To all you Space Wolf Players... Its called a Razor and the Soap isn't a Daemon.

The Iron Hands, they are the real emo marines. Seriously. The Dark Angels aren't the ones who sit around cutting off bits of themselves, wearing black, and complaining about weakness and ennui...

I'm interested in playing an assault marine. Was leaning towards flesh tearers but seeing the option to play my homebrew dána gabhar has me leaning towards that.

Hello Commissar Molotov and everyone else,

I am also interested in joining this game if there's still a slot open.

I do have some questions though. I know you said you prefer using lesser-known chapters, but what are your feelings regarding the first founding chapters who don't have any successors? I think that's only the Space Wolves and Salamanders. Also Black Templars aren't first founding, but they're so popular they might as well be. What are your thoughts on them?

I don't have any solid ideas yet though I have been thinking about an Angels of Absolution Tactical Marine. Really though I'd be happy playing whatever Chapter and role you'd think would fit best. I'm fairly well versed in the lore so I think I can handle roleplaying as any Chapter.

And if you don't have any room for me I still appreciate the consideration.

Thanks!

Hey, Finally got my account approved! I too would like to join the game. Not sure what I want to play yet, but I like the idea of an Assault Marine, maybe a duelist of some kind.

I'm interested in joining if possible, although I haven't played any of the 40k RPGs in a couple years at this point so I'll be a little rusty. As far as a character I'd be interested in playing a Raptors Apothecary

Hi everyone!

Just as a note, Brother Tyler has given approval for a announcement post in the NR&A forum.

Today I am going to be emailing my current players and asking their intentions regarding Episode III. Attrition is an unfortunate aspect of RPG games, but if I can avoid it, I'd like to. I put a lot of work in trying to mesh the characters into the narrative, and it's not easy to immediately rip them out and replace them. If a player leaves in the middle of a game it means I either have to kill the player character, or run them as an NPC for an extended period of time.

That will allow me to establish both the total number of slots I can make available, as well as the specialisations that players could choose from.

Lysimachus: I've skimmed through both IAs (rather nostalgic to be back in the Liber!) and my thoughts are that a Stormbringer devastator might be an interesting character archetype. What do you reckon?

Trokair: I really like some aspects of your chapter (the starfield on the Chapter pauldron is a beautiful idea!) but I do have to admit to reservations regarding their name. "The Voidborn" is the same as saying "The Martians" or "The Klingons" - could it be a situation like the Carcharadons Astra / Space Sharks where your Chapter has a "high" and "low" name? For example, they might be called "The Celestants" or "The Marines Celestant" but they are commonly known for all intents and purposes as "Voidborn". I ask because it would give use a little more flexibility when it comes to describing your Marine. Do you have any particular preferences with regards to what type of Marine you play?

AHorriblePerson: Really good to see you here. AHP has been messaging me for a few months regarding a concept; playing one of the Marines Revenant, the Chapter chosen by FW to be the punching bag in IA12. The game is set before the Necrons destroy their homeworld, however.

Techcaptain: Techcaptain has also asked about playing a Bloodmoon Hunter, the same Chapter that the Marine from his Kill-Marine game with Mazer is from.

Adestro: - A Marine (with pilot/driving skills) from an unknown provenance armoured chapter... as I said, be sure to check out the Liber Astartes forum - it is a hub for some of the most creative and unique DIY Chapters on the internet.

Mosevert: - Welcome to the board! It seems possible (and likely, even) that we would have an Assault Marine space open. I'd rather avoid Flesh Tearers because one of our characters, Varvost is effectively using Flesh Tearers rules (though he hails from a Chapter known as the Eradicators.)

Jeremy: Good to see you here! In answer to your question, we do have a Space Wolf character, but he is an NPC. I would be happy to accept a Black Templar in the game - their numbers and their wide-spread nature means that they'd be ideal Deathwatch candidates. I'd also accept an Angel of Absolution - we only have one Dark Angel successor in the game thus far, so it is definitely something we could accommodate.

Petragor: Welcome to the board! - As I said to Mosevert, it is more than likely we could accept an Assault Marine.

Mojake: Welcome to the board! I've received your Librarian concept and will give it a thought as to how I could move forward with it. Please bear with me!

Komrk: Welcome! We already have a Raptors marine in our game, unfortunately, along with two Apothecaries. By all means please check out our Character thread in this forum (linked in the first post) so you can see what other people have played.

