1500pts Assaultcron throwing ideas round

Well met,

Been out the hobby a while and just threw together a 1500pt list of what (I hope) is a scary threat-saturation list of Necrons.

No chaff at all in the list it's all killy. So without further ado:

Outrider Detachment (1HQ, 2 Elite, 5 Fast Attack)

Dynasty Traits:

- 6" move before first turn

- -1T to units in close combat (hello T3 marines and welcome to my tomb world)

Catacomb Command Barge - 195pts

- Warscythe, Gauss Cannon (only gun in the list!)

- Resurrection Orb

- Warlord (Veil of Darkness, Implacable Conqueror)

C'tan Shard - Nightbringer - 350pts

10 Lychguard - 280pts

- Swords & Boards

5 Canoptek Wraiths - 175pts

- Vicious Claws

5 Canoptek Wraiths - 175pts

- Vicious Claws

3 Ophydian Destroyers - 105pts

3 Ophydian Destroyers - 105pts

3 Ophydian Destroyers - 105pts

1495pts

General Strategy

Bear in mind it's been a long time but this feels like a lot of threats to an opponent:

- Both Wraith units shoot up the board. Durable and killy

- Nightbringer shoots up the board. Very dangerous, very killy

- Barge & Lychguard chill out on the backfield for a turn, maybe perform an action (I hear this is what the kids call scoring objectives these days). Opponent thinks 'at least those guys aren't charging me' - turn 2 the Veil kicks in and they're both off and causing real problems somewhere.

- Three separate Destroyer threats deep strike. Very killy, and can redeploy to my backfield with the Stratagem in case the opponent goes after it.

Any thoughts? Whole idea is just to slaughter enemy objective-holders and then go after the rest.

A revision to the above list. I've explained my reasons beneath.

Orikan the Diviner - 110pts

10 Triarch Praetorians - 250pts

- Rod of Covenant

6 Canoptek Wraiths - 210pts

3 Ophydian Destroyers - 105pts

1495pts

Changes

Didn't like the potential susceptibility of the Lychguard + Veil combo to be blocked off by deep strike denial, with a list already relying heavily on it. Praetorians are mobile on their own and more independent so felt like a better choice. However I wanted something to buff their survivability, hence Orikan providing a 5++ with Master Chronomancer. Orikan will have to Advance to keep up (no problem as he can't shoot), and also once the Stars Align he can get stuck in quite happily as a Nightbringer-lite.

The Barge is now also freed up to move independently. He will stick behind the Praetorian screen for a turn and then shoot out and fly over enemy screens to assassinate characters. By then the Wraith units and Praetorians will be dealing damage, with the Nightbringer not far behind, and the Destroyers also causing havoc in the backfield.

Cut a unit of Destroyers because I think I can't have three duplicate units at this points level, but this paid for beefed-up Wraith units and Orikan so I think not a bad trade. The Wraiths will be big tarpits.

I think this is an improvement overall.

Orikan will really struggle to keep pace even if you advance him. Because he's an agent he doesn't benefit from the dynasty abilities so he will start 6" behind and the distance will only increase. He can likely just scrape a buff turn 1 but he'll be very exposed unless he shackles another of your mobile units to protect himself.

You can stick with the praetorians but I'd probably go chrono with veil and prismatic obfuscation. That way he can be exactly where he's needed and can't be shot unless he's the closest target so should be relatively safe.

So I was previously going with this, but regular Chronomancers can only target friendly [Dynasty] units, and Praetorians are Dynastic Agents so can't receive the benefit. Whereas Orikan's ability targets friendly [Necrons] units. It's a tricky one!
