DH: A Future, Severed - Discussion/Recruitment

How about making your character is a less-experienced member of the regiment? One who's thrown into a warzone just after bootcamp and ends up being (supposedly) the only survivor after his platoon/company/regiment gets massacred due to unreliable intel (oh, the irony)? And they're then picked up by the Inquisition who can always use an extra intelligence specialist working for them (and are investigating the massacre).

I suggest this because your character's starting skills will not reflect the experience and skills of a seasoned veteran in any way and this might be a bit frustrating (though I'll do what I can to avoid that).

Works perfectly with what is in my mind hence Warrant Officer and not a Chief or worse a Master Warrant. Basically I am think he is fresh for his rank denoting he has the special training in Intel but not much more.

It is absolutely no problem thanks for putting up with my oddball requests. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363756-index-militarum-lunar-venatorii-regiments/ Also I this might be useful as a reference.

Rank/Name: Warrant Officer Nphrean Gown

Specialty: Intelligence Officer

History:

Fresh out of training on the Schola Moon of Verliaus, Nphrean Gown made a name for himself as one who could always find the information he needed. This lead the young man to the specialized Training of the Vox Adepts in the Lunar Venatorii. Attached to the 678th Lunar Venatorii Light Cavalry Regiment for his first assignment, Gown quickly learned that even the best of training and talent did not make up for experience. That was brutally apparent when his regiment was supposed to be stationed behind the Imperial lines for a simple guarding of the Headquarters mission when disaster struck. Intelligence of the Enemy was extremely poor which was why his unit was brought in and the cause of his unit's utter destruction. Gown ended up the only survivor of his regiment, worse due to this disaster, his unit wasn't the only one gone in a matter of minutes. With no support and very few resources Gown ended up having to trade away most of his gear just to survive, until he was picked up by the Inquisition.

Sounds like a decent foundation for your character, good job. :tu:

Now: I have to finish tweaking the custom Career Path we've got for you, TechCaptain, we have to see what direction Morovir wants to take with his Arbitrator, and then AT can finally pick what his character will be. Let's make it so we're more or less sorted with basic choices and background by the end of the week, or is that too ambitious?

Reviewing because I am bored at work. I agree that medical supplies won't be too effective for WO Gown, I was more thinking of it like the basic gear used to wrap an open wound or to be used by a field medic because it is handy/Basic First aid. I reread and finally caught what you were saying about the las/hell pistol. And I am cool with either method we go with, basically for my lore purposes, what Mjorn pistols special is the fact they are designed to have the ability to change the light frequency of the shot. (i.e. change what color and how ouchy they are.) For the game I wasn't thinking anything that powerful. A neat story would be he has a Mjorn Pistol that is stuck in a low power setting and due to a lack of proper Mechanicus facilities total repair is impossible but it functions for his purposes as a defense weapon.

If we have tech use covered then scum it is. I rolled up 9 stats a few days back on orokos - use as rolled or any number on any stat?

TechCaptain: We can see about giving you something to staunch bleeding which you can use with a successful Intelligence check. Having your pistol stuck on a low-intensity setting is a great idea. :tu:

AT: you can assign the numbers you rolled to the stats of your choice. :)

Basic character framework - Sketch, hive scum.

A scrawny hive runt, unremarkable in appearance which is just the way he likes it. Carries a shotgun so old and battered it looks like it predates the heresy as a distraction from the impeccably maintained autopistol concealed on his person - as much to discourage someone from stealing it as to actually hide it from discovery.

Great, cheers for posting that up, AT. I'll share the character sheets we'll be using with you all within the next couple of days. Until then, Morovir and TechCaptain can work towards getting their character frameworks to a similar stage as AT's. If you need any help, feel free to ask here!

I'd also like for all of you to have a look at this document* which will help add an extra bit of depth to your characters during their creation and as we progress through our story. Feel free to write down why your character has a particular memento, what it means to them and why they've hung onto it while other things have been lost or sold away.

*Needs to be approved by the staff first, might take a few hours until it's accessible. All good, available for download. :smile.:

Steel toecaps and a bottle of shrapnel. Cash allowing will have to look into picking up proper mirkers greaves (excessive hiver steel toecaps, IH p125) at some point.

As for the bottle, i'm sure at some point it was an improvised frag grenade until the character got lost for a week in the underhive with nothing else to drink.

  • 4 weeks later...

Hello folks,

Apologies for the lack of news this past month: I've been busy with a new job, personal matters, and various bits and pieces across the B&C. The story planning is progressing but its progress is slow.

I'll give you all a proper update within the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your patience and take care!
