything comes in, that would be perfectly fine. Would show a close combat preferance for chaos. Loyalist are tired so quickly

Depends whether you're shooting death guard or not.

It seems like all death guard have become "veterans" which is denoted by getting an extra attack, so I presume they still get hateful assault on top of this. They seem strong and resilient, I'd imagine you won't be getting many for your points in 9th.
