Traitor Primarchs and Emperors Children.

Hello everyone! So yesterday a buddy of mine is getting out of the hobby so he GAVE me his Horus heresy collection, it’s a glorious emperors children army and 5 traitor Primarchs. Horus and Fulgrim are already painted to a ridiculous standard I won’t be able to replicate but I have Lorgar, Angron and Mortarion to paint. The first primarch I have begun work on is Lorgar. Please let me know what you think!

That's a generous friend. :o

Good work so far! I especially like the skin tone. :tu:

He’s actually the guy who taught me how to paint. But sadly his eyesight is not what it used to be and he works about 80 hours a week.

Lorgar looks great, I think you've really captured the golden skin that he's described with, but without making it unnatural or garish. It might be nice if the runes on the base were glowing with some sort of lambent power.

I might try that!

I'd be careful on the rune-glow in general on lorgar. The model can get extremely busy with all the trim and the surface being broken up by the runes in general. I personally did blood on the base-rune as if it was part of a sacrificial rite. Adds some interest but doesn't pull attention away from the model.

I think @SkimaskMohawk is right to urge caution with the runes, I think if both those on the armour and the base have glow effects, it could look a bit overdone.

Nice use of the Minotaurs' Chaplain sculpt, I think it suits the Emperor's Children quite well. I like how you'v combined the black and purple on his armout too. The gold on the chap in the bakcground is also looking good!

The chap in the back is one of the models that were already painted by my friend who gave me the army, I am trying to recreate the purple/magenta that he used so I am using one of the existing models as a template so to speak.

I see! It's a nice colour actually and you look like you're getting pretty close.

It’s close but I need my Magenta/pink/reds/purple paints to show up from Amazon lol.

Considering I play mainly imperial fists my red-blue spectrum of colors is lacking lol

What is this thing on the back on his crozium? A gun?

While this is not a Primarch obviously it is my first crack at painting up some of the emperors children. Here is my WIP jump chaplain.

It was originally an aux grenade launcher when the model released.

The character that I cut up is a special character from the Minotaur chapter who special Crozius has a grenade launcher on the back lol

  • 2 weeks later...

That's a nice colour and a cool model! The only nitpick I have is that the blood drop on the helm might be better off being removed, but I guess it's too late! Still pretty clearly a lord of the IIIrd!

I left it because I had already ruined 1 sanguinary guard head removing the blood drops lol so I decided to leave it
