"Blood and glory!"

Thanks Zebulon! Apologies for the overly dramatic reveal post, I got excited about this project!

So, I was looking at what Faction to build next for Kill Team, and I was looking at getting some of the cool Assault Intercessors from Indomitus to kitbash in some way or another. After a bit of research, I thought that a Deathwatch KT would be a classic option that I hadn't actually put together yet. But then I was thinking about how to make them unique and 'mine' as there isn't a great deal of variance in the DW scheme.

Then it struck me. Highly individual warriors, from vastly different backgrounds, fighting as a tiny unit without support?

THE IRON GODS RETURN!!!

For everyone (most to be fair!) who doesn't have a clue who the Iron Gods are, they're one of my DIY Astartes groups, renegade pirates led by the cunning megalomaniac Talek Varn, which I created more than a decade ago (I had to go back and check, yep more than 12 years. Blimey, that went quick). For anyone who's interested, here's the links to their Index Traitoris and also the old HoH thread for the army I built:

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/362681-index-traitoris-iron-gods/

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/200198-iron-gods-pirates/

So, what is the plan? Well, there won't be a huge number of models (DW in KT have notoriously small but elite teams) but the idea is very much in line with the old Iron Gods style: a mix of armour Mks, loyalist/traitor pieces, iconography and kit from all the different chapter bitz, and lots of pouches and ammo to give the feel of them working alone and taking everything along that they might need to get the job done!

So there are actually some pics in this WIP thread, here's my first renegade:

I'm really happy with the pose, its basically just a few swap-arounds from the Assault Intercessors. Then gun and head from the regular Intercessors box and some spare bitz from my box!

Aaaanywhooo, thanks for looking, C+C is always welcome!

Well! That all looks very cool (looking at the older threads too)

I definitely see the appeal of renegades of every hue; also mixing and matching armour marks is a great way to add character and individuality to models.

Your first guy looks great, though I always find it improbable when they are carrying that much load on a single wrist - the gun looks so chunky but I guess what with the armour and being superhuman maybe it’s not such a stretch...

I saw the title, and I just knew this was going to be the Iron Gods. :biggrin.:

It's good to see these scoundrels rise from the astral depths once more!

I'd say you're off to a strong start, too - that marine looks fantastic, I can't wait to see some paint on him. :happy.:

Thanks Ace, maybe I'll make another renegade Stonebound? (Not that I'm implying your guys are prone to turning renegade or anything! :D )

Anyway, had time to put another KT member together, in rules terms he's a Zealot Specialist DW Blackshield with Power Maul and Storm Shield:

Hello all, had some time to put another KT member together for the Iron Gods, this one is a Heavy Specialist DW Veteran Gunner with an Infernus Heavy Bolter (as evidenced by Mazer Rackham's character Akkad in the PBP game, it's one of the coolest guns around!)

Wasn't sure how he'd go together, knew I'd use the right arm with the computer (ammo counter?) but didn't want to use the left arm with the distinctive DW elbow armour thing. Thankfully one of the spare Intercessor bolt rifle arms was at a near identical angle so worked fine!

Then had a spare chaos backpack I could de-spike a little, and voila. Again, very happy with the Assault Intercessors as a base, such a nice sense of movement!

Another new KT member, this one will be the Leader Specialist, a Watcb Sgt armed with a combi plasma:

Pic came out a little blurry for some reason... never mind. Was quite pleased with the leg detail, was trying to do something reminiscent of the MK V jury rigged add ons?

Next will be some some of the squad leader characters from the old army, given an upgrade with the new kits!

Aaand final 2 members of the Iron Gods KT join the thread. Those with very good memories might remember brothers Ghoran and Castor from the old IG army!

Ghoran is an Intercessor Sgt Combat Specialist with Bolt rifle and Power fist.

And Castor is a Reiver Sgt (no Specialism) with Bolt Carbine, Combat knife, Grapnel launcher and Grav-chute.

And that will be the team. Although... I don't usually do KT Commanders, but I am tempted to convert a Primaris Librarian into the IG's only psyker, brother Degier...

And the new Abaddon would make an amazing base for a bigger, badder Talek Varn... :P
