Games Workshop webstore shipping speed?

So, this may be a stupid question and/or may not belong here, but can anyone tell me how long it usually takes the webstore to ship items in the US? Until recently I hadnt ordered anything from the official store in almost 15 years and their faq is being vague concerning covid delays and whatnot so I dont know what to expect and would rather not poke customer service unless I have to.

At any rate, I preordered a bunch of the dark angels stuff the second preorders went live, and while they have billed me, I havent heard anything since (so 2 ish weeks?), ive also placed a couple of other smaller orders this past week that havent had any movement despite having been charged. Is this normal?

Sort of.

First off, don't be afraid to email customer service. I've had to reach out to them a few times with regards to missing sprues from boxed sets and a defect in a Heldrake wing. They're committed to customer satisfaction and are pretty pleasant to deal with.

Most of the orders I've made from the webstore were dispatched from Tennessee. Would not surprise me to learn orders for new products take longer as they wait for stuff to be shipped from the UK.

But I'd just drop them a line and check. They gave me a tracking number each time I asked for one.

While I can’t speak for shipping time in the US have you received the emails confirming that your items have been shipped? They normal send one email when they confirm the order/you are charged, and another when the item is actually been shipped. If you have then do contact customer service.

Also, no doubt due to covid, there has been some longer shipping delays on new stuff than normal. Some of the new space marine stuff (specifically ATV that I know of but other bits as well I believe) did not arrive until six ( I think) or so weeks after it should have.

My last 3 orders have taken 20 days each. They aren’t combining orders received while others are pending too. The fastest way to get a model is to ship to store. If you order midweek, you can pick it up by Friday or Saturday the next week. Edited by Marshal Rohr

It's taken about 3-4 weeks to get most of my orders recently. The one time I had a delivery go AWOL (tracking said it had been delivered when it hadn't), I called customer service and it was resolved in a couple of days. Just keep in mind that every link in the supply chain -- from sourcing raw materials, to production, to stocking, to shipping -- are all affected by COVID-related delays. In the "before-times", 1-2 weeks was a normal shipping time for me. We'll get back there eventually. In the meantime, as others have said, just watch your email and don't be afraid to reach out to customer support if you think something has gone wrong.

I haven't gotten any shipping emails no. Just the confirmation of order emails.

Isn't it a tad ridiculous though, covid or not, for it to take potentially months to stick a couple things in a box and mail it?

OTOH - ordered bits off eBay from 3 separate UK sellers 12 days ago.

3 packages arrived yesterday, less than 2 weeks. That's got to be a record for UK mail delivery.

Still waiting for a couple others, but glad to know the mail system is not entirely dysfunctional.

I just posted my own version of this ... but what has me wondering, is why if you have it shipped to your local GW store it gets there in under a week, but if you have it shipped to your home address (I'm 30 mins from the store), its day 18 and I'm still waiting with the orders still "pending"?

On the surface it seems resources are dedicated to one option and not the other?

Pretty much. Orders to stores will ALWAYS be prioritized over home orders

Store deliveries use express shipping, I think with FedEx. They're not using the normal postage system.

Ebay sellers can mark their packages as gifts, making it much faster through customs, while GW can't and due to brexit things takes much much longer.

Here in the U.S. items ship out of the Tennessee location.

If they don't have it in stock, they will get it from UK I assume, thus taking much longer than usual.

If it isn’t in the Memphis warehouse it goes ‘temporarily out of stock’ and ‘no longer available’
