My first necron models

Hi all.

Normally I wouldn't post something like this. But since this section of the B&C seems rather quiet, it made sense to post SOMETHING.

I've recently purchased the necron half of the indomitus box, as well as an extra few skorpekh destroyers (because they're so cool!)

And I'll be purchasing a doomstalker once I've finished these guys, because war of the world's.

I've just today, finalised how I'll be doing my bronzy paint job. Tried to get a slight transition from silver on the top portions of the limbs to dark bronze on the bottom. gallery_80056_16938_342575.jpg

And also just finished a plasmancers blade after watching a super helpful tutorial. Its not great, but hopefully it will improve with each iteration. I'm hoping I have the patience to do all the models with the same affect!

I also cut up some sprue to make some crystals to go on every single base.

I might try to do some OSL on the legs amd such from the crystals.

But Hopefully the whole force looks okay when all is completed. It will take a long while with a toddler, a newborn and work. Plus I'm a slowww painter aha.

Thanks all!

I stole the main idea for the scheme from a YouTuber, juan hidalgo miniatures. I just preferred the scheme a little darker, so used fyreslayer for most of it, and canoptek armour shade at the very bottom.

@mithril I was thinking the same! I don't own any inks, but have been trying with paints, the white highlights I've done seem to pick it up too much. I think I just need more practice for smoother transitions lol.

Yeah it definitely would! I've not the greatest of brush control, so will take some practice aha.

Think I need some better brushes too. The tip is fine on my brush, but the belly is small, so I'm finding the tip dries really fast, and have to press a little harder than I should.

Did some batch painting today. Means nothing here is finished yet.

Painting this way definitely has its pros and cons for me. On one hand, I definitely feel like I've accomplished more. Seeing more models with paint on definitely helps woth morale

Thanks! Might not show well with the reduced quality. Just screenshots from my phone since you can't alter image quality on mobile like you can on pc.

But the lines are a tad harsh on the skorpekh destroyers and the reanimator.

I quite like the reanimator model though! Id like to buy a few more, but if I ever do start playing again, they'd never be used with a destroyer heavy list. Think I'll see if i can get a doomstalker on ebay over the weekend. Pretty much the same aesthetic.

Do you guys have any recommendations for additional synergistic units if you're running a destroyer heavy list? I don't think I'll buy any of the shooty ones. Just the skorpekh and eventually the ophydians.

Yeah I was looking at the chronomancer. Rules look pretty tasty! They have the speed to keep up too. I feel like I'd probably need at least 2.

But I think the model is really ugly and they are like £20 each from ebay.

I think if I was to get any, I'd use the psychomancer models as a proxy. They go much better with the ophydian destroyer aesthetic too.

Are there any cool tactics to try and keep it alive though? It would have to stay pretty close to the other destroyer units which would be running head first into the enemy, and once that chronomancer gets on combat, his 1 attack is pretty measly.

I’m not too sure how to keep chronomancers alive, beyond the basic thing of standing behind 20 warriors. He can give some Skorpekhs the buff in the command phase and then bug out in the opposite direction, if necessary.

I got one off ebay. One thing I like about it is that it comes with a spare staff, hand with cube thingy and 3 heads. I’m going to use these bits and some spares to make my second one I think.

Had an extremely crap day at work. So finished a model. My first fully finished necron model so far. Also my first attempt of OSL type painting. I think it looks alright! Could do with a tad more yellow in the big middle glowy bit. Hopefully by the end of the army, I'll be very proficient at it. I'm hoping to do all the models in the same fashion.
