My first necron models

Had a little more time to myself today! Mostly finished up the doomstalker. Just a bit of tidying and orb OSL to do. Don't think I'll do any of that until I decide on what do do with the base!

I'll be honest. Im not happy at all with the overall neatness of these particular models. But they look okay from a distance, so I'll be leaving them.

But I'm looking for some advice of the chest pieces.

Do I keep them plain, like the model on the right?

Or do I go full glow on the left, or partial recess glow also on the left?

I was a busy boy yesterday though. Got quite a bit finished.

I'm not super fond of glow effects in the ribcage so my preference is either that or a plain glow.

For your satisfaction about the models, you can always rework on them in the future if you want but I find that I always prefer painting new models than "updating" already painted ones. I think they look more than ok for tabletop and you're making great progress, my suggestion would be to keep this pace for most units but really push yourself for characters.

Thanks!

Yeah I feel the same, hate going back to rework models lol. I'll definitely finish off everything first and go back if I'm bored one day. I have a bit on back order that'll likely take a while. So might redo them whilst waiting.

And my method for the glow is really just basic glazing. Im not patient or skilled enough for blending and such. I just do a few glazes of warpstone and tesseract glow.

Im just not sure how far I want to push it from the crystals or if I want to attempt glow on the arms and bodies from the blades at all.

I’d go with the recessed glow in the chest pieces. I tend to put some wash in those spots to give some depth to the torso, and I think the green glow would look great when depth-ing the torso.

And here all the skorpekh boys and girls together

Wondering how I Can make it stand out more though? You think it would be too much gold if I painted its shoulder pads?

Got some deliveries! And in the process of building.

I tried using some spare parts from the chronomancer and triarch stalker, to make a second chronomancer. Its a little funky, still needs some bits filled and such.... And doesn't fit on the regular sized base.... so only allowed for friendly games (if I played).

But considering the rules almost seem like its designed to hang around skorpekh destroyers, I feel it now fits their theme better.

Also just finished my first 3 scorpion wraiths. Noooot super happy with the neatness. But hopefully they look better when eventually painted.
