@Grotsmasha

Thanks for picking the Raven Guard Company Veteran as February's favourite. I am really humbled by this and enjoying the whole show here. Thank you again for hosting this event! :)

I expect the number of finished models in my army to skyrocket as we get further down the road. This month I might see even two finished models ;)

Sneak peek from my March vow below:

That is a nice axe.

Here's my completion for March - five neophytes.

neophytes

And here's the squad they're boosting up to ten.

ilya's squad

This particular squad of neophytes specialise in ambushing deep into enemy territory, either bursting out from wherever they've been lying in wait to blast a critical objective clear of defenders, or appearing more stealthily to deploy disruptive scrambler tech to confuse the opposition's advance. The leader, Ilya, is a veteran of many skirmish engagements against the forces of the Imperial oppressors - he and his team fought incisively in the defence of Stalinvast hive for over a year. That original kill-team has since been redeployed across the Red Brotherhood's neophyte contingent, but Ilya has retained his icon bearer, Sergei, and his flamer-armed demolitions specialist Mikhail. Bolstered by a second flamer and several shotguns, Ilya has new means to take the fight to the enemies of the Brotherhood.

That's a really nice Blood Angel you have there Majkhel! That Power Axe! And what's your recipe for the black tabard? I am going for a black one on my Bladeguard too and this one looks good

Thank you kindly! :smile.:

Tabard is really simple in term of the painting idea: I base black (Vallejo Model Color Black), then progressively add white to black and apply diluted almost to the glaze consistency. After that I tend to wash the whole thing with thinned Black Templar contrast paint (concentrated on the recesses), but you can use any kind of black wash really.

If I was to make a cloak however, I'd start from a very dark grey and then work towards pure black in the recesses and glazed highlights on the folds. Wash everything afterwards to bring the layers together.

@Rogue - post bigger photos! Those neophytes deserve it!

I don't know how to!

It doesn't seem to matter what I do, nor how big the file is. Whatever I upload and post, it comes out at that size. I have no idea how everyone else manages to make their stuff so big.

Also, thanks :)

I think I'm due for an update! I'm currently working on fitting my new guns and pilot for the Tesseract ark. I used "lazy trazyn", slightly repositioned, and modified guns from you-know-where. There are discarded bits in the picture; I decided the longer gauss canons were going to be pretty annoying during gameplay. Still, they're magnetized so I can always swap them later if I want!

The ghost ark / doomsday ark is done:

I think I can make it!

Rogue, thank you! Sorry I missed your comment :) I'd like to complement your hybrids too. Loving the cracked visor and old-school flamer especially!

Miek, I dig those necron colours! Ark is looking great

Jolemai, those are such lovely sculpts and I love how you pumped their bases full of debris!

TPS, that is a fantastic centrepiece and beautifully painted at that!

I will see if I too can tackle something bigger still this month:
I, Majkhel of the Blood Angles, embark on the 12 Months of Hobby Challenge, and for the month of MARCH pledge to complete 1 Bladeguard Veteran and 1 Impulsor for the glory of the Angel :

Vow for March completed, two Taurox Primes (the right two in the first pic) finished. The Inquisition now has four Taurox to carry around their stormtroopers! Good thing I finished, because between overtime and training at work I'm not going to be able to paint anything more this month...

@Dosjetka - awesome (and speedy!) Mantis Warrior. How did you do the amazing shoulder icon? And thanks for the gallery tip.

Anyway, vow complete!

More wittering in the spoiler:

So I only have a few precious red Dark Angel decals from an ancient Epic decal set I got from ebay. But the coverage over black is terrible. So I put it on white, then blacked around it. I really like the 'Rogue Trader' vibe. Unfortunately I did not do that with the Deathwing crossed swords on the other shoulder, so the less seen of that the better ...

And with his bro. Hey, if I carry on like this maybe I'll have a squad by the end of the year?

Some progress on the pilot and weapons, doesn't look like much yet but the next session should be quite satisfying (bit of airbrush on the guns and red and golden accents on the pilot):

While I had the airbrush out, I started basecoating my next vow (April). I'll leave then as they are until then (black primer, Payne's grey from below, leadbelcher from above):