Alright. I was thinking of doing a Fists successor chapter Marine, but the Squads listed already have quite a few of them. If there is a third squad to join as a Fist successor I'll do that, otherwise I'll pick another progenitor chapter. Either way, I was wanting my character to be a fleet veteran, having experience in boarding enemy ships and defendiing when opponents do the same. I was looking to pick up some Pilot (Spacecraft) and Tactics (Void Combat) to give a unique skillset to the Squad during missions that include deploying in space.

Alright, looking at what you have for players, I'm looking at a tactical marine from the Carcharodons chapter.

I plan for Darro, my Bloodmoon Hunter to be a Demolitions Trap maker basically for those that don’t know. The lore of the Chapter is in Liber or on homebrew wiki. Thanks to Mol, they already have build. Any questions on my guy feel free to message me. I love chatting about characters.

I'm hoping that I can join with my Angels Sanguine Librarian, if not I'm happy to roll up something else - a Techmarine would be great fun.

As an aside, is there any way to turn on notifications for this topic or receive email updates? New to the forum and I'm having to refresh every so often because I'm not getting any pings.

Voidborn as the chapter name is perfectly fine; it is how I think of them. The ‘The’ in the IA article name (and wherever else I used it as a part of a title/name rather than just part of relevant grammar) I think stems from the fact that at the time I was playing around with several name ideas and compared to some of the other options Voidborn sound a bit plain, but now that the name has been fixed in my mind for a fair while it’s ok. The ‘The’ gave it an emphasis to help them stand out in my mind that wasn’t really needed in retrospect.

As for my Marine, Brynjarr (subject to change, I only settled on this name yesterday) is a line marine and would have served as part of a Breacher Team. To me the particular needs of ship boarding action and similar means that the traditional Tactical squad and Assault squad distinction is not in place and a Breacher squad will consist of a mix shield and bolter armed marines and shield and melee weapon marines with the support of some specialists (i.e. weapons such as meltaguns or non standard equipment such as hull cutting gear/other tech stuff to interact with a hostile ship/space station).

So depending on what you need/have space for, Brynjarr can be a Breacher shield and Bolter Tactical marine, or a Breacher shield and melee weapon (leaning towards power maul) Assault marine.

Edit: Mojake, welcome to the B&C. there is a follow button for the thread near the top of the page (right side), you may also need to check your settings (drop down menu from your name very top left) to set what notifications you get.

Komrk: Unfortunately, for reasons of narrative, at this juncture I am heavily limiting the number of Marines from Badab War Chapters (as stated in my first post.) I already have a Raptor and an Astral Claw in my player pool; one player has messaged me about the Star Phantoms, which I am currently considering. The opening of Episode III is going to deal with the news of the Badab War.

Petragor: We currently have an Invader (who has unfortunately just died) and a Crimson Fist - but there would be space for another Son of Dorn. As I mentioned previously I'd be fine with a Templar joining; there are also FFG rules for the Subjugators and the Hammers of Dorn. Void warfare is a popular concept (see Trokair's posts in this thread) but it is something that the Astartes do very well.

Mojake: I've emailed Noctus regarding his future plans. If Montesa is no longer an active player character, then there would be space for a Librarian. I'll just need to wait and hear back from my players. With regard to your other point, the email notifications for the board have been turned off due to earlier issues. Please don't feel you need to constantly check out the forum - once the game starts, you will find that the pace ebbs and flows according to peoples' (read: my) schedules.

Ooooh... the Revilers are interesting, and very distinct from anything else we've got. I've just checked them out online and didn't realise how much fluff they've managed to accumulate. It looks as though there are several campaigns close to the present day of my storyline (918.M41) that your character could've participated in!

Alrighty, I think I'll go with the Celestial Lions rather than create a custom chapter. They seem quite cool, and since this is before the Third Armageddon War, they're still at full strength.

I figure that a veteran of the Lithon Purge could be a good tie in to Deathwatch service unless you want a campaign closer in time.

I'd like to take part! I'm interested in playing an Emperor's Spears marine. Have little knowledge of the rules but would like to explore that chapter's story before their last stand after the galaxy split in twain.

Maybe you could model TWC-sized "were-templars" who's inner Templar took over in the fury of battle transforming them into a giant half man - half templar?

As I said, I'm just waiting to hear back from my current players regarding their availability for Episode III. That'll allow me to make sure I can offer as many people a place as possible.

What i want to avoid is you going to the trouble of making detailed posts only for me to reject them - as that makes me seem cruel and you feel disheartened.

Please just bear with me over the next day or so - and feel free to discuss ideas - until I can firm up a little.

We still have two or so weeks before Episode III will start, so we'll have time to work on character profiles, stats and XP expenditure, etc.
