Not as durable as terminators or BGV, but more mobile than BGV as can advance and shoot (and the shooting is actually meaningful), and have decent melee. So they can make meaningful contributions in both shooting and melee phases (like terminators). That said, terminators have native deepstrike, and that is worth something, but I think Aggressors are a good "move and mess things up as you go" unit that can also do a good-ish impersonation of a BGV-style brick wall or tar pit of death when it comes to melee.
