'To Plunder the Stars Themselves' OOC Thread

Lysimachus

Recommended Posts

Okie dokie, I'm back and ready to go again.

(For anyone that's interested, it all went beautifully, the bride looked stunning, everyone had a good time, weather and food were excellent and no-one threw anything during my little 'bit' so I think I did ok!)

Anyway, feel free to start your Round 2 posts, I'm guessing the main target will be the unwounded Tech-Priest and Officer? (although I suspect Vesalius may be planning to finish off his grudge match!)

I think it was mentioned that it was.

Only thing I can think of is taking out the leader, but that requires finding out where he is first, and then getting to him without being bogged down along the way.

Maybe see if we can jump one of the defense frigate for more info (like the Wolves did at Prospero, only on a smaller scale), and then false flag/ void walk our way in?

That is, if knocking on the front door, asking to meet with him in person, and then shooting him in the face if he accepts is entirely outside the realm of sanity. Or offering a priceless relic for personal inspection, maybe a not so dead/stasis locked astartes?

Also, does this merchant ship have an armoury to raid for more explosives?

Might also be a good idea to probe his mercenaries' loyalty.

The Iron Gods don't seem like the kind of people who want you to just roll over and give up.

What if we have our ship jump in as close as possible and we launch in an assault shuttle that is immediately shut down and just drifts until right before impact

Another option is to use this ship, return to to that system with us stowed away, and when the ship docks we appear out of nowhere and cause chaos

I wouldn't worry too much about the 'fleet' at this point, at the moment it's all rumour? That said, by system ships I mean really small boats (maybe a third of the size of your Escort-class) so Achard can easily handle a few of them if he had to. The base itself is much bigger though, so you might need to figure out a sneaker way past its defences. Once you get the datalogs back to the Dagger, you can do more to examine them and make your plans?

As to more equipment, I don't think the Lady will have anything useful aboard (they would have tried to use it on you if they had it! :D)

Is there any leftover heavy bolter ammo from the gun servitors?

Yep, there's probably a few bits scattered about the bridge that you could think about looting... you are pirates, after all!

We have bulkhead shears -- what more could we possibly need? :P

If Thragg has only recently been forced to pay tribute then his vessel might look suspicious if it appeared again too soon to have made the round trip yet.

However maybe we can get him and his ship to drop into that system, wail on the vox about elder raiders attacking him and then flee again. Might drive a wedge between this Von Caeryd and any xenos allies he has. Also his men would then be expecting a different enemy then

With close enough proximity Odysseus can teleport the whole group through the void, though we would still need to cut/burn/hack our way inside of any target.

I wonder whether we might be able to thin the Prince's defenses somewhat.

It might be possible for the Dagger to enter the edges of the system, probing in the hopes of drawing off any defense vessels.

We could bring the Bounteous Lady in - Trokair's point about them coming back too soon might be worthwhile, so they could either claim technical distress, or perhaps could be "fleeing from the Iron Gods."

We could be aboard the Bounteous Lady, and could assault any boarding party. Alternately, as others have mentioned, we could use the Bounteous Lady to slip us closer so that we can enter unobserved.

Another option is to have the Bounteous Lady enter the system, and then whichever ships come to threaten/assist get caught in an overload of the warp drives...?
