Primaris models with Firstborn weapons?

Has anyone built Intercessors or Reivers as counts-as Firstborn Veterans, using the weapons from the Veterans kit?

If so, how did it turn out and was much actual converting required?

Basically I've got ten slots left in my Deathwatch cases for 32mm infantry and a load of Deathwatch weapons I haven't used yet (a couple of Frag Cannons, a couple of Infernus Heavy Bolters, some SIA Bolters, etc.). I was going to buy a Tactical Squad box but... the ones I already have are so short, even compared to their Mk8 brethren, so I'm considering using Primaris instead.

Good idea? Bad idea?

Depending on the finish you want, it won't take much conversion work. Most of the length of the bolt rifle comes beyond the hand grip, so trimming around the grip allows you to add a suitably cut-down boltgun easily:

From my blog

If you want to use other bits, you can use the arms from Intercessors (etc.), and drill out the bulk of material from the grip, then trim it down. This will allow you to put in any weapon you like:

I rebuilt my Veterans using Primaris bodies and Deathwatch arms/weapons. They fit nicely IMO and don't look out of place. Also, I used the older helmets instead of the Primaris ones to be able to tell them apart easier.

The older helmets are a great idea. Good to know the arms work well, I've always thought that the arms from the Veteran kit looked a bit big/long when I used them with an old Tactical Squad box I had lying around.

Some of the squads might look a little weird if I end up mixing Primaris based Veterans and Firstborn based Veterans... but I'm still thinking it's worth the small extra cost to use Primaris bodies.

I didn't like the size difference either so I went with all Primaris bodies. Here's a couple of horrible photos.
