Returning player, looking to see if I understand current GK

Hi all,

I haven't really played much over the last year, but I'm looking to get back into the hobby with an aim to be back playing events by late summer.

I have a rough outline of a list I think would work well, and I'd like some feedback as to what is underwhelming - and most importantly why it is so I can get a good skeleton of a list to tweak when I can get back to playing games in May/June.

The basic list premise is the "one and a half Paladin squad" (so a 10 man Paladin Squad paired with a 10 man Terminator Squad) with healthy back up from 2 Psilencer Purgation squads and some Interceptors for positional control.

Powers are something I'm not 100% on, so feedback on where to put those would be great too!

1998pts, 12CP

++Battalion++

++HQ++

Brother Captain, Psycannon, Halberd, WL [First to the Fray] (unsure on powers)

Grand Master Voldus (Armoured Resilience, Edict Imperitor, Ethereal Manipulation)

Librarian, Storm Bolter, Warding Stave [sanctic Shard] (Empyrean Domination, Warp Shaping)

++Troops++

10 Terminators, 5 Staves, 5 Halberds, 2 Psycannons

5 Strikes, 4 Halberds, 1 Psycannon

5 Strikes, 4 Halberds, 1 Psycannon

++Elites++

10 Paladins, 1 Daemonhammer, 4 Halberds, 5 Staves, 4 Psilencers

4 Servitors

++Fast Attack++

5 Interceptors, 5 Halberds

++Heavy Support++

Any and all feedback appreciated!

Solid list personally I would probably go astral on purgation squads, sanctuary on terminator and paladin squads. Gate on strikes and brother captain. Hammer hand on interceptors.

One thing I would recommend is making the interceptors a 10man unit. As you can always combat squad if you need 2 units. Just gives a bit more flexibility.

You must have done your research! List is very standard. I agree with Gnomeo, and as far as powers and relics I'd give librarian artisan and brother captain santic shard and give him lore master. Put edict and inner fire on the BC for a backup mortal wound bomb against melee threats. Give voldus warpshaping for redundancies and an open smite.

Thanks for the feedback! Having the Inceptors in a blob makes a lot of sense, I'd love a second unit of 10 but no idea how I'd fit them in.

Definitely spending my time I can't get out to play watching bat reps and reading reports! I'd love to do a full 2+ list, but think I'd be too thin on the ground if I go for a full Paladin squad in there.

As for backup Smite Bombs, I'm half tempted to take an Ancient for the potential for Banner + Inner Fire - while also being useful when I don't need to yolo him into a 3" deepstrike.

Is the Artisan Relic worthwhile? I'm more looking at Augurium Scrolls as a potential for hard melee match ups

A not on the banner + inner fire combo. Unfortunately it doesnt work as the banner means you lose rites of banishment and that is required to get the extra 6" range. But vortex works.

Aha! That puts a pin in that one then. An Apothecary at 80pts is pretty tempting too for a bit of a back up psychic-wise, and the healing/res definitely doesn't hurt. However, seems like a solid core to start with, and I'll start getting my models ordered and built. Time for some paint scheme test models!
